so which of these two companies do you think, hasbro or takara produce the best quality toys in years. me i personally think takara, but my wallet have not enough credits to buy a figure by takara. in my opinion, hasbro is just a worst imitation of takara toys in terms of quality and paint jobs....PERIOD

I would agree with you, then I remember the Classics Voyager Jetfire on my shelf...and the Voyager Starscream from the new movie...the Leader Prime from the movie, then most of the Classics line...then most of the 6' Titaniums...yeah Hasbro just sucks it.
But I reluctlantly agree...Takara does have slightly better quality.
But Hasbro produces some real gems as well.

I think Takaras Superlink* figures seems nice in color.
I once brought Inferno and Red Alert**. there color scheme was nice, if im right Inferno's blue parts is more light-blue than the Hasbro version. They allso comes in cool looking boxes. But well my Inferno's neck is loose, but that could be only my figure not ALL Takara Inferno's.
But well i dont have 2 of the same figure in each kind, Hasbro and Takara, so i cant really compare, but i think that Takara's colors looks better, and The boxes rock!
But its up to you i quess, im not a specialist when it comes to this point
Superlink = Energon saga / Red Alert = Japanesse Energon Prowl.

Hasbro and Takara, it's kind of a trade off, really... looking back at Energon/Superlink, for example... Energon Galvatron whupped the crap out of Superlink Galvatron G (though Takara's was more show accurate, Hasbro went for a considerably more Galvatron look) meanwhile Superlink Wheeljack totally beats out Energon Downshift...
It's not a matter of sticking with one company or the other, because there's so much potential in each line. Sometimes you'll find Hasbro with better paintjobs, others with Takara, then there's company exclusives like Hasbro's Classics or Takara's Masterpiece line (I know Hasbro's releasing Starscream, and in better colours, and that Prime was released here as well... but the rest of the line is Takara only).. so pick n' choose, but I'm sick of people siding with one company on all things, and bashing the other, because really nobody is perfect, Takara screws up, Hasbro screws up, but sometimes where one drops the ball the other is there to pick it up, dust it off, and get it back in the game.
That's my two cents on the issue, I buy from Hasbro and I buy from Takara, simple as that.

Hasbro doesn't release as many g1 reissues as Takara. Takara also released Mp Megatron which Hasbro won't do. But Takara's Mp Megatron is a dissapointment to me cause the pegs are cheap and the figure itself is fragile. It can't even hold the fusion cannon well without tilting sideways. But both have to do something about the plastic on the Transformers cause it's cheap. Many of the movie toys are also proof of that. Man they are cheap.

I buy from both lines. For Alts, I went with Hasbro because they were cheaper even though the Binaltech had diecast. But I heavily favor the Takara stuff simply because they release a lot of stuff that interest me, notably the Masterpiece figures and also G1 reissues.

What is it with this absolutist crap every time this topic comes up?
You say you don't have the funding to buy Takara product, so, um, the question remains; How can you be so sure?
You know it's not even that I have a problem with your opinion/stance on the matter. (The truth is somewhere in between on what is actually a better product line)
There are some good responses above my post here. There is a whole lot to know about this hobby and it's easier gathering good information if you don't go about with authority where you may not have the info to do so.

As a collector, who is more interested in how it looks, I generally prefere Takara, becuase their paint jobes are generally better. Im not conviced this will remain the case cuase Tomy dont seem to fussed about quality...

So what your saying is I should bounce back and forth and get either Hasbro or Takara Transformers? How do you know which one is better? I'm not an experienced collector, until recently I was only collecting Marvel Legends. I got tired of them. Plus the movie toys just said buy me!! I couldn't resist, and now I'm hooked.

Well, for convenience's sake I'm sticking with Hasbro, but only because I'm in Australia. You know, I'm also collecting the movie toys but as long as the paint jobs are'nt atrocious I can live with them.

Just ask. Usually the answer is pretty easy.

Takara Optimus Prime Leader class Class Galaxy version or Hasbro Optimus Prime Leader class Cybertron version? Is one bigger then the other?

In general, Takara puts out the better product.
Typically, a side by side comparison of the same figure will quickly prove such. tfkenkon is a great place to start witht hose comparisons.
None of that is to say Hasbro is incapable of producing something better. Example? The US version of Masterpiece Starscream!

Galaxy Force's Galaxy Convoy has many more paint applications than Cybertron Prime which add to the overall look of the figure. Neither of them are bigger than the other as it's the same mould, but in this case, Galaxy Force definitely has the edge over Cybertron.

Ok so where do I buy Galaxy force figures from?
If you can't already tell I'm a huge Beast Wars fan, where do I go to get reissues, or originals. I saw that Toys r Us has some Hasbro reissues online, but Should I go with Takara or Hasbro on those?

The easiest way to decide is to look up galleries on each, Seibs has some really great ones on this very site which show different versions of a lot of figures, the Beast Wars reissues, for example. Look 'em up and decide which one looks better to you. Hope this helps.

I used to think Takara was better.
But the movie toys produced by Hasbro have blown me away.
Hasbro wins my opinion.

hey bumbled, do u think hasbro will likely to reissue its 20th anniversary prime in 3 or more years? cuz i'm waiting to rebuy prime in the correct color scheme, and the correct colored gun as well. i think i'm too early and too broke to buy another prime at this unfortunate time. cuz takara's prime is way too expensive, so as the hasbro's original issue.

G1 wise, It's Takara's versions that truly shine. Take for example Silverbolt, Ultra Magnus, Metroplex....
They had extra spring mounted mechanisms and rubber tires as opposed to the US versions.
As for the latest versions, re-issues specially had extra chrome and spring mechanisms as opposed to the US versions.
The Japaneses RID versions had better(?) plastic sheen, but then again some versions in Galaxy had to be improved over the Japanese versions (Master Megatron's nose and horns and Godbomber)

No way man, Takara isn't as good as it was.
And to answer Altertron's question. Go to paint or if you have photoshop, and what you do is you just go to image size and make it bigger.

Normally, I don't mind either company. But when it came to Galaxy Force, I liked those colors/paint scheme much more.
Especially a show accurate Starscream.
I never figured out why Hasbro released a supreme size Starscream and made a reasonably sized version an store exclusive.

Fine leave Sonokong completely out of the picture.
Hasbro vs Takara. Early G1, no difference. Later G1, sure, Takara had em beat. The last few years, excepting GF I'd say they were mostly on par. In some cases, there were smal diffeences here or there that made individual figures better on either side. But overall, I'd say Hasbro has improved and Takara has declined to the point that they are almost meeting ion the middle.
Also, remember that Hasbro has US toy safety laws to comply with, for which you realy can't fault them.
Edit: Ok, in all fairness, I must confess, most of my collection is Takara, however, that is mostly because I like the Japanese boxes and who can't love RID Prime yelling at you in Japanese?

Thanks "Samsonator" and "Bonger", I am going to buy the reissues from Takara for the Beast Wars, they are better paint wise and materials wise, and it looks like the boxes are cooler as well as come with a DVD!!! what a great buy!!
Not to fond of the Hasbro reissue, in which they shrunk Cheetor's head?
