I'd say it is a figure that has withstood the test of time. He's as impressive amongst modern toys as he was in 1984.

I found out that the gun of my Soundwave couldn't shoot the missile,,, I might need to return it

^ It's made to be that way for US releases. To have a firing missile, Hasbro would have had to lenghten the missile, similar to what they did for the Seeker jets.

Unless this bothers you a lot, I wouldn't return it. The only way to get a brand-new Soundwave with firing missiles is to order the TakaraTomy version.

Don't return them. The missles don't shoot out. Also, how do you accidently buy something? :-?

not at this point.. you should wait and just order a "encore" version, which releases sometime at the end of this month. go to bigbadtoystore.com or other online toy stores for more information on the "encore" line.
other than that, the classics release is like finding a needle in the haystack since the beginning.

so I don't need to return it

If you want firing missiles, you may be able to put a spring in yourself. The mold may or may not be different. I haven't looked at the soundwave gun yet. I know the optimus reissue had a block added so you couldn't make the roller fire out. Incidentally, Knock offs are a great source of springs.

So are most of the reissues having the same problem? (Without springs)

Many of the Hasbro reissues do not have springs in their launchers. Some, however, do have working launchers, but their missiles have been lengthened. The ones I know of with firing missiles are Starscream, Thundercracker, Skywarp, Ramjet, Jazz, and Stepper. There could be more but I don't onw a lot of them.

If you want guaranteed firing missiles, look for Takara versions.

Where can I find the Takara versions? On e-bay?

eBay is one option, but sometimes they're available at online stores or collectible stores if you keep an eye out.

There is the Encore series coming out soon, they'll be releasing Prime (Convoy), Megatron, Soundwave and Starscream, if you want them for a reasonable price, order them soon before they sell out and get inflated on eBay.

So is this the series that you are talking about??

Yep, that's the one. It's your best bet for getting those figures at affordable prices, but you'll have to act soon before they skyrocket like every other release.

Yup, but since you already have the TRU version, you've got Ravage too. 8)

I believe the Encore version comes with Buzzsaw, rather than Laserbeak - a minor difference, but still.

Today, I travel all the way from Montreal, Quebec, where Soundwave is unavailable, to Ottawa, Ontario, in the hopes of picking him up. Wish me luck! :D

The original G1 Soundwave came with Buzzsaw, but Encore comes with Laserbeak.

Encore also comes with a single door, so he doesn't have a swelled chest.

If Encore is Takara (which it says on the box) does that mean Encore Soundwave will have firing missiles? I never heard once about G1 SW having firing missiles.
