The Definitive Transformers Collecting Thread, for New comers to the Hobby..

I have wrestled with this for a few days now, and I have decided that This shall be my last post, so I figured I'd try to give back to the fandom and those who are just joining:

I wanted to start off by saying to those who are new to the Transformers Hobby, Welcome!!!

And to those who are just getting back into it, Welcome Back!!

Wether you are just getting into the Transformers from the Movie, or have been a long time fan, or haven't really been a fan since the Original TV show aired; this thread is for you.

As a Newly and proud, Transformers toy collector, I have found some great figures, and some not so great figures. There are rip-offs and authentic transformers on the secondary Market. There are figures that go for losts of Money, and those that are surprisingly cheap.

So if your new to the Hobby and don't know where to start, this thread is our Fandom's help and guide. It can be kinda confusing at times as to what to buy and what not to buy.

Have no fear...

So what I think is that we should Break them up into series, and from Fan feed back we should label what are the Definitive characters from each series, that a new collector, or even one with little money should consider getting?

Lets be clear, what handful of chracters do we as fans recommend a person new to the hobby, should buy, that defines a specific series of the Transfomers? Any side characters and such that person could always go back and pick them up later, but what I want to see for the New fan is a guide as to what to pick up that really is the defining Toy from each series, and what the going $ rates should be for that particular figure.

Lets give them just the basics, say 10 figures.. if they want to go over that then thats cool, but for this thread just the must haves please.. :D

So far there are these series:

Generation one:

Generation Two:

Head Masters:

Super god Master Force:

Victory:

Beast Wars:

Beast Machines:

Machine Wars:

Beast Wars 2:

Beast Wars Neo:

Car Robots/Robots in disguise:

Transformers Armada:

Transformers Energon:

Transformers Cybertron/Galaxy Force:

Transformers Universe:

Binaltech/Alternators:

Star Wars Transformers:

Titaniums 3" and 6":

Kiss Players:

Classics:

Robot Heroes:

Sports Label:

Music label:

Robot Masters:

Zone:

Transformers Animated:

Botcon Exclusives:

Sandiego Comic Con Exclusives:

Anything else:

So as you can see, there are plenty of series to choose from, we as fans will choose just one series and give a little advise as to what to buy from that particular series.

My pick........

Transformers Cybertron/Galaxy Force:

1. Leader Class Optimus Prime.-$25.00 to $50.00
He is a definite buy if your into this series and want a good representation of that particular figure. I would stay away from the THS-01 Figure as he is too small and not really worth the money..

Others to pick up:

2. Leader class Megatron-$25.00 to $65.00
3. Ultra Class Starscream-$25.00 to $65.00
3. vector prime-$10.00 to $25.00
4. Crosswise-$10.00 to $15.00
5. Primus, if you can afford it...
6. excellion-$16.00 to $20.00
7. Sideways-$10.00
8. Soundwave-$10.00 to $35.00
9. unicron (tank Version)-$10.00
10.Dark Crumple Zone -$10.00

The dollar amounts above are according to ebay, and are inflated due to the Movie popularity.. they may drop or rise over time.. this is just a reflection of what the market going rate is at the time I did this post..

Those are my picks, but I'm sure other fans have a better defining choice...either way, this is just advice, you can choose which ever series and what ever you like.. but we can help if necessary..so don't be shy, create an account, its free, and ask some questions..

Though our fandom looks crazy and fighting mad at times, it is really just a passion we hold because this toyline, concept, and Storyline we hold dear to our hearts and imagination.. We don't bite, come on in and post, ask some questions, we are always glad to help one another, the more fans the bigger this series becomes, and the more merchandise and quality figures may come our way!!

Welcome to Collecting the Transformers, and Good Luck!!

Also what Skywarp-2 Post wouldn't be complete without Pictures!!!

My favorite all time Figures I own so far are:

Reissue Takara Tomy Optimus Primal:

Come on, you shouldn't be "burned out" from posting on a forum. I thought this stuff was meant to be fun. 8)

For me, I only started with this new movie toy line. I would say imho the must-haves are:

1. Leader PRime and Protoform Prime.

2. 08 Bumblebee.

3. Leader Brawl, if the rumours are true and you can afford it.

4. Ironhide.

5. Barricade.

Actually let me take this opportunity to get the record straight before I leave for awhile...

1. I don't think "this forum is so Cruel."
2. I am not leaving "forever."
3. I will still keep my account

I'm just burned out on all the collecting, conversations and such. This site is such a great resource, so much so that it is distracting for me. I have to concentrate on my Business, and want to make sure it succeeds. So, with the Website abstinence that I am undertaking I hope it will urge me to be more focused on my company. Seibertron.com is like Crack! I wonder if there are support groups out there?? :-?

Anyhow...I thought I'd atleast clear the air..about that..

Later guys

MP-03 Starscream (will be selling soon because I want the anime color scheme)
MP-04 Optimus Prime w/ trailer
MP-05 Megatron
Alt Jazz
Alt Prowl

Just recently bought the following:

Pepsi Prime
DVD Edition Prime

And have the following preordered:

Encore 01 Optimus Prime
Encore 02 Megatron
Encore 03 Soundwave
Encore 04 Starscream

Jazz.ca, if you get Alt Jazz, remember to get reprolabels for him, he looks awesome with them.

too bad you left, I was kinda a fan of your posts, they were one of the most interesting, and entertaining here in these forums. You had some great ideas and never followed what everyone else thought, and was proud of it. Individuality is a rarity and refreshing these days, Come back soon!

Well, I just saw the movie and I gotta say wow!!! nice job. I am new to these forums, though I would browse and read alot of posts. There are certainly alot of Fans that are very "hyper" and "passionate" about the Transformers!!

I grew up with the Beast Wars Saga, and I have already got almost all the movie figures. I would like to get some Beast Wars toys. So my question is, who an what are the "essentials?"

Where do I buy them from?

Well, I'm kinda too lazy to actually post on the topic, but good luck with your business Skywarp-2. Hah, I agree, this place is pretty addictive, I'm on here most of my work day.

I dunno, there's a lot of must-have figures but it would take a while to think of which ones to list off... I'm sure other people will be more enthusiastic.

I've been collecting for a few years now, and my collection's getting fairly large... I should get around to counting one of these days.

Wow, your post thingy got really wild for some reason???

Ok for me, I think i found what the essentials are for the Beast Wars series. I'm gonna go with the Takara reissues.
-Optimus Primal
-Rhinox
-Black Arachnia
-Megatron
-Waspinator
-Cheetor
-Dinobot
-Tigatron
-Archadis
-Chorada

well for now any ways those are the ones I just bought on ebay and HLJ. BBTs and Hobby Link Japan are mostly sold out!!
I can't wait for them to release Silverbolt, he's one of my favorites!

I don't read your posts, but in scrolling through them, sentences jump out occasionally, and this was one of them! I knew as soon as I read it though, that I'd see at least one more post from you in this topic (it is only 2 pages thus far). Sometimes I hate being right.

But seriously, follow through. And don't come back.

Btw, can I get a show of hands as to who actually waded through that entire post?

The key to effective writing is brevity.

Brevity is... wit?

Hah...yeah my connection was really messed up for a while. :?

That's pretty harsh. You can't tell someone not to come back, unless they've committed something worthy of 'banination'.

Oh, and unless you were joking (I can't tell sometimes with people, stupid me), brevity = 'briefness'.
