My whole entire RID collection, save for Rail Racer, I got for free. Optimus, Magnus, and the build team, all free. Of course, those are all the RID figures I own, but still. When you get a massive or amazing figure for absolutely NO cost, it's amazing. What are your greatest freebies?

Probably a tie between MP Grimlock and DotM Leader Ironhide. I love that figure, especially after getting FWI-2, and it was a gift. And MP Grimlock is the best MP so far, as far as I'm concerned, and I also got it as a gift. From the same person.

Getting that Armada Unicron on X-mas a decade ago was pretty killer.

My friend Elliott just gave me a complete Universe 2.0 Tread Bolt the other week because he just had it sitting around. He's not into Transformers at all and he picked it up at a flea market or garage sale or something for a couple bucks. I've had ex's give me both MP-01 and an original Star Convoy. My current girlfriend gave me the big Kre-O Optimus for Christmas. My buddy Froy gave me the iGear Huffer and Seaspray for Christmas too.
But the best was in the 90's, my sister gave me Machine Wars Optimus for Christmas and told me not to tell my mom where I got it. My mom was kinda totalitarian when I moved in with her after my folks divorced and she would throw out all of my comic books and action figures whenever she got mad at something (usually not me.) I'd just come home from school/work and my room would be empty and she'd threaten to kick me out if I bought anything again. She'd feel bad about it in a few days and would actually give me TRU gift cards (and later eBay gift cards) to make it up to me until the next time she snapped. She got a lot better after I moved out and she remarried but that MW Optimus didn't leave my car for years to keep it safe.
Now when she comes over my house and says that I have too much stuff I jokingly point at the door for her to leave and when she says anything about having spent too much on them over the years I point out how much more she cost me!

I had quite an amazing collection of G1 robots that were gifts from my parents when I was a child, starting from 1984 up to the time
Actionmasters and
Micromasters ended.
But, more recently, a roommate of mine went dumpster diving and lo and behold, he found a bag filled with some awesome G1 Transformers. Lots of them were incomplete and / or broken, but there was a
Grimlock in there in perfect condition, which I've never had before.

I think the best freebie I've ever received was an Animated Voyager Optimus, and that was a mistake on HTS's part. The only thing is... I already had one, so free or not it's superfluous.

Fortmax from my dad and the Autobot Headmasters/Decepticon Headmasters with the exception of Scorponok (1st release/ generation) from my mom.
The rest I had to buy since almost 20 years ago.

When I got 07 leader Brawl for my birthday I played with him most of the day and didn't want to go out to see my friends because of him so I suppose it'd be him!

My brother got a movie voyager thundercracker from christmas 2007 from a friend.
But No matter how much we tried to encourage him...he just didnt like Thundercracker(he never was much of a Transformers fan).
But he had already opened the box so he couldn't return it to the store on boxing day.
So i took Thundercracker into my grasp and took care of him.

I have very few Transformers that were free but of them the "best" is probably 1st movie Arcee, if only because I wasn't expecting it. Saw her at a flee market and asked how much she was, the lady just told me to take it because she didn't want to lug her kids toys back home xD
The rest were gifts I had picked out for myself at x-mas time because no one knew what to get me. So while I do rather enjoy them there wasn't much of a "OMG, COOL" factor. Lol.

Surprisingly, mine are Mini-Cons, to be exact Wedge Shape and UK Brimstone.
Wedge Shape is one of those rare giveaway campaign Microns, and I was gifted him from Diem, when he still lived in Japan. Yes, he sent it all the way from there to the Netherlands. Paired him with Micron Booster Gredator and Apexus, so my Maximal Mini-Con Team is complete

Brimstone was a complete surprise as I never asked for him, yet I got him as an extra from a certain sneaky Brit

Maybe that's why I love him so much. It's the UK candy toy, mind you, so different mold with a lot of similarities, the shade of green aside. He's been recast as G1 Brimstone from the Wings Universe fiction, and stands proudly in front of my monitor.

