Geewunners: Is there figure designs in other lines you prefer over G1?

As a die hard Gewunner my self I'm notorious for wanting my figures to be as G1 as possible. This is a major reason I collect Masterpiece figures.

However, lately I find myself straying from that line. The main reason for this is due to the fact that some figures make more sense to me conceptually than G1.

For instance, Let's look at the Generations Springer. The design just communicates his heroic behavior so much better than his G1 cartoon model. Then there's Blurr. I always thought The G1 animation model seemed too blocky and would cause too much wind resistance when trying to move in bot mode. Animated Blurr looks less likely to fly apart at high speeds.

Animated swoop is another Character that makes more sense than his G1 design as well.

While I'm all about my blocky G1 characters. There just seems to be some characters coming out in other lines within the last few years that just make more sense.

Anybody else feel this way?

Are you saying I should take my fangoggles off? Damn you! :P

I guess a lot of moviedesigns make more sense then G1 designs to me. ROTF, as a toyline, had some seriously good toys and realistic vehiclemodes. Sure, the robots are a farcry from G1 designs, but the aim was realism and that was achieved. In that sense, Bayformers beat G1.

Some Generations toys are also better then G1. Some represent the cartoon character closer and they have superior articulation. Sideswipe, Sunstreaker and the Prowlmold are just great toys.

Alternity(?)

But on your opinion about the awesome Springer mold. He looks to me like an updated buff humanoid instead of the bulky buff look of the original. Except he's a 4 wheeled armored car instead of 3.

Animated Blurr too shares the same if not "stylized" design of the G1 robot mode. Vehicle wise, the original was a surface effect vehicle as opposed to the wheeled version. Sure the latter is kinda realistic but the former evoked a futuristic aesthetic.

In RHA's case, the only Bayformer fig that really caught my fancy was Breacher. Prime was okay too.

Henkei too had a lot of hits too.
