Before the movie I would pass the by the movie toys.....just had no interest in spending the money. I saw the movie today and i absolutely loved it. I already had jazz bumblebee and barricade but after seeing the movie I want them all. That being said, are the leader figures worth the money? and what figures are tight and which are lame? I am infatuated with michael bay right now.....and i hated his movies. Peace, and thanks. what a bomb ass movie....so good....

In my opinion, what you need:
Deluxe Brawl
Deluxe Wreckage
Voyager Autobot Ratchet
Voyager Ironhide
Voyager Starscream
And some not popular choice that I like too:
Deluxe Bonecrusher
Voyager Blackout
In fact, Bumblebee '74 is the worst of the bunch so far, and I'm not a big fan of either leader class figure. Scorponok has a great scorpion mode, but worthless robot mode. Swindle is okay as one eye/monocled bots go.
You should also check out the REAL GEAR ITEMS, and the ROBOT HEROES. They are really awesome too!

Don't forget Leader Prime. He is practically a masterpiece figure.

Get these :
Best Voyager (for me)
Ratchet
Blackout
Best Deluxe (for me)
2008 Bumblebee
Brawl
Barricade
Others cool stuff (for me)
Unleashed 2008 Bumblebee
Scout Arcee
There you go a nice Starter collection...
And if you really want to spend the money...
Leader Class Optimus Prime or Ultimate Bumblebee...

Keep it simple. Just get all of the movie characters:
Deluxe:
Barricade
Bonecrusher
Brawl
2008 Bumblebee
Jazz
Wreckage (OK, not a movie character, but worth getting anyway)
Voyager:
Ironhide
Ratchet
Starscream
Blackout
Optimus Prime (Robovision, or regular)
Megatron
Leader:
Optimus Prime
I was looking at the Leader Megatron today at Target. He looks nice, but his stupid alt mode keeps me from spending $40 on him. Voyager Megatron's alt mode is also dumb, but spendinding $20 isn't as bad as spending $40 on one. If you have cash to burn though, sure, the leader Megatron is nice...as long as he stays in robot form. Which is why he screams; he's p*ssed of getting cheated of a cool alt mode. I would be screaming too if I were in his shoes.

see i liked the toys more than the movie and they warmed me up to seeing it.
The leader class ones are the only ones i'm not crazy about, seem too clunky compared to the voyagers.

meh, most of the movie toys don't really impress me, they kind of look cheaply made.
But I do like Jazz and Blackout and plan on getting them.
and I got Booster just because he's like a classics lazerbeak

Blackout
Starscream
Ratchet
Ironhide
Jazz
Barricade
Swindle
Brawl/Devastator
Bumblebee '74

Actually, Wreckage was going to be a movie character. I believe it was said at BotCon, they showed a mockup (like they did with the rest of the TFs in the movie) but he was canceled from the lineup.

I recommend Leader Prime, Voyager Ironhide, Protoform Prime, the Scout figures, and maybe Blackout if you like the Decepticons. Definitly Wreckage, Brawl, and Barricade. Stay away from Megatron and I'm not a big fan of Ratchet either.

just wondering, is the deluxe '08 Camaro BB rarer than the '74 BB?
I just did a search on ebay and there were only a few '08s which were way over priced and loads of the '74
I have the '74 deluxe and i think its much better than the deluxe Jazz i have, and i saw the pics of the '08 on anohter thread here and it looks even better than the '74

Leader Prime is actually pretty cool, the Transformation is fairly elaborate and the figure looks decent in both modes. Especailly after you yank the cannon off his arm so a trailer can be hooked up to his semi.
