Transformers you never thought you'd sell (until you did)

Has anyone ever sold a figure that had previously been a major part of their collection, maybe even their favorite figure?
The reason why I ask is I've been going back and forth with the idea of selling off my BotCon 08 Shattered Glass Optimus Prime. I absolutely love the figure, he's one of my all-time favorites but I'm really not sure how much longer Shattered Glass will really fit with what I want to do with my collection. Seeing the current prices he brings, it's hard to justify holding onto a figure like that when I could use that money at BotCon for so many other cool things. A couple of years ago, I would have figured he'd be the LAST piece of my collection I'd sell.
Has anyone else sold off (for any reason) what used to be a major piece in your collection and did you regret it afterwards?

I guess I'm a hoarder in this respect. I have multiples of several random figures that I've happened to get in lots and such. I have no plans on selling ANYTHING...and I'm not really sure why. I always tell myself, "Well, I can display THIS one in bot mode, and THIS one in alt mode!" I never do...but that's always my justification, lol.

MP Skywarp used to be a big deal to me but he is gone now. Hard to let him go but no regret.
I also kept movie red Camaro Cliffjumper and ROTF Lockdown long enough and they are gone as well.
There were figures I felt bad about letting them go at the moment but since they really didn't fit into my universe, I didn't regret also. If that really happens, there is always a eBay there. Not yet happening to me but I did hear people sold one and then bought it back.

Alternators. I haven't sold them and probably won't, simply because you're lucky to get retail for most of them nowadays, but if they were still going for anywhere near what they were a few years ago, I'd probably be delighted to unload them today. Not sure where my absolute love for them went, but they just seem entirely expendable now. Probably because Classics have done such a great job the last few years that Alternators just started looking more and more half-assed in bot mode. And while I still appreciate the concept of the line and admire how well a job they did to make most of them look like legitimate model cars, these days I'd rather sacrifice the alt mode interior and get a more accurate and well articulated bot mode. And I have a feeling many others must share a similar line of thought since the value has gone down so much with the line...

Well in many ways I ran out of room for tfs a while ago and now have a bunch in boxes, many unopened since I have no where to put them.
Last year I couldnt wait any longer after looking at ebay final sales data and sold my 2008 boxset, rodimus/megatron other 2008 figs. They were worth simply too much for me keep them around doing nothing ( I didnt even display them).
And I didnt sell them but a few years ago a Brave maximus and a long comic box full of tfs (maybe more) disappeared from my house. I regretted the loss of those in the same way as if I had sold them, and later mybe last year or the year before rebought a Brave Maximus.
I dont regret some of the others I sold but I do kinda want to save up for sg Rodimus, sg Megatron, and sg Prime sometime in the near future maybe. but at their prices it seems a lil unlikely.

Most of the Leader Class figures I had from Super-Link all the way through Dark of the Moon. I went from Leaders to Voyagers and Deluxes to save on space and make a little cash. The hardest to let go was probably my RoTF Shadow Command Megatron, but I don't regret it. It got me a good chuck of change loose, and it was still a deal for the buyer. I do regret selling my Leader Sentinel Prime just a little. My Walmart still has one on the shelf, and I might pick it up. Especially if they put it on clearance soon. That combined with my employee's discount (yeah, I work there

) should be a nice price for a figure that's a great representation for the character, even with his few faults. Also, I might pick up a regular Leader RoTF Megatron, if I have the extra money...

I had the complete Botcon set from '09 (including a First 100 pin!) and I've sold nearly all of it since. Skyquake is still for sale if anyone's interested. All I'm holding onto now is the pin and I didn't even go to the con! I sold my original Star Convoy which was a gift from a now ex-fiance after I spent nearly a decade wanting one. It went soon after she did but I had the reissue by that point so there's that. I sold my near complete set from Botcon '07 last year, all but Alpha Trion, Weirdwolf, and Dreadwind. Everyone else had been replaced anyway. Getting the iGear Huffer was the final nail on them. I went through about $200 worth of parts and effort in making a body for TFCon Stronghold and that's for sale. Stronghold itself not the body, though it does look a little weird all stripped of weapons and headless. I sold a MISB G1 Megatron to get money to get a ring for an ex-girlfriend about 10 years ago and to be honest, I'd've been happier with the Megatron!

Ah, to be young and stupid again.
I've sold a Predaking I restored a part at a time from my childhood. I've sold Fort Max (my personal Ultimate Grail that my father promised to get me before I went in for surgery when I was dying on a hospital bed at age 8 and he never did) twice now. I've sold things that I have waited my whole life for mere weeks after I got them. Because in the end, their just things. And I have more important considerations. No things are worth losing a roof over your head. And since life just keeps going, who says you can't just buy it again later?

I've been tempted to do the same, actually. Well, I'd probably keep the MPs if I did this, but otherwise I think I could do without the rest. Free up space (mostly closet) and make back a few bucks.

Getting ready to sell MP Ultra Magnus, MP Convoy Black, US MP Starscream and crown kit. Also the other MP seekers. I just don't need them anymore. I'm debating getting rid of MP Megatron as well. A better one is eventual.

Ironic considering you're the one who convinced me to get mine. I still have him, too.

I've bought and sold loads of TF's in my time and had little regret. But the one's I thught I'd never ever sell and regret doing it are:
MP
SkywarpEncore
ConvoyTHS 02
Hybrid Convoymost of my
Classics /
Universe collection
Armada
UnicronMIB
Sky GarryStar ConvoyG2
ConvoyG1
Rodimus PrimeG1
Hot RodWhen I was in the 4th grade, I foolishly brought a G1
Superion to school for "show and tell". 2 kids picked the room lock during recess and stole it from me.
Also, once when I was away from my parents, visiting my Grandparents, my mom and dad decided to give all my 1984-1988
TF's / Orguss / M.A.S.K. / G.I. Joe / Macross collection to the neighbors children without even telling me first. My dad thought that I was too old for them. I was 10.

There are a number of things I should sell, mostly just MIB extras and 1 or 2 unwanted freebies(thanks for being incompetent HTS). I am kinda on the fence about Timelines Over-Run, since I wasn't foolish enough to sign up for another year of pain with the collector's club and therefore am not getting Runamuck. Not sure I'll regret loosing him if I do sell him off, but it'll probably be a lingering annoyance.

Sold? None, I'm a hoarder. But put away?
Due to very limited space issues I have to be a bit more ... choosy about which TFs I have out. One I never though would see the storage bin is FP upgraded Superion, the 3rd party MP Megs stock and silencer, and Alt. Shockwave and Jazz. I like all of them still, but there's just no damn room.

I had looked for a Transmetal 2 Blackarachnia forever, finally bought it, then ended up selling it not even a year later. Also had an Anniversary MP Optimus, in great condition, came complete- but had to sell.

In the beginning, I'd have said no. In fact, when I was really getting into the swing of things of Armada, I was a completest. Redecos, you name it. Then, for some reason, I didn't want to buy Galvatron, since I already had Megatron. Then the Mini-Con repaints stopped being a necessity for me. That should've been my first clue.
Then, bills started piling up and we needed money, so I started selling off chunks of my collection from the A/E/C trilogy. Pieces I didn't think I'd get rid of, but did.
Then, it became easier as the movies came out and each figure had a bigger and better one in ROTF. (DOTM, not so much, lol)
Depending on the situation, depending on the figure, yeah, I have no problem selling them off for good reason. I'm even considering liquidating my Masterpiece collection. They're collecting dust and outside of tinkering with Rodimus and Starscream, they just sit there.
That's a lot of money and cluttered space to just sit there.
