So, I just picked these up today at a couple of stores here in Korea. Upon opening them I found that the toy is packed in robot mode with a different plastic tray. I already have these from Robotkingdom and they came in vehicle mode. I haven't found any other differences and it feels genuine. Has anyone else seen them packaged like this.

Also of note, the light bar with Red Alert is an optional accessory. It has been removed due to the packaging and fits in nice and securely. BTW, there were 3 more Sideswipes on the shelf. I can pick them up if anyone needs them. They would be $55/£36 with shipping.

That is interesting to know, thanks for sharing. If the MP box has window, I would definitely be getting the robot package in a heartbeat. Too bad, the toy colors themselves are not variant e.g. white leg on Red Alert just like the cartoon, then I would beg you get one for me, lol.

can't say no to offer of Sideswipe at £36. If you could pick one up that'd be great. I'll PM.

Ok guys, I've had a few offers and it's only fair if I do it first come first serve. There are a couple of paint errors but nothing to the extents I've heard they can be. Craggy and alldarker watch for my pm.

Seibertron.com member Trikeboy has reporting finding packaging variants for Takara Tomy's recently released Masterpiece figures MP-12 Lambor and MP-13 Red Alert. Unlike their previous Masterpiece figures these two came packaged in vehicle mode, however Trikeboy recently purchased the pair from a Korean retailer and to his surprise they came packaged in robot mode! Additionally, Red Alert's light bar comes packaged as a separate accessory due to the alternate packaging. No other differences are reported. Take a look at his images below.

Would you be able to tell us which retailer?

If this means this was a separate run with a better or more even paint job for Sideswipe, I'm all over it.

Is it possible these could be a really good knock off? Why would they bother producing packaging variants like that otherwise?

Red Alert was purchased from Asem Hobby in Yongsan. There was only one left when I went. There is another branch which I will be checking out. He was more expensive than Sideswipe for some reason. Here is the product page on their website: http://thehobbyshop.co.kr/product/product_detail.asp?product_number=21395. They do have Sideswipe listed too but he wasnt in stock and is more expensive than what I paid for elsewhere. In that store I have previously picked up MP09, MP10 and United figures.

Sideswipe was purchased from Toy Outlet in I Park Mall, Yongsan. They recently had a huge intake of Transformers. I got Kreon combiners there and Prime Legends. They also got in Alternity Galvatron and Banzaitron, FOC G2 Bruticus, Prime Orion Pax and Thundercracker and that Movie 1 Leader class pack of Megatron and Optimus Prime. The paint job is the original for Megatron before you get excited. http://blog.naver.com/PostList.nhn?blogId=toy_ipark&categoryNo=0&from=postList

Korea has a bad reputation for knock offs and I have seen enough to know that is true. If these are knock offs, they are very VERY good knock offs. I don't believe they are.
