The original transformer toys bring back a lot of memories. Good job Takara Tomy and keep up the good work with that masterpiece series.

They'll sell, because there's just enough of a market for it. However, this well will run dry soon. I mean, these characters have been re-issued what? 3 times? 4?
This is getting a little old...

So just straight up reissues, no new fancy bits. Saves me some money then.

Wow. That's a point I completely missed. Thank you, Burn.
...now, even more so....these seem completely useless to me.
I haven't been a G1 collector in some time, and I guess it hasn't changed. These just don't do anything for me. Which is odd, Masterpiece figures are based off of G1 and I love 'em to pieces.
...I'm an odd duck.

Well there is the new TakaraTomy logo, if you're a completionist.

They have G1 style boxes!
edit: oh and the price is good too, if you don't already have them. Which I don't. v:Dv

May come in handy for those of us who couldn't get earlier reissues due to them being exclusives, low production runs, or stores sold out because some need to have 4 or 5 of them.
And then there's eBay, where most of them are minimum 30% over MSRP with shipping costs that often double that.

What you guys who already have these charecters forget is, 3 of the 4 are really hard and expensive to get in as new condition. I had to pay £40 for Prime, £75 for Megs, STILL havnt found an afordable Soundwave. Of the 4, Only Starscream is relativly easy and cheap to get. I think this is a very good idea, especilly with the new wave of fans that will undoubtaly come with the movie.

I highly recomend Megs, he's fantastic in the flesh.
So is Soundwave (I actully only have Soundblaster, who has better colours (mmm black), but apart from the chest door, he's the same as Soundwave).

Did anyone notice that Soundwave has a single tape compartment and not a double?

Of course. The original SW only had one...
I too really like the G1 styled boxes. Too bad importers will have to plug Megatron again.

I for one am happy these are out. it is kinda like what happened when brave maximus came out and was 120.00 back in 2001. I never had the original fortress and didn't feel like paying 400-800 for a original one as we are not all made of money.
The prime goes the same way, i missed it when it first came out in 2002 for the tfc#0 and now those things at least run 180- 250.
the hasbro one had the short stacks which suck and the takara ones are better quality anyway.. so paying 54.00 for a brand new prime is better then paying 100 plus for a used one or new one that is over priced. soundwave is the same way, missed him when he was released a few years ago, nice to pick a brand new one in the old stye box for 49.00

While I'll probably get a Soundwave to replace my ailing one (or maybe I'll just get Reprolabels and fix mine up...), I'm more excited to see where this "line" goes--I'd be interested to see them re-release some original TFTM-related characters. How about Ultra Magnus, Wreck-gar, Gnaw, Cyclonus, and Scourge???

Pre-ordered both leaders since I have been dying for Megatron G1 for 14 years and I'm getting him for only $40 at Hobbylink and I got Optimus Prime because I don't own the original and the commemorative one with the short stacks is ugly.

Looking real good!
Are these going to come to America though?
Not that it'd be anything I don't have, but they'd still be nice to get for my niece(I'm teaching her about play toys and display toys)

I like those, actually. At first I was of the thought "bare bones reissue, that's absolutely useless", but after seeing them, I likes. No fancy boxes, they look just about like the originals. Which for me is cool cuz A) I leave the majority of my japanese TFs in the box, and B) I have all of the original versions of these loose. So I get these guys MIB for the price one of their originals would cost me. I may do that.

As they wont go out in the shops, it will probably depend on which webshop you go to.
