That other topic got me thinking, has there been any new rumors of official g1 Dinobot reissues? I heard rumors a couple years back and I've also heard the molds are broken.

If the KO companies can make decent G1 Dino KOs, why can't hasbro do something similar?

Anyone know how these KOs are made?

I know they really range in quality, but the one KO I own is of the classics voyager optimus and he seems just like the original, much higher in quality then some of the recent hasbro ball joint hips, hollow cheap plastic voyagers hasbro has put out recently.

My understanding is that they were good to go with the project, but Snarl's mold (IIRC) was broken beyond repair. If they couldn't do the whole set then it isn't worth the fan rage to have an incomplete team see release. Think Encore Devastator without Long Haul.

I believe that the KOs are made by creating a casting of a figure's parts, then analyzing that cast, and then making a mold around that analysis. Hence why the KOs are very similar, yet lacking some of the minor details of the original figures.

Hasbro on the other hand makes their molds from scratch. I suppose in this day and age it's conceivable to do something with laser scanners, but the level of detail needed to reproduce something so precisely as the original that it may not be worth what Hasbro would have to charge fans to make up the cost.

Licencing is also an issue which the KO'ers dont need to worry about, but will affect Hasbro's decision making.

You wish! Btw the sarcasm wasn't meant for you but to the cruel circumstances that makes those molds unavailable to us lesser mortals
