i was dusting off my animated decepticons and while dusting off lugnut i found out the cockpit on the purple part was sticky, also the purple spikes on his weapon. i wiped it off but it took awhile for it to come off. just used water. then i noticed the same thing on blitzwings head. sticky. why is this? and i recommend checking your animated toys for those who have them of being sticky. and if someone could explain please do.

Heat and/or humidity may be causing or accelerating degradation in the plastic, causing the outer layers of it to become tar-like.
If you smoke or do anything else in your home that emits anything into the air that might settle on them causing a sticky residue, that could be the cause.
And of course, if you have kids and they've touched your toys (likely without you looking) they tend to have sticky fingers.
I suspect the first suggestion is the case though. I've seen some of my figures exhibit the same thing and I don't smoke around them but it does get quite hot and humid where I am.

Cos they are made of soft plastic. Or in animated's case, I think they used **** quality rubber. Blitzwing's head is insanely sticky now..

The only time I had any problem with my animated figures as far as "stickiness" goes was when I pulled Ratchet & Classics Megatron out of a moving box and they were both fused together (Ratchet by his head, Megatron by his leg) through this very sticky ball. When I pulled them off, the plastic of Ratchet's face was melted, and Megatron's leg was...eh...it was in better condition.

Mine are all packed up... I'm slightly worried about what I will find when I pull them out.
My Botcon Animated stuff is fine though.
I live in a dry area so that may help. Still ridiculous for figures from 2008 to have degradation problems already.

I'm just glad I don't like Animated all too much & I don't transform Megatron. Either one would've made me sad

No animated melting rubber stickiness going on but one day i pulled my classics ironhide out of storage and i had him rapped in tissue as i ran out of bubble wrap anyway as i took it off it was stuck to the painted part of the hood i managed to slowly peel it off but he's left with a tissue imprint just glad it didn't melt in.
