TJ Maxx, I love you <3

Sorry if this is old news. I didn't see anything at a quick glace (other than from a few years ago & an e-bay/European find, thanks to google).

I found this at TJ Maxx, in lower NY state, tonight:
Image

I noticed I blocked the name of the figure set, so anyone unfamiliar with it, it's called "The Ultimate battle: Optimus vs. Megatron"

It would figure that the month I stop looking for Transformers to save up a bit of money, I start finding everything. First Takara's Breakdown, in a Japanese toy store, then Hasbro's Knockout and several botshots and now this. There goes my plan to finish up a cosplay this year. Lol. Fair enough trade off though, if you ask me. I can buy bracers and a nice leather Renn-Faire style bag at any point in time. Can't say the same about these toy, other than forking over double the cost plus shipping on the likes of ebay.

Just be careful with it, they suffer the same fate as Dotm Darksteel. Plastic quality issues. :( Also, that Optimus has an astoundingly derpy altmode. xD

This set has been known for a while, but I don't think it's ever been 'officially' announced nor even frontpaged.

TJ Maxx can be a great place for TFs. Finding Leader figures for $25 and "lost" lines like RtS is quite an experience. 'Course, often times there are only a meager handful of TF toys, all carelessly tossed onto the shelf.

I see they repackaged it..That megs is really cool but that Optimus is ...just keep him in robot mode LoL.

Tj maxx does rule every now and then for those obscure gems, this is one of those gems IMO..

Whoever said that Optimus has a "really derpy alt mode"...

...

... Severely overestimated it. "Derpy" would be a compliment.

Don't forget the mis-assembled legs on Megatron, I think it's been like that on every Hasbro release so far!!

What happens to Darksteel and this? :O Also, I love this Prime more than the voyager... really.

Lol. Well that's alright. I'm not, as Knockout would say, a car enthusiast, so keeping them in robot mode is no biggy for me xD

There are only a small handful of figures in my collection that are displayed in their alt-modes

Didn't get a chance to pop the set open last night as I wanted to get in some FoC play before I headed to bed, but is the quality any worse than the outcry with the PRID line? If it's along those lines I'm not going to think much of it. My PRID guys have been holding up just as well as any (which says something considering one of them fell off the shelf the other day. It was a good 6 foot drop, but the figure was perfectly OK. Granted, I do have a plush carpet). I guess even if the plastic is worse, the set was only $12.99. I'll just have to be ginger with it.

Great find! They're great figures - so poseable. And you may not have discovered for yourself that Prime's waist locks in place if you pull that black tab all the way out.

Actually, just on the green one which is surprising. All later releases (the grey Special Edition and G2-colored United release) have it fixed, but all re-releases of the green have the feet wrong, despite them coming after the SE version!

I knew the TT G2 deco had been fixed, but wasn't aware about the Grey SE one, how they managed to fix it then un-fix it is anyone's guess!!

They probably updated the assembly instructions, but renamed them as well as keeping the original under the original name. You can guess the result.

Well, I don't *have* this set, but I've heard many a report that this set has some cheap-feeling plastic.

As for Darksteel (who I do have), his plastic feels notably cheaper and thinner than other figures from the same line, including Dotm Sideswipe, who he is a redeco of.

I'm considering getting this set this weekend, and can someone post a link or tell more about the incorrect legs or feet setup for this Megatron to fix him?

Put simply, Megatron's feet are assembled back to front: the piece on top of the short end of the "foot" is supposed to go in front. Yes, the "foot" is actually his heel. The legs only have two screws on the inside, but the halves take a bit of wiggling to detach. After that, simply turn the foot pieces around, then reassemble.
