Hey everyone,

I've started yearning for my childhood and have been rummaging through my old toys and wanted to see what you guys might estimate some of the fair market value for some of these items are. I've put my estimates based on eBay prices but wanted to get the opinion of experts.

I know most of these are in pretty poor condition since I actually played with all of these as a kid. So I imagine many are worth next to nothing, but who knows! These are all originals not reissues as far as I can tell.

Fortress Maximus (Guessing $100-$200?) - missing basically every single piece possible aside from the head. Although the head doesn't have a his headmaster. No yellowing but I haven't cleaned it and most of the stickers are missing which doesn't seem to be an issue since there are tons of reissue stickers available, I think?

Image

Pretenders

Bumblebee ($25?) - Shell and inner Bumblebee. No other accessories found

Longtooth with inner robot ($20?) - Inner robot has no hood or red piece. No other accessories currently found

Image

Submaurader ($20?) - Shell only

Waverider ($10?) - Shell only

Image

Bludgeon ($20?) - Shell only

Octopunch ($10?) - Shell only

Image

Doubleheader ($10?) - Shell only

Grimlock ($10?) - Inner Grimlock only. No tail.

Image

Predacons

Headstrong ($10?) - loose no accessories damaged horn

Rampage ($10?) - loose no accessories

Tantrum ($10?) - loose no accessories

Predaking head/helmet ($10?)

Image

Seacons

Snaptrap ($10?) - Missing rear shell/shield

Tentakill ($10?) - Loose

Image

Other

Wreck-gar ($5?) - Loose

Purple space ship. I think a Decepticon? Right leg missing too.

Image

Tank Quake ($5?) - No barrel or accessories

Image

Action Masters

Grimlock ($10?) - While doing research, I saw that he comes with some kind of gun and I'm 99% sure I saw that somewhere today.

Prowl ($5?)

Starscream

Image

Small combiners of some sort. Only torso and both arms.

Image

Random small vehicles

Image

Random parts that look like two Optimus Prime trailers of some sort

Image

Image

Non-TF

1997 Trendsetters Voltron Die Cast with Gold weapons ($100ish?) - Complete with very little play/wear. I think only the Black Lion has wear on his legs where the legs join.

Image

Thanks in advance for any help you all can provide. If any are worthwhile I'll create a WTB/WTT thread after I get enough info on these guys.

I'd value this higher than $100 - $200, although the fact that FM has recently been rereleased by Takara has probably hurt the price of a vintage one quite a bit. Being incomplete hurts the value, but lack of yellowing is a definite plus. I'm sure there are still quite a few people who prefer the quality of the vintage FM over the slighty lesser quality of the new Encore FM.
Yoah, Reprolabels does have a complete replacement set of stickers for FM, but they do not come cheap!
I'd actually say $200 - $300 (more with every accessorie you manage to find / replace: especially the Headmaster Spike, considering the rerelease is assembled wrong).

Pretenders

Bumblebee ($25?) - Shell and inner Bumblebee. No other accessories found

Longtooth with inner robot ($20?) - Inner robot has no hood or red piece. No other accessories currently found

Image

Those prices are a little on the high side for Pretender Bumblebee, lacking accessories. That's still a VERY common toy. I'd say $10 - $15 max. Longtooth: I'd say again your prices are on the high side. Complete and undamaged Loongtooth is pretty hard too find; however, incomplete Longtooth's aren't. Again, the accessories create the value (and this goes for all your incomplete Transformers). Again, I'd say $10 - $15 max.

Submaurader ($20?) - Shell only

Waverider ($10?) - Shell only

Image

I'd say you'll be lucky to get more than $10 for each of these. Again, very common toys to find without accessories (and even WITH accessories, large Pretenders aren't worth that much).

Bludgeon ($20?) - Shell only

Octopunch ($10?) - Shell only

Image

Sounding like a broken record here, but it's a real shame these are incomplete. Bludgean is a popular and sough after character, but he really needs to be more than just the shell. I'd say your pricing is about right, though.

Doubleheader ($10?) - Shell only

Grimlock ($10?) - Inner Grimlock only. No tail.

Image

Same again. You'd probably be hard pressed to get more than $5 for Grimlock's inner bot. Again, it's probably going to be hard to find buyers for these.

