I've been having alot of trouble with deciding what line of transformers i should collect. I don't know which lines fit together, and i dont know if the quality of each line varies. In terms of plastic and what not. I'm a G1 guy, so which lines are best for my needs?

If you're a G1 guy ... then maybe the G1 line is for you?

Honestly, it's your collection, build it how YOU want it not on the advice of others.

If G1 is your thing you may want to consider the following:

Encore and Hasbro Reissues. Both are cheap and readily available depending on the figures that you're after. The Encore as opposed to the Hasbro will have firing and G1 accurate missiles.

The new Generations/FOC lines, in my opinion, seem to be using a thinner plastic than the previous line of figures such as the Classics, which are another great line and offer up to date interpretations of many G1 characters.

Masterpiece is another line which you should look into.

But ultimately, as Burn pointed out, it is your collection.

I'd recommend the Generations/RTS/Henkei/United lines. These mainly produce "neo-G1" figs, with designs that are based off the characters' G1 likenesses, but using similar but modern vehicles (ie. Bumblebee's VW becomes a compact car, and Jazz's Porche becomes a similar-looking modern sports car).

If you've got more of a budget, the MP line is modernized G1 perfection (QC on certain figs is another story, though).

Alternatively, you could just get the G1 reissues of the original 80's toys.

Being a G1 connoisseur, I wouldn't advise starting with the original G1 crew. It will take years to just complete the season 1 characters Completing my G1 Menasor and Defensor took me like 22 years :BANG_HEAD: Been there done that (it is not a pretty site  )

Try the MP lines (expensive but at least readily available). That's just my opinion though.....in the end ....."the power Is yours............." (oops, wrong series)
