Currently on Ebay I am seeing this guy sell for $270.
Do you think I should buy one now at this price? or is that price inflated because of so many people trying to snatch it up AND I should try again later?
basically: Buy now at $270
or
Hope for $240 ish later?
thanks!

If you're willing to pay $240, double retail price, I don't see why you wouldn't pay $270. The only reason to wait would be if you wanted to find one at retail for $120.

Ill never have a chance to see retail, I live in the Canadian Arctic in a fly in only community.... haha
Even if I could say 30 or 40 bucks from the current ebay prices that would be great. However Im not sure what the prices will be like in a month or so...

You could purchase the Takara release of Soundwave and both cassette packs for what that eBayer has the Hasbro pack offered at. My suggestion is to just wait it out a few weeks, keep checking back with ToysRUs.com (you can even set an alert on the web to tell you when that figure is back in stock), or wait for lower prices.
You're probably only seeing the EXTREMELY inflated price now because hardly anyone has their hands on this release. I can see paying maybe $150 - $175 as norm on eBay in the near future. Not that *I* would pay that amount, mind you.
Hang tight, just be diligent in checking out other pricing.

I have to agree with necr0blivion. Because MP Soundwave JUST hit the US market the inflation is at it's max. People are panicking, again, over TRU's way of handling it and most people seem to be reporting that their store aren't going to get stock until mid to late August.
Once Soundwave is in stores in full force the prices will drop because there will be more and more scalpers competing with one another.
If you HAVE to have it right this instant, spend the $270+. If you can hold tight for a month, you'll probably find you'll be spending less.
If you are willing to spend the $270-ish though, you should consider the Takara version (not sure what the differences are, but that would be easy enough to discover through youtube and google searches... or simply by asking here on the boards). The Takara version, with the added purchases of all his minions, is $280 on BBTS (before shipping) right now (if you snag the second wave MP pre-order). Of course there will be a wait time, but the site says the pre-order is due in September.

If money is a concern, wait until you can get it for $120.
If money is not a concern, get it now.
If you can afford $240, but not $270, then you probably shouldn't even be spending $240.

True that. Money isn't an issue, just my perceived value of the item. For most things I have an imaginary value set that I wont go over. So I guess its 240 or under

I feel your pain bro. This is due to the pseudo investor collectors! They're the reason why the fig is so hard to find. That and Hasbro's distribution system.
I remember back then when MP-01 was sooooooooooooooooooooooo hard to find.

I'd already given up on finding him at TRU, so I went ahead and ordered Takara's MP Soundwave with all of the cassettes for the same price. Now I don't have to stress about hunting for this guy at TRU, missing out (like I did MP Optimus and MP Rodimus), and having to pay jacked up prices in the end anyway. Also, now I don't have to settle for those damn yellow eyes. Such a small thing but, man, that'd bug me. If you're willing to pay around $260, go ahead and get the Takara SW.
