My Shelves... before I take 'em down!

Dismantling a big chunk of my collection today, and I wanted to share the joy before it's gone!

I'm still keeping my G1's, Alt's, Mp's and Movie's out. Energon and Armada etc. just look to cluttered for the house... and it really freaks out guests when they stay in that room.

The only ones I'm not putting away are Enegon Scorponok, Omega Supreme, and Bigass Starscream.

Thanks for lookin'! LC

Just put TF sheets on the bed. Then It will all tie together nicely. You won't have to put them away then!

Alright, they're gone now. Down in the basement, stuck in their alt modes to eternally not-transform in gray plastic tubs.

The shelves are now a shoe-rack for my beautiful fiance.

Honestly it's better this way. For some reason it makes me appreciate the stuff I DO have out even more. LC

My heart goes out to those poor transformers :P
Although,if you wanted to give them to a home where they can be displayed, my house has lots of room in it... :D

Kinda sad. When my girlfriend (now wife) moved in, I took down my TF collection. Now all I have out are Masterpiece Optimus Prime, Megatron Classics, and three alternators left in car mode (because I'm too lazy to transform them into robot mode).

My heart goes out to you, liveconvoy, I know what it's like to be with a non-supportive significant other, my ex was that way. Heh, but I know that's not how it is, it's those pesky houseguests! You should give them a choice... "TFs or the couch. Up to you!"

Jerks.

For those who made sacrifices for loved ones, I admire you guys and feel fortunate. I love my wife too and love her even more knowing that she respects my hobby which hopefully is our son's hobby too. She even dust off the TF for me once in awhile and NOBODY...i say it again nobody's shoes are gonna take over the my TF shelves. For those visitors who dont like TF, what they can do in my house is to shut their pile hole and look pretty while remaining on my property  .

You have a basement? Just convert it into your private sanctuary as it is supposed to be. The house is for women and children. The garage and basement is for men. That way your collection is out of the way and you have a place to go to get away from everyone.

Wish I had a basement or a garage to go to. Of course being a single father is almost as good. At least I don't have a woman to deal with, telling me what to do with my stuff.

huge collection put away

this sparked some emotion- i too have a huge collection, actually over 1200 transformers (collected since first run of BW), that filled several bookshelves. after bringing some girl over (who is gone now...) i decided to pack up most of them along with some other action figures, and my storage closet is completely full of plastic in boxes. now the only TFs i have out are the alternators (only missing Camshaft), my masterpiece Prime, Megatron, and Starscream, and my new movie collection. and i decided that i don't need to buy EVERY Tf that comes out. for the movie i'm only getting the detailed regular ones (deluxe, voyager, leader class) and not the cyberslammer watergun action plush cyberstompin crap. i am very impressed with the ones i have, except megatron, his alt mode is kinda crappy. can't hardly wait for the movie, i think it will actually be a hit regardless of what a die hard fan like me thinks, i'll love it even if it bombs. (ain't gonna happen anyways)
maybe i shoulda kept my japanese reissue predaking out...

Ah,
another man losing his collection for his significant other.

We really should have a club/support group....

I had very few of my TF's displayed when my wife and I lived ina twonhouse and she used to try to motivate me into bying a house "so you'd have a room to display them all and I won't have to look at them"

Well, we built a house.
Also had a baby.
All of a sudden I'm losing MY room, not because the baby needs it, but because SHE needs a place to store her stuffed animals.

And no it's not like it's even a collection, she just became so attached to them when she was a child that she can't get rid of them. :? And she keeps buying more :? :?

So I got to unpack all my TF's and shelve them for a month, but I never had time to do more than make sure they all still had their acc's and then had to re-pack them... never even got pictures. :-x

Someday the basement will become my sanctuary, assuming it doesn't fill up with little cotton-filled critters. :P

Oh man, that's harsh Bun-Bun.

I sometimes forget how lucky I am to have a completely supportive girlfriend (well, supportive other than the spending aspect). She even thinks it's cute and likes to hear me talk about Transformers. I'm so happy she's so excited for the movie. :D

I'm of the belief that if a person isn't going to respect your interests and let you keep the hobbies you have, they're not worth it. It's understandable that they may want your collection in another room or somesuch, but to make you put away or sell your collection is unfair and wrong, and they're not respecting you like they should.

Hah, I'm an empowered Transfan.

