Titanium Rodimus is your only real choice unless you're looking to pick up the upgrade kit. No clue how good the figure is in hand, but it certainly looks nice.

Classics deluxe Hot Rod is okay, but he doesn't feel sufficiently "Rodimus-y" on his own.

We so need a new voyager Rodimus Prime and Galvatron from Hasbro!

I think they could do a way better job than the Protector kit.

They've certainly proven both in the past and the present (with both the present and upcoming Thrilling 30 releases), that they can, they just haven't for whatever reason.

G1
Energon
Classics

Animated

I'm guessing variants are included, and of those we have plenty.

Yea the tits version isn't that good, sure it's one of the best toys from that line, but that's like saying G1 Soundwave is a good toy if you want articulation because it has the most amount of articulation of g1 toys.
Currently the best version out there is the original Classics Hasbro version, or the Henkei version with the FP Protector armor. That is until Hasbro has a new go at him for the 30th line.

I would vote for Classics Hot Rod, too. I did own the FP upgrade armor at a time. Although awesome but the upgrade armor didn't mean much to me (despite I really don't like Rodimus Prime), so I sold it. Still like him just being Hot Rod. Animated one looks pretty promising too although I didn't own him and never found him at store.

I'd say g with G1 and any Classics version of the guy.

And is Alternators/Kissplayer Hot Rodiwhatever still within these size limits?

My wife loves my 6" Titanium Hot Rodimus. The figure is nice, too. Is this sufficient?

I really do prefer the Classics version, but like the look of the Titanium version. Animated is a great toy, but the orange waist and red legs keep making me think of the original costume for Robin - briefs with legs showing and booties. It's kind of odd.

"Worst joke ever" would not come close to that, so don't even.

I had my wife estimate the size of BT Sunstreaker, who should be similar in size to Alternator Rodimus, and she said he's about 6 inches, give or take. So technically he counts.

Lets see, if we limit to characters actually named Rodimus and disregard Hot Rods, or red and flamy sports cars in general, yes we are limited to 5.

In any case I think the best one in the 6 to 8 inch size scale would have to be Classics.

After That I really like Animated, specially the Sons of Cybertron Crystal version which I'm trying to track down.

Then I would say we have to say 2000 R.I.D Super Sideburn / Car Robots Super Speedbreaker

Then Cybetron Excellion. ( Red flamey repaint of Hot Shot)

Then Titanium, he's one of the best of the titanium line, but he's not really all there. Gaping hole in his torso, and rubbery gun deduct points. Still he' a decent representation of the Rodimus character.

Energon Rodimus rounds out the list.

Don't have the Alternators version so can't really say.

Actually, the Alternators were about the same size as the Voyagers of the time, putting them at about 7 - 8 inches tall... still within the requested size range, though.

If you don't have to have Rodimus Prime then Classics Hot Rod is the way to go. Great toy, excellent robot mode, beautiful car mode and he really looks and feels like Hot Rod. Like the previous comments have been saying: is there a spot on Rodimus Prime - no. Is there a spot on Hot Rod - yes, classics Hot Rod.

I'm a big fan of G1 Hot Rod. I like the G1 Rodimus Prime in alt mode. Bot mode is so terrible bad that it's almost awesome as well.

Classics is a gooder to! Those three in the criteria your looking for are the best. IMO

I know it's not in the 6-8 inch class but i suggest you think about the MP version. I keep mine in bot mode and i think it's pretty damn sweet. It does the best in giving you the most articulated and cartoon accurate Hot Rod/Rodimus....whatever....figure out there.
