What is Revoltech and Hybrid Style? Are they worth getting? ALSO: Hasbro or Takara Beast Wars?!

Sorry for asking what must seem to be an obvious question, but what is Revoltech? They look like super-posable mini figures to me, but is there more to them than that? Do they still transform?
Also what are the Hybrid Style Transformers? Are they worth getting? Or should I just get Masterpiece?
???

I just bought the Revoltech Prime, its not here yet but from the pics that I have seen I'll like it. Its just a super poseable figure. Doesn't transform. Now on the other hand the Hybrid style figures are pretty cool. I have the G1 Op, and its like having a Mini Masterpiece figure. Very tiny about 4" maybe. I love the Hybrid Prime. I hope to find the Galaxy Force Op too. But I recommend buying both.

As saintsfan1983 said, Revoltech is nonetransformable. Personally I dont care for the Prime design they've gone for.
There are currently only two Hybrid seires tfs, Galaxy Convoy (Cyb Prime) and G1 Convoy (G1 Prime). Galaxy Convoy was mostly a scaled down exact replica of the larger version, pretty nice, slightly more posable (espcilly in supermode) but dogged with QC issues (mine is far frome perfect).
The G1 Convoy is a work of art though. His Transformation is similer (though not identical) to MP Convoy/20th Prime, and his alt mode could be better (it's generally a good idea to atach the cab to the trailer, cuase it improves the looks of the alt mode quite a bit) but the robot mode, it's fantastic.
IMO he is the most posable version of Convoy/Prime ever made (although I havent seen any Revoltech in the flesh, so I may be wrong now). He is conciderably more stable than MP/20th too, which really helps, and has more accessories than you can throw an energon cube at.
In short, cant recomend Revoltech cuase I dont have em, THS-01 Galaxy Convoy is nice, but rare (now) and has QC issues, and THS-02 is a work of art, and although the first version is getting rather expensive now, you can still pick up the black one with G2 Trailer (and even more accessories) for a price (not cheap as it may be) at most online tf stockists.
THS-01 Galaxy Convoy
THS-02 G1 Convoy
Zoom out of my desk, including 20th Prime for an idea of scale.

Wow. I had no idea of the scale! They look cool, but I think I'll pass on the Hybrid Style figures! Thanks for posting pics Redimus!

I couldn't recommend them enough. Ironicly enough last night I went on a transforming spree with my THSs. I'm eagerly awaiting the THS-02b (Black version of THS G1 Convoy with G2 Cannons, and different head sculpt)
As for the Revoltechs, I would also have to say that is another HUGE yes. Unlike Red, I addore Pat Lees designs and the use of the revoltech design really brings out it's collection value. Alex Kingdom recently did a gallery of R-Convoy and friendship exclusive R-Magnus.
If you have money to burn, those four figures are very well worth it.

to be honest, the revoltech prime has issues. surprisingly he can't hold his gun without his arm falling, which is the first revoltech that has issues holding its accerries, but other than that it is an awesome figure, its about the same size as MP primes blue part of his leg. hes a cool figure worth checking out, dispite the arm problem, it could be just mine though.

I own THS-01 and THS-02. THS-01 had a few issues with mine and wernt on all of them but some did have the same issues. On my Galaxy Convoy one of his shoudlers was really loose. And then in his fire engine form one of the "wings" that forms the side of the track would not sit flush it was out at a 20 or so degree angle and well that kind of ruined it for me.
THS-02 "Command" Convoy is just simply a masterpiece IMHO. I totally dig the little guy! He just comes with so much and his psoeability is phenominal. I also have the E Hobby black exclusive on order from BBTS, which should be out at the end of this year.
I have both Revoltech Convoy and Ultra Magnus and I love the extreme poseability in them. I happen to not mind the Pat Lee look so they dont bother me. The only thing I would change would be better articulation in the shoulders and the gun to be long (seems squished).
I would recomend them all to anybody, though THS-01 Galaxy Convoy to only those who really like Galaxy Convoy.

Revoltech is a line if highly articulated plastic figures manufactured by Kaiyodo under licence from the owners of well know and popular cartoons, Amine and video games in Japan. Like all other Revoltech figures Convoy and Magnus do not Transform, but they are riddled with multidirectional 'revolver' joints making them more posable than any Transformer you are likely to own. Prime and Magnus are very stylised and designed to represent the look he had in the Dreamwave Comic books, there is very little in the way of truck parts on them other than the windows and the smoke stacks, they are definitely not accurate to any existing Convoy/Magnus toy. The guns are a little over-sized and weighty and can cause their arms to drop under the weight. Personally I really like this figures, its nice to have ultra articulated and stylised Transformers figures without the Transformation compromising the look of robot mode or articulation. Click my sig to see what I mean.
The 'Hybrid Style' line was introduced by Takara as a step in quality between Masterpiece and Binaltech. Like Masterpiece and Binaltech the contain both diecast and plastic parts and Transform. Of the two G1 Convoy is considered to be the better as he does not suffer the production/quality issue many of the Galaxy Convoys do. However both G1 Convoy's alt-mode and surprisingly his robot mode suffer due to the transformation scheme. IMO in robot mode he look very fat in the body with no real waist and very skinny arms and legs, and the flaws in his alt-mode are well documented. However he does come with a lot of accessories including a Transforming Trailer and jet pack, and he is very articulated. If you looking for a tiny highly poseable version of G1 Convoy this would be a good bet.

Thanks for the help everyone, I think I'll pass on the Hybrid Style, but I'm definitely getting Revoltech Optimus Prime!
Rather than start a new thread, can I just ask here what everyone's thoughts are on the 10th anniversary Beast Wars figures? I'm really preferring Takaras stuff these days, to me they've always provided us with better packaging, better paint applications and of course, many of their figures include die-cast metal. I find the joints seem to be stiffer on Takara figures too, which is good because it makes the figure solid and capable of holding a weapon without the arm falling.
I don't mean to turn this thread into Hasbro vs Takara/Tomy, but I visited the Takara/Tomy site the other day and just saw how much cool stuff they have. Hasbro do have their equivalents, but I'm not a kid anymore and so I'm looking for the highest quality figures to collect.

Personally I don't care for beastwars stuff, but if you can get 10th Primal and Megatron (original colors) then they are worth it. Other then that, few beast wars figures appeal to me. Your better to get a possitive response out of AK then myself though.

End of the year sure came fast...BBTS says they should be in in two weeks, if I was not mistaken.
I have all four figures. My favorite would be the Hybrid G1 Prime. All the accessories and the excellent, poseable robot mode make him a must to me.
The Revoltechs are a bit disappointing, but not badly priced and are super poseable.
Hybrid GF Prime is cool, but flawed. I still like him, but would not recommend him except to completionists, or lovers of the mold.
