Target Predacons Rising Abominus

Got him yesterday. Target had other Predacons Rising figures, but this is the only one I wanted.

I love the translucent plastic. I have these color-changing LED lights from IKEA on the back of my TV, and when I put Abominus on top of one of the speakers next to the TV, the glow of the LEDs makes him look really cool.

As a gestalt, it's decent. The arms connect nice and tight, but the legs fall off pretty easily, particularly Blight. As with most combiners, you have to fiddle around with him to get him balanced, and then you have to step back and try not to breathe on it.

I like how the weapons combine to form a big double-bladed axe, but it seems like the only way Abominus can hold the axe is from the very end of the handle; he can't seem to grip it anywhere in the middle.

So overall, it's what you'd probably expect: the individual figures are cool with their new translucent colors, and the gestalt is decent but flawed.

For $25, it's worth it.

I agree, $25 bucks is a steal for him.
Hopefully we see more of this in a deluxe figure range soon if this does well.

He can hold his weapon in the middle. I'll put some pics up later. It wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be to make it work either.

But yup, this ones worth it in my book.

I got him recently and I really do like him, still waiting for the regular releases of Windrazor, Rippersnapper, and Blight to show up. The weapon is cool, though I like to think of it more as a hammer than an axe.

We'll call it a Hamaxe and everybody's happy. Heck, it's even purple, so maybe we'll call it a Meteor Hamaxe for kicks. ;) (energon cookies for anyone who gets it)

I'm not convinced about this gift set. IMO the translucent plastic makes him look a little anaemic, the regular figures look a bit more cohesive when combined. Shame his not in the movie.

I just found mine yesterday, and I agree that he's pretty awesome (mine even holds together pretty well), but he has one serious problem. The pins that hold Twinstrike's leg armor on are pressed too far in, so he can't transform. I busted one of the armor pieces off of my first Twinstrike because of the same problem, so I need to figure out how to fix that. Does anyone know a good way to move those pins? They're pretty stuck, so I don't want to break it while trying to fix it. I realize this is maybe not the right place for this question, so if somebody could point me in the right direction that would be great.

I didn't have this problem with my figure, but perhaps gently prying the pieces out with a small flat head screwdriver might help? I'd start by working the screwdriver from the area closest to the pin and outwards. Maybe cover the bit with a small piece of cloth, if possible, in an attempt to prevent scratching (that's if you care about that).

I just found the set at Target today in my area. At first I wasn't sure I'd get it, based on some of the reviews I saw. But I did get it and got it out of the box, and I do like it. I broke up the combiner into its individual figures, and I think they're all nicely done. The only thing I do differently in combined mode is I drop the back panel down on the torso/Hun-Grr to make Abominus less squat and a little taller.

The only issue I have with this figure is that the holes bored into the tops of the hammers are too wide. Nothing can peg into them and hold. I imagine I could fix it with a conservative amount of epoxy, or even a small bit of Scotch tape, but I'll fool around with it a bit more.

For now, I'm happy displaying the figure with a double-bladed hatchet (one hammer with a crossbow attached to each side), and a long laser rifle (the laser cannon plugged into the handle of the hammer, with the back of the hammer being held in the figure's claw).

This is probably the only Transformers Prime figure I'll get. I'm not very interested in that continuity, but I felt that the resemblance to the G1 Terrorcons was enough to warrant a purchase :)

That's what I tried on the first one and it didn't work out very well. I have a third one that works fine, so I think I'll just leave the PR one alone. Thanks for the help, though.

terraria?, never played it but read about it, watched a few videos.

off topic but, if you've played what do you think about it.

on topic, really like this set. Transparent plastic is nice.

As I play with the set more, I notice that the C-clip that attaches Blot to Hun-Gurr for Abominus's leg mode is very loose. Perhaps I can find a way to close it up more to make it fit tighter, or add a thin spacer to it. I remember reading a couple reviews that noted this problem, so I think it might be pretty common.

mine is pretty loose as well, I just keep them combined and on the shelf, I may keep the regular retail versions separated to mess with.

Blot = Blight? Am I getting the names wrong?

I think this belongs in the Toy review forum :D

The figures awesome. For what they did with this guy was just amazing, and for a cyberverse gestalt, you gotta give them credit.

That's right.

Hun-gurrr
Rippersnapper
Blot -> Blight
Cutthroat -> Windrazor
Sinnertwin -> Twinstrike

Sinnertwin sounds like a cooler name than Twinstrike. I can understand the name change for Cutthroat though, though kids are going to learn sooner or later if they're into bandits and pirates (or the old Looney Toons, for that matter).

I found if you put Blot/Blight's head in its robot mode position and cross his hands in front it holds together pretty well.

Also my TwinStrike/SwinnerTwinner's head was missing, and I was wondering if his retail release's head is identical? And a viable replacement for the giftset release?

Sorry took so long. New computer. You've probably figured it out even by now. I have mine holding it just below the second hammer. (pics below)
