Our Toy Fair 2013 coverage continues as we have a little glimpse at the love Hasbro is giving out for our favorite blue, red and white Autobot, as we have 'Platinum Edition' Ultra Magnus. It is a heavy retool of a Weaponizer Optimus Prime, and features the Forge of Solus Prime. Check it out below!

Retool of Weaponizer Prime? Pass. Good effort though Hasbro, good effort. Do a retool of FE Optimus and I'm in, otherwise no thanks.

Actually, the prototype was the upcoming Beast Hunters Voyager Ultra Magnus. The Weaponizer retool is a nice sucker punch however.

Which Voyager? PRiD? If so, then it's still a pass. FE or nothing when it comes to TFP:Optimus for me.

To be clear:
- Beast Hunters Voyager Ultra Magnus is a retool of PRiD Optimus Prime
- Platinum Edition Ultra Magnus is a retool of Weaponizer Optimus Prime
Poor guy still can't catch a break.

Sorry to say this, but look at the box in the background

...And now I'm disappointed.
If I am to get this, it would only be for the Forge.

Does.... does this mean there is hope for a
Classics-ish Ultra Magnus? Hopes revived from the dead!

AH! Zombie hope! *bashes it*
Like I said before, See the box in the background there? Styled after the Platinum series, and it has that Ultra Magnus on it. To be fair, this probably is the Weaponizer Ultra Magnus that was originally announced.

Oh you don't want to give us a Ultra Magnus that combines with his trailer Hasbro?
You want to give us a remold of an already crap figure?
**** you Hasbro.

I can't hold your comments against you. You're 100% accurate. They know we want it, they saw how well the Classics version sold only AFTER FP started offering their add-on kit. The ball was in their court and they've dropped it (for now).
I still fully expect Takara to do one right in the MP line, using MP-10 in white which combines with a new trailer.

I was surprised as well when I saw it. We already knew about the Voyager retool for the main line, but a same-style retool of the Weaponizer for the collectors?
Again, sucker punch.

And easily skipped. Brownie points for the effort and the proper intentions (like keeping the design consistent between the two retools), but that's it.

Me personally, I don't have much issue with him being a Prime Weaponizer retool. My biggest beef with this figure is the colors. Red arm and hand to go with white abdominal, thigh, and feet; then to top it off he has blue face? I would've been happy if they just follow with BH Voyager UM. The second issue I have with this one is the gigantic shoulder post, it's freaky tall! Again, even the BH UM shoulder post was scale better. Despite my protest, being an UM fan, I will end up getting both. It's a nice concept but that tall shoulder post and color really kill the figure. Also, it's ashamed they didn't do a follow up of the PRID Voyager UM into Weaponizer, I really love that design.

People had been screaming for years for proper triple changers. They got Octane and Astrotrain.
But that wasn't enough, so people kept screaming for the others. Now they've given us Springer and Blitzwing.
How much louder do we have to scream for a Ultra Magnus that combines with his trailer? GAH!
I still fully expect Takara to do one right in the MP line, using MP-10 in white which combines with a new trailer.
We can only dream.

For every two things Hasbro does right (Springer and Blitzwing), they blow the third.

Uh, guys, Voyager Magnus comes w/ The Forge as well. Personally, I don't like Weaponizer OP, so this is one Platinum figure that isn't worth the high price point.

Mmm, this is the scale accurate Forge of Solus Prime I bet. I might pick it up for that.

Apparently we need to make more scream and noise whenever there's a Hasbro/Tomy panel at a convention with carrying signs just to get their attention,LOL. Yeah we haven't got cab and trailer combine since RID but that was due to Takara with their Car Robot 2000 line up. Our last resort is the MP Line, hopefully, TTomy comes to the rescue since the Magnus part is already done.
On the other hand, I'm okay with the cheaper route with UM being a Prime retool since that was the route of his toy as oppose to the straight repaint in white and called UM.
