Which Ultra Magnus is your updated G1 Ultra Magnus

I know many of you only put Transformers in their respective toy line, that makes sense and is fun. Generations with Generations, Beast Hunters with Beast Hunters, etc.

For those of you who mix and match, which Ultra Magnus figures have you bought and where have you placed them?

We have recently received:

Ultra Magnus Beast Hunters
Ultra Magnus PRID
Ultra Magnus Generations

I still have the FansProject City Commander on my shelf as Ultra Magnus, but that Platinum Magnus is starting to tempt me. I just need more pics and comparison shots.

I don't have one. Bring on a decent Generations version please, Hasbro!

If I'm to replace my G1 Magnus with anything it would be the Platinum version.

Animated Leader Ultra Magnus still reign supreme.

For me since UM is my main collection, I divide him into 2 lines. The G1 UM line and the all other Incarnation UM line. I don't mix match my UM figures with other TF figures
So to answer the question, I don't really have an update version. But if I have to choose one, it's probably the PRID version. I really love his robot mode, too bad he's not in the show. But then again, I don't have the BH version just yet so that could change later on.

My favorite is and so far always will be Classics UM with City Commander. Unless they make a MP Magnus WITH a transforming trailer.

Call me when HasTak actually makes a complete Classics UM. White Classics Prime is good and all, but it's hideously incomplete. City Commander is great, but I haven't been able to rationalize the price.

I don't actually own a Magnus yet. I've been getting more and more obsessed with getting MP-02, but he's so f-ing expensive now.

FansProject City Commander is mine. I do have the Titanium version knocking around somewhere but FP-CC is miles better.

That's some fine work...better than I could ever produce. For me it's no doubt United UM with FP armor. Until HasTak decides to make a worthy representation of the G1 (not including MP) this version shall remain constant.

In a solid second is AM Ultra Magnus, I just love this guy and feel he surpasses Hasbro's version...'nuff said!

Classics with City Commander. Along side G1 in alt mode. I love G1 Magnus in alt mode. It looks classy and City Commander is the closest release yet that homages the G1.

Everything else falls very short of that bar.

That is a very interesting and cool statement. Can you give us an idea of who fits in to each category? Or the full list, or pics, or a link to a pic of your UM collection. Thanks!

Classics Ultra Magnus has been my updated UM for years. Beautiful figure on its own, and his portrayal in the Dreamwave comic was cool and provided a good background/explanation of the character/figure.

Animated UM is pretty epic. Classics with city commander armor does look the most accurate and looks pretty nice. I don’t own either of those. Powerizer might scale the best with the other figures, especially since Springer is now a voyager.

I was excited for all of the recent UM figures. I was thinking that UM PRID would be my updated UM. I like how he has enough elements of UM to be UM but is his own mold and not just a repaint. When I saw BH UM I was certain he would be my new UM. He has the shoulder towers and chest plate. Now that I have opened him I’m not convinced. He is an excellent and convincing Transformers PRID/BH UM, but I don’t think he fits well enough to be the classics. He is too thin and too grey, but his shoulders and head do say UM. Really any will work well enough. Now that I am thinking about it, a minor retool BH Optimus might make a good UM, the cab over truck is more accurate, and the figure looks buff and all armored up. He even has small shoulder towers.

Do you ever think that Hasbro makes them 80% like the character but not 95% so that we keep buying the different ones? (Not including Masterpiece ones, most of those are 100% accurate.)

yes! feeling this for quite sometime.

I was hesitant to answer this question, as typically (so as not to annoy the powers that be) I try not to mention third party products outside of the appropriate sub-forum. But, since at least half of the other posters have given this answer as well, chock me up as another fan of the original Classics Ultra Magnus with the Fansproject City Commander armor.

wow! nice set you have there. Animated Arcee and Blurr's alt mode are the only bits that bug me really. I've got most of that lot myself too. Waiting on Generations Springer though, and don't have the full proper City Commander kit. Would still like a better Magnus (and a larger Wheelie, but apparently the GDO one was impossible to find and only sells online for megabucks) but really, Arcee is the glaring omission there. Roll on Botcon and SDCC Generations/Thrilling 30 reveals.
