Oh Yeah...

Has anyone else ever been looking through threads with toy pics here, and saw a picture and thought "Man, I wish I had that figure!" Then about ten minutes later, something pops in your brain and you look up on your shelf and think "Oh yeah! I DO have that figure!" Yeah I just got that.

Was looking through the awesome poses threat and saw a picture of the cone head seekers. Looked at Dirge and thought

"Yeah, they're not as cool as the original seekers, but Dirge was pretty cool. Wish I had that figure."
.
.
.
"Oh wait..."

I totally forgot that he was on my shelf beside Ramjet. Then I noticed Cyclonus behind him and I thought "Oh yeah! I got that one too! :D"

Damnit brain. I swear it's old-age setting in.

I so know what you mean!

I do this on a regular basis with Transformers comic books, ordering the same issue twice from different sellers! :-?

Due to current space issues, I have loads of my figures still MISB and stored away, so I often forget which ones I have bought recently or a while ago, which usually leads me to pulling the boxes down and having to take a proper look.

There must be something about the Coneheads because the amount of times I have had to check which ones I own and ones missing is just crazy! :HEADHURTS:

I have a rather large list of comic book wants which I have added Transformers figures to so I can remember... :-$

Not happened to me, I keep a list.

Lists are your friend if you have large collection.

Honestly, I can't say I do.

But I suppose it depends on collecting habits.

My collection does not reach 100 figures overall, and even then, some are in Italy (display and storage), some in the UK (display and in storage). I know exactly what is where, what I'm missing or would like to have - BH Shockwave and FoC Starscream. I'm bringing the toy collection to a close, and those are the last figures I want, as Grimlock is arriving soon from Canada.

As for comics, I only buy trades from past runs and issues from the three current ongoings, with a pull list at my comic shop, so it's highly unlikely I'll buy a double! Re-reading them several times for the reviews also means I remember what happens more easily, and all the covers used for that issue.

That's just because us collectors are getting older, especially those of us old enough to remember G1 when it came out. :P

I don't have this problem (or not yet) since I don't have that many also (not yet reach 100 mark). However, my problem is sometimes when I looked at a character, suddenly I couldn't remember his name. Keep thinking and still couldn't figure out. Then I had to look on my web and then "oh yeah! His name is blah blah". Of course this won't happen to those popular characters but those non essential characters.

That has not happened to me. I also don't think it would. My collection is very focused. I know what I have and what I want. I also keep a spreadsheet of everything I have. It helps keep things organized.

Truthfully, this is why I signed up for Shmax.
I can reference it anywhere with my Android and keep it updated on my home Mac.

My memory is definitely not what it used to be, so being able to access my collection info at any time has been a savior of mine on multiple occasions.

I need to keep a record too. I unintentionally have as much as three of the same quite a bit throughout my collection. Hopefully some will work out as decent trades.

It's worse when you're out and buy something you already have.
That's never happened to me with Transformers but it HAS happened to me with Matchbox and Hotwheels cars.

I've got aver 320 and it's never happened to me. I have them all in a database but I've never seen a figure on my shelf and been surprised about it.

My gf borrowed legends OP without telling me. She needed a reference for a birthday gift she was making. I noticed it was missing within minutes of her taking it.

See, here's the thing. I have well over 500 items from G1 to Prime (I'm including minicons because they're awesome). So once in a while I'll be like "Oh, I did buy that guy. Cool!" It more happens when I go around on this site or another site and see a picture of a figure and think "Have I got that one?" If I'm out shopping and I see one I don't have, I instantly know weather or not I have it already. It's a weird sense. It only works with Transformers though it seems, because I once bought two copies the same Transmetropolitan trade paperback in the same month. D'oh!

That's clearly because TFs are more important to you.

Never happened. And I believe I have over 300 figs?

Also, if you pointed to a figure on my shelf, I can tell you exactly how I got it. (Where I bought it/Who gave it). Can't remember when I got it though.

I do that all the time. I will be fiddling around with a figure and I'll remember when I bought it and where. It freaks my fiancee out because I can remember when and where I bought what when she was with me.

Shmax tells me I have over 800 figures and I have never done this. I did do that with TF Classics Volume 4 though just this past weekend. I'd forgotten I already had it at home and bought a duplicate by accident. I do have around 18 Classics Junkions altogether though and six Botcon Junkticons. Still have Botcon Wreck-Gar on ebay if anyone is looking. ;)
