BigBadToyStore has listed their pre-order for the officially licensed Gigantic Action: Scorponok. According to BBTS this figure stands even taller than the recently reissued Fortress Maximus, comes with a removable visor, shield, and cannon. However, the figure does not transform. He will also set you back a cool $549.99.
Note: Image with Fortress Maximus is to show size comparison.
This is a non-transforming action figure, it is not a fully transforming Transformer.
Please Note: Due to unusually small wholesale discounts on this item, we are paying close to Japanese retail pricing, and the resulting retail price is higher than we would prefer. If we are able to locate a less expensive alternate supplier, we will reduce the retail pricing accordingly.
Product Number: TAK11790
Shipping Weight: 16.80 pounds

This is so lazy. Why didnt they take an extra year and make a transformable one ? I guess the people who buy busts and statues can have him.

For something that doesn't transform, he's got really weird proportions.

So they make it the size of Fortress Maximus, yet it doesn't transform AND they expect people to pay ludicrous prices for it?
NEXT!

Interesting, but all together pointless.
I would've paid that much for a 2 foot tall transforming Scorponok, but not this half-hearted attempt.

Oversized Actionmaster?

Correction, over sized and super expensive Actionmaster. Btw, Scorponok's name for years sound wonky.........Megazarak is, well, kind of acceptable but why not a new amalgamation of the original..........call him Scorporak?

G1 Scorp had such a ridiculously simple transformation that there is no excuse for this not to do the same. All you need do is have a double jointed knee and some buggy kibbly type legs and a tail on the back and VOILA...you have a transforming Scorponok.
This thing looks pretty sharp though. Not 500 dollar sharp mind you. pass.

The most interesting thing about this figure (aside from its size) is the fact that it uses the more toy-accurate Japanese cartoon model design for MegaZarak:

As opposed the American character model design used for Scorponok:

Never understood the need for Non Transforming transformers, such a contradiction in terms and at this price, I would be surprised if this guy didn't flop.

I'd be interested to hear from anyone who is buying Ultimetal Prime and not this Scorponok, or vice versa.
I imagine this Scorponok would appeal to the Ultimetal folks, but you never know.

I wouldn't pay that much even if it DID transform and had way better articulation than it seems to have.

Very expensive. And not a Transformer. No thanks, I will wait for Hasbro.

I would. But my wallet is happy it doesn't transform. It really took a beating this month.

This was a complete waste of resources. There's literally NO need for this thing to exist. If it transformed, possibly. If it was...oh screw it. There's no justifiable reason for this thing to exist.
I hope they cancel this before it's too late and they go in debt over stupidity.

In Japan, probably for a lot of fans with too much disposable income.

I mean, is that company ever going to recoup its investment ( the manufacturers I mean)?
