The instructions show some exhaust pipes on the sides but mine doesn't have any. I'm assuming they were removed for safety or some bullshit?

May be leftovers from the PRiD Optimus instructions.

They were removed but I don't know why. Maybe to make UM a little more different than Optimus perhaps?

I bought one Saturday, and it didn't have them with it.......so it's intentional?

It is, probably to get more clearance for that huge backpack of his. No retooling has been done, the holes are still there.

On the positive aspect, without the smokestack is show accurate. Before UM makes the debut in TF:Prime, I was pissed off that the BH UM did not come with the smokestack especially when the box ad shows he has one. Now it's forgiven since he does not have it too in the show.

That was my assumption as well. He hasn't got them in the show either.

They don't interfere with the back pack when attached to Prime so thats a plus. I have it on prime instead. Of the 2 UM figures for TF Prime, I personally like the RID version more, everything is more proportional in size. His head is so small in the BH version

It's not a piece you can just leave off the commander mold, lol. It'd leave a little gaping hole there. Granted, there are tab holes on the voyager, but they aren't as bad, and I guess they just didn't want to remold that piece.

I think they were removed to leave plenty of clearance for the jetpack. Good to hear that they're not present on anyone's.
