New from Cybertron Con 2012 in Singapore - Hot on the heels of images of MP11 and MP11S comes the announcement of TakaraTomy's next Masterpiece figure - Lambor; or as he's known to english-speakers - Sideswipe!

Now that's a huge surprise, especially since I thought the next one was Soundwave.

That will be awesome, and a nice change of pace.

Ohhh, Sideswipe, that's pretty cool. So, what scale will he be? I'm guesing around Alternators size, But he'll need to be even smaller (Classics / RtS / Generations car scale or Alternity scale), if he's going to be in scale with MP-10, right? I wonder if they are letting comparable scales go again?

It's not entirely unwelcome, but kind of wtf. A little annoying because we already have Binaltech Lambor. I would've liked to see a character we haven't had on a large scale yet, like Soundwave or Galvatron. Still, I'm interested. Surprised Lamborghini will let them do it.

Wow, for real? This is crazy. Sideswipe is my favorite Transformer but I never thought I would see the day they made him a figure for the Masterpiece line. I feel like this awesome news is somehow the universe making it up to me in karma for the disaster of an ending that Mass Effect 3 was.

I don't know, it would be interesting to know. I imagine a company like that would be very aggressive in protecting their property though.

I was expecting Soundwave too.
But now that I see it's an Autobot, I'd have preferred one of the Jazz mould Autobots, I think Prowl would've been nicer.

Unexpected, but cool nonetheless! Five bucks says he'll have his piledriver hands, or the one he had in Fire on the Mountain.

Also, according to Robotkingdom on facebook, they're looking into making MP Soundwave and to release Fortress Maximus on the 30th Aniversary:

Possible upcoming takara items
Takara crew that they will look into masterpiece Soundwave!
Also, possible encore Fortress Maximus during 30th anniversary !!!!!!!!!!!! Even tough they can't ganrantee, but still deeply looking forward to those 2 items !

I'm cool with this if the scale is right with MP-10. If in the right scale, hopefully he'll be a little smaller and cheaper, making it less painful to buy 2-3 of this mold.

However I fear he'll be expensive to cover Lamborghini's licensing fees.

SIDESWIPE!!!! How the heck is Sideswipe worthy of a Masterpiece toy ahead of Galvatron? What about the Masterpiece Huffer that was shown in the Generations 2011 book, was that rejected over Sideswipe and Sunstorm? Well, at least it the next one isn't Megatron 2.0 I suppose.



Edit: On second thought, if made cheaper since it will be a smaller product they may be able to fund more Masterpiece toys but doing characters such as Sideswipe and Huffer. I wouldn't but them if they were over $100 though. $60 maybe but any more and I would think twice.

Think about it guys - its the repaint value that counts here. The just released Rodimus that has maybe 1? repaint in him, so they need a generic to make more capital before we can have a specialist such as Soundwave/Shockwave/Galvatron. Besides, we are a bit short on Autobot MP's after all the bloody seekers they have released.

Assuming this will be re-tooled for Sunstreaker later on (as well as Wildrider/Dead End/Battlechargers/limited black repaints/generic Autobot soldier #4) if they do a Punch/Counterpunch version of this ill be selling my house and buying four.

I would imagine TT&H will have to pay a pretty hefty royalty fee just the the Lamborghini logo alone.

Now, onto the matter at hand. Sideswipe was my FAVORITE when I was young, and still might be to this day. I remember how absolutely jacked I got when they first teased us at Botcon 07 that we would get Sideswipe & Sunstreaker... then sadly I was super let down when he was released because he wasn't as perfect as they concept art (Octane knows that feeling too, I'm sure) so I can't help but feel that a MP Lambor/Sideswipe will have everything I want in a, well, MP Lambor/Sideswipe.

Won't lie though, I was really hoping for a MP Galvatron.

Oh well, with this announcement and the fact that so many WFC/FOC characters will be making it into the Generations line I'm 100% sure we'll get our WFC Sideswipe now!

I'm am so happy that this is coming out and I'm hoping he drops in September. With this release now it seems anyone is masterpiecire worthy like wheeljack or ironhide.

I just can't get past the WTF factor. If he's small enough to fit in with MP-10 then he'd better be a damned site cheaper. Like half price. If he's scaled with MP-01 then he'll replace the Bin/Alt version and that will annoy me and he'd still better be a damned site cheaper than recent releases. Why aren't they giving us Galvatron and Soundwave?

I won't buy the traditional look, but if they do a G2 repaint? I am allllll over that.

I wouldn't have put money on Sideswipe being the next MP in a million years, but it's not an unpleasant surprise.

I hope he is in scale with the MP Seekers.

And I'll definitely buy the Sunstreaker repaint, but I may give Red Alert a miss this time 'round.

Wasn't really expecting this guy to be next one, but then again it's not that bad choice. Hope they use that old lambo chassis for this one. I think it would look better.

I wonder how they'll implement a Sunstreaker version? Red Alert, Clamp down and Tiger Track in the pipe line next?
