FOC Shockwave...Get or Pass?

i was a bit disappointed about FOC Optimus' size, but i can make him work :-? in my diorama stories. i was really let down by the small size of FOC Shockwave  . i have seen that he actually comes close to the size of Generations seeker jets. is FOC Shockwave worth getting or is there a Voyager (?) class in the works i should hold out for? feedback is greatly appreciated.

There are a few options for Shockwave. The first is Energon Shockwave, who is a nice-sized figure but his arms are not all that well done.

The second is obviously this figure. He's a nice figure but in most collectors oppinions, it's too small to be a good Shockwave on a classics-style shelf.

The third is the recently-seen TF: Prime Beast Hunters Shockwave, who looks pretty good, but we really haven't seen too much of him yet. Apparently the red spiky armour can be removed.

Finally, if you wish to be patient, there is going to be a voyager-sized release of this guy, currently Masterpiece-sized. However he won't see release until 2014.

I would suggest waiting either for Prime's Shockwave or the 3rd party one unless you can get FOC Shockwave for really cheap.

As far as I'm concerned, the only problems with FoC Shockwave are that he's not Voyager-sized and he has a 3-barrel cannon instead of old-school single-barrel. Otherwise, it's near perfection, considering what we can expect from Hasblow these days.

I did NOT know about this. Mine. MINE!!!

Try this out:
Other have disagreed with me, vocally, as only online forum users can (Image), because he's too small compared to all the iterations of the character ever. But, in my mind, I explain his size by considering him the evil genius, plotter, schemer behind the throne.
Small size? Who cares, the sole idea of him is terrifying!

Get the figure, it's a good 'un. :D

Couldn't agree more.

That mold is a nice mold. Just depends on how you want to do with him or where to put him. I passed on Shockwave but bought his remold Air Raid and he is a lot of fun.

You also dismantled it to create Space Case, not sure that still counts. Image

It is a good representation of the mold. Not a great one, but a pretty good one for a deluxe. I was stoked when I saw the initial pictures of him, and then when I found it at the store I was kind of put back. I got it, and am happy with it. But I hope a better one comes out eventually.

wow, that's a lot more input than i counted on. i am creating a dio story based on the games: War For Cybertron and Fall Of Cybertron (as well as the comic War Within). i will go ahead and get FOC Shockwave and use a bit of forced perspective in the pics i take. thanks again for all the great input!

I think he's worth picking up, though I echo others in stating he's too small. I'm currently using the FansToys version that Mkall referred to as my neo-classics Skockwave. He's meant to scale with the MP line, but I think he looks okay on a classics shelf as well. Afterall G1 Shockwave towered over the rest of the Decepticons, so I'm cool with that happening in classics.

If you want my two cents, FoC Shockwave works fine and dandy if you have other FoC figures repurposed as G1 Cybertronian forms. Ok, I cheat a little with scale, I use a smaller scale for Cybertronian forms, and a regular one for Earth Mode figures.

 Great way of putting it! The need to replace him isn't as strong any more :D

Kinda late to the party, I know, but I'll just add my two cents' worth anyway.

FoC Shockwave is actually in scale with his fellow FOC toys. In the cutscene after Megatron chases a newly-coronated Starscream from the gladiatorial arena, you can see that Shockwave is shorter than Megs. So he's not quite as large as some might imagine.

In short, I recommend getting him if you have a dedicated FOC shelf on display, but he's way too small to scale in with your neo-G1 toys, especially if MP-10 OP is your chosen G1 Optimus.

I think FOC shockwave is pretty cool. He is definitely fun to pose.

I put those Cyclonus legs on him for a little more height.

I disagree with a lot of the size complaints. He's a tad taller than the Classics Seeker mold (his eye meets their foreheads); that's good enough for me.

There's also this still from "Revenge of Bruticus" where Shockwave is a tad taller than Starscream, considering they're right next to each other. But again, I won't complain either way.

 I actually had quite some fun with him before "off with your head". Air Raid is the recently rare figures I've seen Hasbro did very well on the coloring.

Except for the Combaticons.

But he does scale well with Generations Megatron, Soundwave, and starscream, and in my display the four gather, like a Decepticon high command war council.

And, of course, it's Shockwave, and his first new Hasbro mold in a while. He's worth getting for that reason alone.

Fair point.

Still, the movie aesthetic divides some folks, and I'd consider Aligned Shockwave much closer to his G1 incarnation and his movie self to be far less interesting, if better scaled.

I agree.

Speaking of Movie Shockwave, I'd have preferred a DMK kit for him rather than a toy. He doesn't even transform in DOTM, so you might as well make the most of it and have a non-transforming, but super-accurate and in-scale figure of him.

Ditto DOTM Megatron, although he does have an alt mode.
