The Spacebridge facebook page has shared some really interesting Transformers Generations One prototype images. We've mirrored a few of their images below, visit The Spacebrige facebook page for many more obscure Transformers prototypes and design sketches.

This crazy colored G1 Megatron was a proposed reissue that was ultimately scrapped because he was still too much of a gun.

Here'a couple of early prototypes for the G1 City-formers Metroplex and Trypticon.

Image

Image

This early concept for the G1 Predacons featured Razorclaw with a head that transformed into the head for Predaking.

Here we have a look at the G1 Unicron prototype, this version came with an orbiting moon accessory and featured a voice changing feature.

This Cyclonus prototype was originally used as a model by the animators of the 1986's Transformers: The Movie.

Lastly we have some images of the unreleased G2 Protectobots.

I'm looking at my Cyclonus and I am not a happy camper anymore.

Ditto. 15 years ago, I saw pics of a Cyc prototype in ship mode atop a stand, and it looked so much bigger and more accurate than the real deal that I suddenly became underwhelmed by the second-hand one I'd just bought. I gotta' head back to the Space Bridge and see if there's a pic confirming this is the same one.

(The Jizai Toys Cyclonus is still prettiest, though)

And the G1 Unicron toy would've had a moon that looked THAT MUCH like Dead End?!?!?!? Was this already widely known? Or at least to the Armada design team? No, wait, there was a moon in Floro Dery's sketches, so 'ol Bug and this thing could've both just been based on that, even without these pics.

I think we got the color scheme for a Botcon version of Classics Megatron.

If they do a Condor-Verlag covers themed set next year, it would indeed make perfect sense.

I love the G2 looking Megs. That Metroplex is epic as well. And even though it looks kinda shite, I really dig the concept of them integrating the combiner head into the bot instead of having it be a 'cap' that he wears in combined mode for Razorclaw/Predaking.

I wish they had some alt decos of Trypticon. It's such a sweet mold (though I prefer my Gigastorm to him, just because that horn looks totally badass and Predacons rule :P).

Am I the only one who want that derpy looking Unicron?

I doubt it. Judging by how many went apes**t over the BW NEO proto (which as I recall, looks strikingly similar to this, though I could be remembering it wrong), I'd say it's safe to say there's plenty who would be interested in it.

I honestly can't decide.

On one hand, it's hideous, nothing like his movie self, I look at it and all I can do is laugh. I can't imagine this as a being that consumes planets.

On the other hand, it's novel, weird, quirky, the sort of thing you want for your collection!

Megatron looks like he's wearing a blue satin shirt over an orange jumpsuit and hood.

That Cyclonus is amazing.

Thank god they scraped that Predaking transforming head design.....yikes, It's ridiculous.

Trypticon's head looks very much like a certain reptile we know back in Japan. No wonder Takara modified it. Also, Razorclaw's head sucks! Good thing they scrapped the Predaking head gimmick.

That Megatron (or should I say, Skittletron) is too conspicuous to have been scrapped for release. Seriously, I would have bought that just to own some version of that mold. :-(

I swear, I can never get over how hilariously huge Cyclonus's head was compared to his body.

Pretty neat how Unicron's moon and odd deco influenced the design of Armada Dead End (Unicron's Mini-Con that transformed into a moon, for those unfamiliar with Armada) and his deco in Energon, respectively.

Metroplex's face looks "bleh". >:oP

Interesting article.

The Cyclonus prototype looks somewhat better than the finished product. For one, he looks sleeker without the stickers, but also, he's got real fists and the landing gear doesn't run across his chest.

Looks like Ocatne also fell short of his prototype.

Metroplex's face mess is probably due to the reflection (his mirror chrome face). A lot of decals were omitted in the final version................a pity.

That makes sense, considering the orange barrel.

Metroplex looks really blinged out. I dare say it wasn't a prototype for Transformers, but for its originally intended Diaclone release.

The Spacebridge facebook page has updated with more unique and rare Transformers items. This time around they give us a look at a few chrome seekers. Obviously we have Starscream pictured with the Megatron accessory which came with the Transformers Collection Starscream in 2003. The is also a regular chrome seeker. A blue and black chrome Thundercracker and an orange and black chrome Sunstorm.

The Spacebridge wrote:Not a bootleg, fake or "lunchtime special" These toys were made as samples by Takara for Hasbro. They would then be offered as exclusives or prizes to retailers if they wanted to run a promotion. So if Wal*Mart wanted to run a Transformers competition these would be offered to them by Hasbro as a possible prize. Most likely not used as Japanese size missiles so "unsafe" in the United States. These are original Hasbro internal pictures.

As thoroughly as I've migrated to the Classics mold as the only physical representation of seekers I need EVERY conceivable variation of, these somehow look just as good to me now as they would have 10 years ago. Shiny-Storm would've been especially appropriate considering how Sunstorm was depicted by Dreamwave.

I guess there's no precedent for a name to assign to the all silver guy, right? Just "Silver Star" perhaps, if one works backwards from CHMS's chrome guys, but it'd be nice if the Space Bridge dug up an official name so that guy could have his own TFWiki page.

Hasbro, give us an actual sunstorm like the chrome figure, not a stand in like in funpub's Rainmaker set.