Predacons

Headstrong ($10?) - loose no accessories damaged horn

Rampage ($10?) - loose no accessories

Tantrum ($10?) - loose no accessories

Predaking head/helmet ($10?)

Image

If Rampage and Tantrum are in good shape, you might actually be able to get a little more for those two. Headstrong and Predaking's helmet, your are probably about right. Still, the Predacon's value has been hit hard by repeated and recent rereleases.

Seacons

Snaptrap ($10?) - Missing rear shell/shield

Tentakill ($10?) - Loose

Image

Seacons too have been rereleased, however, several colors were changed. Snaptrap, $10 sounds about right. Tentakill... I'd say $5.

Other

Wreck-gar ($5?) - Loose

Purple space ship. I think a Decepticon? Right leg missing too.

Image

Wreckgar has the 'benefit' of never having had a rerelease. Still, finding an incomplete one is easy, so... Perhaps $5 - $10.
The purple space ship is Decepticon Misfire. Being broken, I'd say he's worth about $5 for parts.

Image

Quake, Pretender inner robot Starscream and Actionmasters Grimlock and AM Prowl are all worth in the region of $2 - $5.
The small combiners are Pretender Monsters inner robots. I'm seeing Slog and Bristleback, which are typically broken due to the use of he brittle gold plastic. If yours are still whole and unbroken, they're worth $30-$40 each (and you'd be wise not to ever transform them!). If they are broken... Well, then they're worth $0 - $5. I'm also seeing Wildfly: he might still be worth $10 - $15.

Random small vehicles

Image

Random parts that look like two Optimus Prime trailers of some sort

Image

Image

Top one is Actionmaster Optimus Prime's incomplete and crappy transport. Coincidently, I got one of these too in a box of TF's I once bought, and I haven't ever been able to offload it. I'll be honest, that's a complete write-off: worth about $5, but I doubt anyone's looking for one in this condition. Sorry. Bottom trailer is (Autobot Micromaster) Overload's trailer. Worth $3 at most.

Non-TF

1997 Trendsetters Voltron Die Cast with Gold weapons ($100ish?) - Complete with very little play/wear. I think only the Black Lion has wear on his legs where the legs join.

Image

OK... Well... The best thing by far you have here is Fortress Maximus. Most of what you have really suffers from being incomplete. You'll find that the accessories are the most expensive to replace, because kids used to lose them or break them. You have here the largest and unbreakable parts which remain, and therefor are also the most common. I''l be honest: most of these are bottom of the toy barrel material: nice to give to small kids to muck around with, and perhaps custom parts fodder, but apart from Fortress Maximus, these are worthless to collectors.

alldarker,

I REALLY appreciate your time in responding. You are a gentleman and a scholar! I was expecting everything to be next to worthless anyway since I know everything is incomplete. I'm sure I could probably complete some of these if I dug around my parents house for days but most of it probably wouldn't be worth the effort.

I'll probably just sell it as a random parts lot for super cheap and see if I get lucky on eBay or preferably here.

I really want to see if I can find more to the Fortress Maximus though. I didn't think he'd be worth more than $200 based on how incomplete he was but I guess it's also hard to tell with just one picture. I'll take some more when I actually make a thread.

You're right about the blue pretenders monster. His golden legs are broken but the other looks to be whole. I did see some of the shell now that I am doing research on them. I didn't know what toys they were so I just left them. I guess I'll see which ones I can find and add them. I clearly remember seeing the vulture looking one.

Thanks again. I'll be sure to repay you if you end up being interested in anything I want to sell in the future.

@alldarker: Have you ever considered working for Big Bad Toy Store's vintage department? The prices they charge for loose, incomplete, damaged figures is ridiculous! I think they could really use your expertise.

@Paik4Life: Goodluck searching for those missing pieces. I'm sure you'll find someone that will give those guys a good home :D

I say, put your Fortmax on Ebay with a 200$ starting bid. Put LOTS of pictures there. You'll be sure to make at least 150$ once Ebay munched it's fees. With any luck, you could sell it for 300$ or more. Be sure to open the lising at least for both USA and Canada. Try to calculate the precise shipping cost for the US and Canada by packing it in a custom box with all the padding.

As for the rest, just make your sale thread and sell them for cheaper than the prices you originally ask. That way, you'll be sure to sell them.

Good luck!