Ah there are some subtle diffrences between us...

a)You have a girlfriend, whereas I have a wife...
b)I started collecting after I met her, therfor she has seniority...

Girlfriends tend to more accepting about these things, infact it was my wife that first encouraged me to start collecting. It started out with Star Wars figures, she even bought many for me, then it went to Gundams... and I think that's where I lost her.
After that I got bigtime into TF's, then a little Marvel Legends and she decided it was no longer 'cute' it was now a waste of money. :?

- in her defense, I have been known to go on 'spending benders' where I buy way to many figures whenI really shouldn't.

-in my defense I have no other expensive vices, no smokes, no alchohol, no cars, no expensive tools, nothin'

-In her defense, neither does she (aside from stuffed animals)

-in my defense.....ah nertz.

Hah, fair enough, especially in the 'seniority' aspect. I can see how it would be a problem, getting too out of control. I guess so far I've been good, and able to still pay the bills. My collection's still relatively small and I'm not a completist in any way, so I don't plan on having entire rooms full of figures. I'm more of a 'Best Of' kind of guy.

I dunno, I guess making you sell it would be crossing the line, but still, kicking you out of your room is kind of unfair... You can't share it? Or are there THAT many stuffed animals?

actually...

the woman who convinced me to pack up my collection is long gone, i think i just realized that in the future when i bring in someone new it's probably not gonna help if i have 1500 pieces of plastic sprawled all over my living room. i love my TFs, but damnit i love women more. and guess what i don't have (right now)? i do have pics. and i will never sell. are there any women out there who love TFs? i'm sure there are some, far away from an obsessive like me. i do a great job in overcompensating for my loneliness by surrounding myself with robots that i can manipulate with my hands because i don't have any soft booty to hold. no, i don't have a crush on Arcee, not even the Transmetal version of Blackarachnia that was removed from stores because of her removable chest plate that made her look like she had nipples which i got anyways but hey i'm an ass man so until they make an Arcee with a big ass i guess i'll focus my crushes on human adult females who only transform their moods instantly kinda like the jumpstarters Twintwist and Topspin and i've rambled enough it's time to go sit next to movie Optimus and play Tomb Raider with a woman who has big boobs and no ass.
just can't win so i guess i'll just buy something.
BTW has everyone seen the new preview showing Megatron?
tried to post my pics, can't get it right

.....

.......

Yeah, there's a surprising amount of girls out there who like Transformers. In fact, we have several female members here.

....

I realize you're lonely, I've been there too. But of a word of advice: women don't like it at all if you come across as desperate. I'm not trying to be mean or anything, your post just kind of came off that way.

Eh, you want the ultimate woman repellant try the single father approach. Then sprinkle generously with Transformers and a lack of time. Then try and get a woman.

Frankly though I love single life. Women are really such a pain. The benefits of having one live with you really don't out weight the costs. I like being able to buy a big screen without hearing "what do you need that for". I like being able to arrange my Alts collection in my living room without complaints of them taking up to much space or being unsightly. And I absolutely love the fact that all my money is my money to do with as I please. Of course I wouldn't mind one visiting for a few hours now and again.

Thanks, I really enjoyed setting them up and everything.

I really need to stress here to anyone that's posted, that my girlfriend really couldn't be more supportive of this habit. It wasn't even her idea to take down the shelves.

I just didn't like having them lurking in some room I never go into, just waiting to freak out my soon-to-be mother in law.

My collection that I do have out is pretty respectable, and it's not as cluttered as those shelves. And not having that legion of toys out definitely changes my collecting habits for the better.

If I had them all out, I would go bucknutty at Botcon this weekend, buyin a bunch of Energon and Armada crap that I really don't even like.

So now my collection is more focused, more about quality.

'sides, I'll just wait until I have a finished basement and put them all out, and it... will... be... AWESOME! LC

Sounds like a good plan! :D Be sure to show us pics whenever that happens. I also thought your setup was really awesome, I like the symmetrical setup a lot.

Well, good to know it wasn't your fiancee's idea. :) And I can understand about not wanting the future mother-in-law to freak out. My girlfriend's mom knows I collect them, but not how much... we shall see how this plays out. Going for quality over quantity is definitely a good idea too. It feels good to have a collection purely made up of toys you love, mine is like that.

Bun-Bun: lol, I don't think you're the only one in that household with an addiction.
