Obsidian looks great. Now, I need to see his faction to learn if Strika and Obsidian will be allies or enemies.

Another thing...why do I see so many people get upset about the addition of new characters in Machine Wars, especially these characters, when they specifically "warned" us that they were doing this beforehand? :???:

Because they don't pay attention and/or missed the announcement. :P

As for Obsidian, I like it, but would have preferred this:

Ok, then I challenge you to name them. ;)

I'ght

D.O.T.M Skyhammer

Movie Incinerator

F.O.C Vortex (kept him scale with Strika)

H.F.T.D Tomahawk (though over used)

There are few common themes in these figures that make them better for the homage. One, they are figures small enough to stay in relative scale with strika, and they are stelth and military helicopters, which fit within the relm of homage.

DotM Skyhammer: He only has one rotor, I'm predicting him for Sandstorm.
Movie Incinerator: That could have worked actually, if it wasn't for the lack of hands
FOC Vortex: Too recent, molds have to be at least a year old. Plus, only one rotor
HftD Tomahawk: Already used for 2012 Spinister, and again, one rotor.

You just asked for molds, I have no control on whether or not fupub can use them, or reuse them, plus there have only been a few Osprey molds, so you kinda have to reach for helicopters for the homage XD

True, but that would be cutting corners, even for FunPub.

So what if the Incinerator figure doesn't have hands. Obsidian's first toy didn't have hands either.

There's a line between homage, and missing the point, this is nowhere near the line  Though it is great just because of the beast of a figure it is XD

I dig the new head sculpt, but traditionally, Obsidian was a but shorter than Strika. I don't recall Obsidian being that neon.

Give me another Decepticon!

Sounds like the only acceptable mold for an Obsidian homage is the original Obsidian mold, since any minor difference brings up complaints.

Only his toy was puny.

Could be due to the lighting but...

We're never getting a show-colored Obsidian, are we?

I do wish Obsidian and Strika were the same size-class, but I don't think the available molds allow for that. Well, with decent results at least.

Okay, I can see it: two rotors near the shoulders, skinny legs...not so skeptical anymore.

Still, I wish it was a helicoptor. They make badass vehicle modes.

Calm thyself. Jeez...

We still have the walk-in figures to think of. Plus the fifth figure of the 5-box set. It's more than likely we might see Megatron/Megaplex and Optimus as additional sets.

Likewise. Beast Machines should never be touched only if they're rocking an all in, well designed Anniversary molds that are show accurate.

Love It. When they revealed Strika, the Highbrow mold is one of the two figures I hoped Obsidian would use, the other being RTS Lugnut. And I don't understand the complaints of "This is not Machine Wars". FunPub said they were going to add new characters to the series. Strika and Obsidian are both from Beast MACHINES and we really have no character history for them besides Strika being a great general from a past war and Obsidian being a guardian of Cybertron who's loyal only to the planet. And when it comes to the way these figures look physically, doesn't anybody remember that the bodies they had in Beast Machines were only drone bodies given to them by Megatron? So why can't they look like this? And Obsidian looks better in green than that greyish blue.

Well, for starters, how's about something that turns into a helicopter? You know, the way Obsidian did? I'm sure that's a real stretch, but...

Hell man, even that Lugnut digibash looks better than this, and I LOVE that Highbrow or whoever mold. New head looks very nice though.

I hope that you weren't talking about me. I wasn't upset. I was just curious. I figured that there was a good chance that I missed it or didn’t know where to look. I was just asking for clarification or a reminder. I don't have a problem with it, it makes sense to me, and I appreciate what Jelze and Sabr said.

I haven’t bothered to go to Botcon.com but now that I did I thought the info was cool:

“02/21/2013 - Here is our 4th reveal... MACHINE WARS Obsidian! Originally featured on the Beast Machines cartoon alongside his consort Strika, Obsidian is a Cybertronian General and a NEW addition to the MACHINE WARS line and mythos. He is available EXCLUSIVELY as part of the 5 figure MACHINE WARS box set. Keep tuned in here as these toys will be available for purchase through our registration system very soon.”

Well, looks like the last figure will be the deciding factor as to wether I go to Botcon this year or wait for Slagacon.

As of now, we have 2 good figures, Hoist and Strika, and 2 crap figures, Skywarp and Obsidian.
