just what the title suggests is anyone using charachters/molds to fill in holes in their animated setup?
so far ive got cliffjumper to go alongside animated bb(and for my bb/cliff collection)and prime soundwave as the animated version was horrible.
i decided to pass on megs as ive got the leader version and my deluxe prime is just fine.
hope to get airachnid as my animated blackarachnia.
also have leader bulkhead so dont really care for the prime one but might get ratchet.

cyberverse is a whole other ballgame as im officially hooked on them.
just wondering if im the only one out there.

Nope. I tend to dsiplay my collection by set. So I keep ANimated with Animated and PRID with PRID.

No, but it amuses me how similar the cast is. Biggest difference is Prowl to Arcee and they're still both motorcycles that transform into badasses.

Why would you do that?

Animated is a very cheap line, even on the secondary market.

Just buy the real animated figures and be done with it.

Keep in mind that this is coming from someone who basically hates the animated style.

But why don't you like Animated Soundwave? He's kind of AMAZING. He's got a giant guitar for a weapon/minion!

youre right kanrabat they are cheap right now but....

if they had a wheeljack or decent cliffjumper i might and considering they're not going to make a leader megs anytime soon i may as well pass on the current version.
also i prefer the look of animated arcee to the prime one its not a bad looking mold just not my cup of tea

and as far as soundwave dont get me wrong i know alot of people out there do like him but a little van with a guitar isnt as interesting as a predator drone with a detachable spy. >:oP

Odd...I think Prime Soundwave kinda sucks. Probably the worst Prime fig I've come across. Looks like a misshapen Halo figure. I'm not overly keen on Animated's look, but I actually thought Soundwave was one of the more well done figures, cheesy guitar aside...which despite cheesy, I could still appreciate.

Anyhow, I think Wheeljack fits in pretty well with Animated especially, but most of them are passable I think.

Sortof yes, sortof no. I don't have a lot of shelf space, and my Animated shelf is rather minimal anyway, so I set all my prime figures along with them. Thus it's less of a 'stand-in' kinda thing and more of a convenience measure. If I had Bulkhead though I'd probably try to squeeze him into my classics shelf, being as I've already placed RTS Lugnut with the classics cons... yeah, I care far more about classics than either Animated or Prime.

If it was possible and those 2 ever made a hatchling, when it grew up it would be the most badass ninja-bike-bot in history. Even its name would have to be "Badass Squared" because nothing else would do it justice. (Well, maybe Hot Rod would, but it's not a car...)

As for the topic, I can see where cherry picking the toys for various reason would result in an awesome lineup, but I personally can't. I'm too compulsive to have my different lines mixed like that. As they're displayed now, they each have their own shelf on the display case. Even PRID, of which I own only Ratchet and Arcee (Prime and Megatron as well, but they're on their own respective shelves) and they have a shelf all to themselves. I don't even plan on getting any more PRID figures.

Nope and I won't. Prime line is better line than Animated IMO and I'm actually using Prime line to fill my Classics holes.

Guilty...to an extent. FE Bumblebee is sitting in for g1 BB, as I'm just not a fan of the classics mold. Soundwave gets his own chunk of shelf for now, and OP sits with his bretheren. :BOT:

I put Animated Blurr in my Neo-G1 collection. He looks rather nice, even with the other figures.

Nope. But I don't display my figures in series' either <.< I just make armies out of 'em xD Then again I don't have all that much space to branch them out into their individual continuities, so making mini armies allows more to be displayed and the different styles clumped together doesn't bother me. Maybe I'm just weird xP

Personally, I found PRID Soundwave to be a disappointment. I had a major flop of perspectives when I bought him and Ratchet; I thought I'd love Soundwave and be "meh" with Ratchet, but it turned out to be the other way around. I enjoy Animated Soundwave's design far more.

As for cyberverse... I had thought about getting them when the pictures came out but now I'm not so keen. The price point has always been a major draw back for me and even though I think they look far superior to the movie-verse figures I just can't bring myself to care now that they're $10 for commander class. I'll stick with deluxe and voyager, which will ultimately mean I'm not spending as much money on this line. Over spent on DOTM stuuuuuff anyway (leading to major movie-style fatigue) and I don't intend to do the same here. It'll be good for my wallet at the very least xP

The only line where I mix is my neo-G1/Classics shelf. Like Device Label Blaster and ML Soundwave there. And HFTD-Mindwipe for... G1 Mindwipe, with the Headrobots upgrade that's coming out.

I'm a bit more strict with what I let get into my "Neo-G1" collection. I let some movie figures slide, such as Mindwipe, Bludgeon, and Fallback, and Lugnut comes across as more of a Classics incarnation anyway. Apart from that I don't make exceptions for Prime or Animated figs outside of Bulkhead, if only just to counterpoint Lugnut.

Doing it through customization, albeit I am using a few Prime figures as bases for the Animated customs, i.e. FE Vehicon for Animated Wheeljack.
