Because he's sex on legs. Simple as that.

I like this Starscream design, too. Really like it, in fact. But the simplicity and size is bothersome to me. That's all.

Is that really beyond the pale?

Aside from Masterpiece, have we really had a complex Starscream?

The only ones I can think of is Energon Starscream and both the Leader and the Voyager Revenge of the Fallen Starscreams.

Nope. I'm greatly disappointed by this, Armada Starscream has a kickass design, simple but awesome. His original toy was pretty good, so when e heard of this I was hoping it would be better. As in have a bit more detail, and better articulation.

But instead we get this, it's even simpler than the original and it looks worse, actually ruining what I liked best about him, his shoulder design with the canons. I was hoping the weird back kibble would fold down like in the comics and let the canons flip up. And they kinda do, while at the same time ruining the whole shoulder assembly due to the vents folding back as well.

At least it seems to have better articulation. It's still bad though.

That's the appeal of this thing for me. It ain't a brick and has no obnoxiously-large backpack this time around. Finally. :D

Energon's complexity came from his arms. So really, he and movie Starscreams aside, he's always been a rather simple mold.

Yeah I can say I like the Hasbro Version better than takara's. Yes the paint job on Takara's better, but it dosen't look like skywarp, just a generic. The hasbro one, despite the dull gray plastic, it at least looks like skywarp.

Though my favorite Skywarp is still the original Universe one

I guess that depends on which version of Skywarp you're talking about. If it's G1 then yes, Hasbro's is more accurate, but if you're referring to the actual FoC game (which this toy is based on), then no, Takara's is more accurate/looks more like Skywarp:

The hasbro one is NOT supposed to be WFC/FOC Skywarp.

@xyl360: Only in regards to color layout. The fact that Takara's is missing any and all traces of the color BLACK (Skywarp's primary iconic color), except for on the head, makes it inaccurate in that regard.
Seriously, what was Takara thinking changing all of Skywarp's non-head black parts to gray?! :HEADHURTS:

They don't look black in the game, at least not to me. They have that gunmetal grayish metal color in WfC, which is why I believe it's more accurate (besides the fact that it just looks better overall to me).

It's the same reason I prefer Takara's Starscream even though the color they used for the "red" parts is more of a metallic magenta color simply because that's really what he looked like onscreen and they did a good job of matching it. I get the appeal of having them look more like their iconic G1 selves from the cartoons and such, but to me the FoC and WfC figures are on my shelf to represent the characters/figures/models from the games which is why I gave them their own shelf to begin with (and why I was glad that Planet X chose to change the coloration on their Genesis figure to more closely match the game rather than the G1 version of Omega Supreme).

Of course, if you're a collector who doesn't really play the games and you're just looking for a stand-in for the tetra jet version of Skywarp, then I can see why the Hasbro version would have more appeal, although I'd personally still prefer Takara's based simply on the more realistic look (but of course I have to pay the price for it too, which my wallet doesn't appreciate too much :P).

If I had known long ago that a Hasbro Skywarp was coming, I would've held off on the import. Takara's does have a nicer job but was more expensive and his shiny coat does look a little odd next to Screamer and Thundercracker.

While Scrapper seems like an obvious repaint for Scoop, I really hope they do someone else. The Constructicons need new molds. They should repaint Scoop into Armada Scavenger to fill out the Armada homages a little more.

That's why I'm getting Armada Starscream. So Universe Hot Shot has someone to play with.

I would really like to see a new Armada Megatron. That is a figure that definately could've used better articulation

Is the one with black the Hasbro one? If so, then I like the Hasbro one WAAAAAAY better. To me, it's not Skywarp if it's not black and purple.

Love these new Generations figures. I am gonna buy two Armada Starscreams as I have a great FOC/WFC custom in mind for it. Liking Scoop and his minifigures as well as the Minicon combiner. I read a comment that said they are in a faction called the Ammonites. That is a very strange term to call these as they were a group of people in the bible. They are mentioned to be closer to the deceptions so that is what I will call them. Love FOC Skywarp of course and I would have bought it regardless of the rest, but I am going to get them all for sure.

Yes, Hasbro Skywarp has black. Takara Skywarp has gunmetal.

@shockblast2, in the MTMTE comics, the crew of the Lost Light encountered a race composed solely of mini-con...ish combining robots called the Ammonites. The mini-cons appear to be part of the Ammonites, but that's just speculation for now.

No it isn't. As Sabrblade explained earlier, IDW has repurposed and adapted WFC and FOC designs for Cybertronian forms for the comics. As such, any WFC/FOC form is fair game for IDW G1, as is the case here . And since we're currently doing IDW stuff, this Skywarp is officially IDW G1 Skywarp (same with Thundercracker) Or in a list:

Starscream: Aligned (WFC/FOC)
Thundercracker: IDW G1
Skywarp (Hasbro): IDW G1
Skywarp (TakaraTomy): Aligned

Of course, that shouldn't stop you from repurposing them yourself.

No, IDW used the WFC/FOC seeker design for their comics, and this figure represents the Skywarp from those comics, LIKE THE ONE IT COMES WITH.

It's an IDW character based on a WFC design.

But Scoop looks nothing like Armada Scavenger. He'd be a very poor homage.

But I agree that it shouldn't be redone as Scrapper either, since Scrapper's been dead since the 2009-2011 ongoing.

LoL...no its not.

I don't need to explain why, as four users have done so already, but here's another example of Aligned/WFC/FOC models being used for G1 IDW designs for basis-of-statement:

Image

And, to more related example, here's the use of the design in IDW's Robots in Disguise:

Also, Skywarp & Thundercracker both come with comics from the IDW continuity from which they hail, as GuyIncognito briefed.

Plus, Skywarp's color scheme is quite different from the games by the looks of this toy.

Am I the troll here? Apologies, I didn't mean to be. I really didn't know about the IDW repurposing of these guys. I just thought they were alternate/more G1 decos being released by Hasbro as regular FoC figures continuing their releases from Optimus, Jazz and the rest.

He's not talking about you.

But yeah, the FOC portion of Generations is dead. These are IDW G1 toys. No FOC characters exist in the Generations Thrilling 30 line up.
