I'm not getting it. I'm sure it'll be nice and all, but the only MPs I'm getting on my shelf are the Leaders; Megatron, Optimus Prime, Rodimus Prime and hopefully Galvatron.

Maybe.... Given the size of MP10, mp cars will likely end up being just very expensive Alternators/ Binaltech. There better be some interesting accessories to warrant the purchase. And no underage girls flashing their underwear please

Though I would like to see him next to my Alternators Sideswipe.

I'm gonna have to wait to see the size/price on ol' Swipey first.

I doubt it. Those things were as out-of-proportion as fuq.

I'll definitely be getting MP12 if it indeed look like that line drawing. However, if TTomy pulls another stunt like they did to the MP3 mold, then I'll gladly pass, eheh.

I have full intentions of getting it, just a matter of when. I may wait it out and see if Hasbro does it as I'm getting tired of paying twice the price for minimal differences. MPs seem to be easily obtainable for at least a year after release anyhow so it doesn't really hurt to see what Hasbro offers up. Unless it happens to be under $100, then I may jump right away.

I'm not going to say never, but ... it'll be a while if it happens at all. Maybe if Hasbro offered it, I may bite, but maybe not.

I don't have many displays and MPs are great accent pieces. It's cool to have Megatron and Optimus towering over everyone in the back with Starscream and Grims at the side (Rodimus is elsewhere, beside Energon Galvatron).

But Sideswipe? He just doesn't have the same presence as the others. I mean ... no offence to Sideswipe fans, but he's always seemed the most generic of the Autobots. I don't recall him ever doing anything special and he never really stood out to me. I guess if he was one of your childhood TFs I could get it. But he wasn't one of mine.

In terms of scale he's also all wrong. At least for my collection. MPs serve as focal points for my collection and .... Sideswipe just isn't that focal point for me. If he has an alternity I'd buy him in a heartbeat (such a limited selection there!) but as an MP ... nope. Not unless it's at Hasbro prices. I'll make room for him then. Perhapse.

^^ Sideswipe may not be my favorite character, but I do think the figure has the potential to be amazing...

This is good though. If Sideswipe, THE generic Autobot is successful with the fans, that'll open up possibilities for MPs of other nostalgic characters that aren't TF mascots. Sludge, Blitzwing, Arcee...

It depends on price and size. An interview a while back said they plan on releasing MP figures in scale which means he will have to be much smaller. He'd better be a damned site cheaper as well.

They were 1:24 scale model licensed cars... The Robot modes suffered a bit for that. However:
Image
Pretty proportioned despite he massive kneepads.
---------------------------------------------

This one suffered a little more, but it still not completely disproportionate.
---------------------------------------------

Image
Issues with the feet, but overall correctly proportioned.

One of the more proportionate ones... But there's only so much that can be done when you have a Jeep hood for a chest.

If that's the case, then I'll revise my assertion of them being Very Expensive Alternators/Binaltech. They'll be outrageously expensive Alternity scaled figures.

Instead of 50 bucks, they'll be 120. Mark my words on that.

Per-ordered as soon as humanly possible.

That Lamborghini was THE dream car for any kid growing up in the '80s.... If we could ret-con a DeLorean 'bot somewhere in there too, I'd be on board for that as well....

The whole pull of the Alternators/Binaltech/Alternity lines for me was the fact that they resembled ACTUAL cars, I hope (80's Porsche with full Martini Racing deco) Jazz is next...

Do you want to know how much I care about MP Sideswipe? Before I saw the pic I thought this was about Sunstorm. Get back to me when he's in G2 colors... >:oP

Well I'm mainly referring to the tiny arms and the wide chests. Which were before Hasbro realized that the hood chests could collapse and/or separate to be more proportionate. (classics Prowl/Streak/Smokescreen mold, RtS Windcharger, Alternity Optimus, etc)

If BTs/Alts were made with modern TF tech, they'd no doubt look much better. But all I see in most existing ones are bad proportions. That's why I think Sideswipe won't have the same look as BTs/Alts. Maybe a modernized version of sorts, but nothing like existing ones.

Also, calling it now. He comes with a human(Spike or Sparkplug, whichever one Op didn't come with) and a jetpack compatible with MP-10.

As I said there's only so much you can do when the entire hood of a car is the chest. Just don't expect them to collapse Sideswipe's chest. Its his identifying feature. The Lambo front end is going to be his chest.

It was an example more than a prediction.

I'm not overly concerned about getting this. I hope it will be a cool TF, but it's not a character I'm particularly fond of. He should have the jetpack, and if it works on the new Prime, that'd be cool. Hope he has the piledriver hands too, but unless there's a Hasbro release, and it comes out at a time I happen to have a lot of cash on me, I doubt I'll get it. G2 colours might be cool, but I suspect we'll get a (Red )Alert repaint before that.

If he's in scale and Hasbro releases him and he's around $50 or less, I'll definitely pick him up. I do think he's a bit unnecessary, though, as the deluxe classics cars seem to be in scale with OP and the Seekers. I would've preferred a voyager sized Ironhide and Ratchet. I think Sideswipe and Sunstreaker's classics mold is ugly due to the legs, so I guess I don't mind a new, more accurate mold.

You asked and you shall recieve... Autobot Micromaster Swindler!

He's a Delorean.

Also, I've gotta agree with Zodconvoy. I really hope they do a G2 redeco of him. He was one of my favorite toys back when I was a kid, with G2 Jazz and G2-release G1 OP. If they release MP Sideswipe in G2 colors, I literally will NOT be able to say no. For the time being though, it'll be a pass.

I will only get the Hasbro release.

I can bet you my left AND right testicles that it will be a goddamn TrU exclusive again. An exclusive with a English only box that will never be released in Québec or the whole Europe.

It's not like there's people living there with spare income...

Seriously, fawk TrU exclusives.

Thanks for that, great find!

I don't normally go for mini-bots, but I'm gonna have to make an exception in this case;

I love the following on the wiki:

"Swindler's name may well have been a jab at carmaker John DeLorean's dubious business practices."

(best part here though):
"His sad lack of a Flux Capacitor keeps him from being one of the greatest Transformers ever."

If we could even get an Alternators sized one in there, I'd use my limited kit bashing skills to get a Flux Capacitor in there!!

Surely as the rights for the CMC Corporation are in limbo (or owned exclusively by the movie studios / creditors), here is a perfect opportunity for a Third Party manufacturer to swoop in, providing it was decent - iGear, maybe?

Back on topic, I think the straight lines of G1 Sideswipe's alt mode will hopefully give HasTak the chance to get it right this time, and concentrate on getting the 'bot right, rather than try to aim for curves that ultimately 'bend' the final altmode (I'm looking at you in particular, MP Rodimus..)

Nope, not if these prices continue to be what they are and the plastic stays what it is.

I've been feeling kind of meh about the MP figures of late. I never picked up Rodimus after I read all the problems with the original release, I also don't have Megatron or the new version of Optimus. Although Sideswipe isn't my favorite G1 character, I do really like him and depending on any QC issues I could see myself buying him and a repaint Red Alert.
