Help with price estimation

I've been meaning to sell off my old Transformers which I had collected as a child and I need some help with estimating what they are actually worth. I checked ebay to get a general idea about the price, but am not sure how realistic they are.

All the figures are loose and have sadly no instructions, they have the usual signs of being used, but most are in good condition.

I had asked tfsource last year how much they would offer, it was about 300$ or 400$, but I'm not sure how reliable that estimate was.

Any help and/or opinions are greatly appreciated.

Keep in mind when you're selling to a retailer, you're selling to a retailer. What they will pay you is NOT what it's worth. Expect their offer to be well under half the actual value.

Watch Pawn Stars. You'll get the gist of the sale. ;)

I think what worries me more is if people are still interested in the older figs^^

Can't help you with with your question, but I'd buy most of them if I saw them in a store for not too outrageous a price.

What's worrisome about that?

Crikey! It's the elusive anti-GEEWUNER! This creature can't stand anything that created the brand or is considered a 'brick.' :HEADHURTS:

Keep in mind there's a big difference in price depending on whether you're selling each figure individually, in small lots, or as one large lot. The more figures you bundle together, the less you'll get for each (generally speaking).

And as mentioned above, it also make a big difference whether you're selling to a collector or a dealer.

Yes, that's why I decided against selling to tfsource at the time. It's hard to balance between what a realistic price is and what people are willing to pay.

I do hope the prices I set reflect the quality of the items and don't seem absurd.

There's a Market for every figure. Someone will want it. Just sell it separately or in small lots (groups that makes sense, combiner, minibots, ect.) on ebay. It might take some time to sell everything but that's probably your best bet to get the most out of your collection.

I just noticed that the Inferno I have is dated Hasbro 1980, 1982. Should that be correct?

Copyright dates do not reflect release years, rather the year the mold was designed, which nowadays is usually a year earlier. Generation 1 first used toys that were released years earlier in Japan, either Diaclone or Microman, so those molds had years like 1980 or even 1970's due to how Japanese copyright law worked.

That I was aware of, although with the G1 toys having Takara on them. Since I can't remember when I got them and tried to date it as either 1985 or 1991 model I thought it might have been an error.
