i got him the other day and i think he is great but looking on youtube for reviews no one likes the guy

although his head really shows in jet mode and i think that is the only thing wrong with him

One of the big things I don't like about him is the messy color scheme of blue, white, and clear pink/red. Its an interesting mold, but the big thing thats keeping me from buying it is it just is kinda painted funny.

I heard none of his gimmicks work well apart from the automorph. Apparently the spring in his left hand that launches the hook is too weak and is fact meant for the right hand where they combine for the fusion cannon. What ends up is that the cannon is too tight and does not stay together because of the strong spring in the right hand. That's just off a short review I read online though.

Also his cybertronian jet mode is pretty poor design.

Basically, he looks rather naff.

For reasons unknown, Hasbro has decided to make EVERY version of movie Megs, be it leader, voyager, statue or random crap, not shinny silver like he should be. They ALL seem to have this craptacular grey, blue n random colours...

And quite frankly, the alt mode looks pathetic.

What gets me most is that they pretty much ruined this big chance to lure more fans to like the new look of movie Megatron. He could have looked really, really menacing and powerful.

Also gets me that they got Prime pretty much spot-on but Megatron went all over the place.

That about sums it up.

But, odly enough, in robot mode, next to Leader Prime, just standing there, he looks sooooo evil.

$40 worth? Um, no. But is he a MUST-BUY? Yes. Especially if you get Leader Prime. Leader Megatron has to balance it out.

But they could have done soooo much better with this one, no doubt.

You're right, if I get Leader Megatron, it will be purely because of his robot mode aesthetic.

BUT

I probably won't, because I am just collecting 2007 Autobots, including the exclusives (my favourites are Protoform Prime and Ironhide so far), so even a mega villain like Megatron probably won't be added to my collection.

I am under the impression that the Deluxe Decepticons are much more worth value for money than the larger sizes. I don't know about Starscream, but Blackout is the only Decepticon I have. I wasn't impressed with him. I heard Barricade was impressive, and Bonecrusher was unique.

It's sad how Megatron is not the most impressive of the Decepticons like Leader Prime is the all-round most impressive of the Autobots thanks to his classic yet "new" Transformer awesomeness.

I like the guy... I hate to transform him but I like the figure as a whole...
The colour is great and as my mother stated best: That thing looks scary!

I think that is what they were going for and they succeeded hands down! But I must admit, if I had to make a choise between Megatron or Prime I would go for Optimus. This guy has 2 great modes and a very entertaining transformation! Best Transformer ever IMHO!

I like the guy too, but his alt mode is just stupid. All the Transformers have cool Earth alt modes, but Megs chooses to be stubborn and stick with his weird plane mode. It may work well in the movie, but as a toy, it's useless. He's been a tank before, why didn't they just ditch Brawl, and make him into a tank with light desert camo? Then you could have had that signature arm-cannon and everything. Megatron could have been a lot of things, many better than he is currently.

Robot mode, he looks fine to me. I like his robot mode. His fingers are lame though. Would I get him in Leader class? No, and I do have a Leader Prime. I would get him in Voyager class though. He isn't worth $40, but $20, sure. Why now. I won't be transforming him anyway.

i like my leader megs. he and my optimus leaders have duked it out for a while now. also if you switch out the fusion cannon spring to the hand launcher the figure is 100x cooler!!

I'd rather Megatron have been a stealth bomber than his Cybertronian jet. Mind you I don't mind Cybertronian modes. I like Megatron's design for the same reason I love Protoform Prime. BUT, BUT - this was not converted well into its toy incarnation for 2007.

Dont forget that Megs has been frozen on Earth for a fair while. He wont have been able to scan any vehicles, cos there weren't any when he got here. I think of this design as his Protoform in a way. He used that mode to get to Earth. I would imagine/hope that he will be reformatted for the second movie ( with a new voice please >> Welker ).

This is the assumption I allowed as well. Transformers don't naturally have Earth modes. If anything their Cybertronian alt. modes are more powerful than their Earth modes thanks to Cybertron's superior technology.

I'm just unhappy the jet for Leader Megs was executed (imo) so poorly.

I 'd say it's really the paint job. I've seen a Megatron painted silver and he looked really good, even in jet mode.

If they covered the head and maybe did a better job with the other kibble the overall shape of the plane would have been fine.

Ah he looks like a giant clear blue plastic popsical.

Well put. I always thought he should have been a stealth bomber.

You can explain the ugly alt mode on the story, sure, it works.

But the plainly visible head in jet mode?

Sorry, there's no excuse for that....

Is the head a different design from what it was originally meant to be? The plate that feebly attempts to cover up the head really is disproportionate in size to the head. I don't believe Hasbro/Takara can be that spastic, not with such a flagship figure.

Move Megs gets no love because, as has been said, he fails at life.

I rather wait a couple of months when they drop the price of both Megatron and Optimus Prime. Bit reluctant of paying 40 for either. Wish they made a repaint of Megatron with his movie colors.

Will the other smaller classes be around too? And will their price drop then?

I was thinking I would do the same thing for the other ones like Jazz and Bumblebee, although I got Prime early since I'm in Australia right now.

I wont be buying him, mainly because of the terrible paintjob he has. His alt mode is fairly lazy as well. He is not worth the AU$90-$100 stores are wanting for him. If he came down to AU$40 or so I would be tempted to buy him. If I had any painting skills, I would be happy to buy him and repaint him though.