A G1 Jetfire. I'm 40, and my friend whom I've known since the second grade gave him to me a few months ago. He got him new when Jetfire first came out, 86 or 87? I remember that huge box, and Jetfire's gleaming whiteness. I was naturally jealous, but I got an Omnibot 2000 around that time, so it wasn't too bad.
That Jetfire is mine now, no box, no accessories, and he's yellowed so much he looks like desert camo (not a bad look actually), but he has great joints and nice stickers. Def a keeper.

Animated Arcee, was a figure I really wanted when it is super rare. Thanks to my cousin for helping me get hold of one and though he liked it a lot, passed it to me. Really awesome dude.

My brotehrs, cousins and friends gave me all their Transformers when they outgrew them within the space of a year. We're talking around 80 Transformers. Highlights include:
G1 Ultra Magnus
Doubledealer
Powermaster Prime
Cyclonus and Scourge
The means to complete Menasor, Bruticus and Defensor and finish teams like the Firecons, Battlechargers, Autobot Double Targetmasters and Throttlebots.
Complete Micromaster teams.
My favourite in recent years was a boxed, brand new Device Label Tigatron. Met a few Transformer heads in Dublin. Mentioned I'd love to get my hands on tigatron and the guy produces a boxed spare he had for an aborted custom, asking if I'd like it. I offered to pay but he insisted I take it. A truely decent individual.

There are four:
Number one must be my first TF, before I even knew what a Transformer was. My uncle bought me Optimus Prime. Ironically he got it for me because he knew I liked toy cars and trucks. He didn't even realize it transformed into a robot, and was quite shocked when I took it out of the box, rolled it around for a bit and then began turning it into a robot. Initially he thought I had just broken the toy that he got me for my birthday, only to realize, as I just had, that there was more to this 'truck' than meets the eye

. I was hooked from then on and Transformers became my favorite thing.
The second (and only slightly second) best would be Powermaster Optimus Prime. The bulk, semi-cartoon accurate cab/robot mode, the powermaster gimmick and the awesome combined mode was just too awesome. And those massive guns and shoulder cannons made it all the better. I loved (and still love) that figure.
The third is the trusty DoubleSpy, AKA Punch/Counterpunch (G1). What an awesome and versatile toy. I'd spend hours just transforming it over and over again between its 3 modes and often gave Punch 4 arms by folding out Counterpunch's arms underneath.
Finally, my fourth would have to be a tie between Sixshot and Doubledealer. Sixshot for obvious reasons. Marvelous bot mode and years of play value in a 6 mode figure. Doubledealer was great because I saw in him much of the appeal that Punch/Counterpunch had, plus the Powermaster gimmick, which I always thought was cool, especially since he came with 2 of them, one for Autobot mode and one for Decepticon mode.
I had Scorponok (G1) as a kid as well as Metroplex, Ultra Magnus (the good one with the painted face/antennae etc., not the solid blue KO looking one) and a slew of other figures, but they never gave me the joy that the above 4 figures did.

I got a complete and MINT G1 Brainstorm and G1 Sureshot from a co-worker. They look like they've barely even been transformed.
I told him they were worth some cash, but he gave them to me anyway!

iGear Arcee. I bought it and the first set of Kup heads then waited for it to arrive and waited and waited to no avail. I contacted them about it and they apologised and offered me a refund for the missing package. I accepted the refund. To my surprise Arcee suddenly appeared but no Kup heads. I didn't contact iGear so despite the fact I don't have the heads, i still technically got Arcee for free.

Does buying four used ROTF Devastators to put together a complete one and selling the other three incomplete Devastators for a couple bucks over what you originally paid for the four count? If so, than I would have to go with ROTF Devastator as my top choice. In second place, I was looking at a lot of mixed used Transformers and had every intension of purchasing it for said price (cheap). But I played Hardball and turned my back on him and when he called me back I turned around and said. "Only if you through in That complete Cybertron Galvatron." to which he replied, "Deal!"
I liked Cybertron Galvatron to the point that when I came across another complete one for $50 I purchased as well.
