Could Prime RID Ratchet sit and work well in a Classics Collection?

The title says it all. I have been trying to get a Ratchet to sit in my classics collection for a while. I see the Universe ones usuall going between $55 - $80 on eBay. Just seems way to expensive. Yesterday I saw the new RID Ratchet at Wal Mart. It looked really nice, thought it might be able to work. But I left it since I don't collect Prime figures. But do you think it could work in a Classics Collection?

I think the Prime style fits a little better in Classics than Animated did. I'm not sure it really works though-Prime is just as distinct as Animated is, just a little less stylized. If you did a head swap and maybe some paint work, maybe...

It's really up to you, but IMO, the aesthetics are just WAY too different for him to fit in with a Classics collection. Transformers Prime figures are very stylized and contrast between smooth curves and pretty sharp angles, something the Classics line doesn't attempt to do. The Classics aesthetics lends itself to a smoother style.

Go for it. If you decide it doesn't fit, oh well, you got something else to find a place for.

It's not like that mold in the Classics/Universe/Whatever is that good. I only have Ironhide, but it's pretty flawed, def. not one of the best classic renditions around. *stares at toes*

It's all personal preference man. I don't think it works for me but I don't hate the classics version as much as a lot of guys seem to.

I agree but he's still obviously TFP rather than Classics.

Ditto. I tend to let certain things about aesthetic go just to have a more filled out classics shelf, but this tended to work better with certain movie figures since they didn't have defined faces that could clash with the other neoG1ers standing around them. Ratchet doesn't have that benefit.

I also face the same problem... I decided to go with Galaxy Force (Cybertron) Red Alert as a Classics Ratchet stand-in... works decently, since Cybertron shares that classic chunkyness. :D

While I don't think it's gonna match all that well with the CHUG stuff, if you're only gonna own one or two Ratchets, this is a good one to get. With a little bit in the way of custom paint apps, this guy could look spectacular.

This is funny because I have Classics Ratchet standing with my Prime figures

I went ahead and picked it up. A little small but overall not to bad, plus it is nice having a different mold.

Thoughts......

That's actually not as bad as I thought it'd be. Vehicle mode really fits in with the Classics Autobots quite well. The bot mode also doesn't look terribly out of place. The only aspects of the bot mode that don't work, in my opinion, are the feet (far too rounded) and the head sculpt (too long). If he were given an alternate head, it'd actually work, though.

Hmm, that does look pretty good. I've been considering Prime RiD Ratchet for my Classics shelf, the separate mold would differentiate him from Ironhide. Or I might just leave my Universe Ratchet in his place and pick up RiD Ratchet just for fun. He really does look like a great figure.

The robot mode works, but the alt mode doesn't fit in. It's too small and movie inspired.

This is what I'm gonna do as well.

If you think he fits in your own universe, go for it. Wait, there were pictures. See, I think he fits well. Only the alt mode is kind of small, though. Well, blame that on Hasbro.

It fits well enough. Many of the later classics have a different sort of feel to them anyway, like G2 Prime and Perceptor.

I've seen this done before and the alt mode is just a tad small, but I don't keep my TF's in alt mode. Bot mode is nicely sized, but there is one lil thing that made me NOT get him and do the swap. My classics display does have a certain look to them, you can see parts of their alt modes in their bot modes. Ex. Sideswipe's car hood is his chest. Or the roof of the car the chest like BB. With PRiD Ratchet, as fine of a figure as it is, there is nothing about his alt mode that is represented in his bot mode. It's just that little detail that made me not to this. So close, really! I am not a fan of classics Ratchet/Ironhide and would love to swap them out, but I will have to wait for a more suitable figure.

It looks good to me. I think certain Prime figures could fit it, if you feel that that version fits well in. Not many, but yeah, that works.

the ambulance looks pretty tiny, but I do like him in robot mode. works fine with the rest of them.

I did the swap this past week. Found the Prime Ratchet & he's just a better figure overall. The Universe Ratchet was kind of a rush job on turning Iron Hide into Ratchet. At least now on my classics shelf Ratchet has a different look then just a repainted Ironhide. I liked the new Ratchet so much I sold my Unverse one on ebay. Hope I don't change my mind & regret that... :D

I really wouldn't have picked Ratchet up for that purpose, but based on those pics it might work.

Btw, for those of you who didn't buy Universe Ratchet based on not liking Ironhide, Ratchet actually came out much better.

The deco might be better, but with all the things wrong with that mold, the deco isn't even in the top 5.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but the smurfy blue Ironhide face was more annoying to me than the head tilt.

I was thinking this as well Prime Ratchet looks very similar to the current IDW version!
