Generations Metroplex Question

Hey Guys! I recently obtained a Generations Metroplex (i took someone's oncall for it) and they ordered it off of Amazon. I got the package and the box itself is pretty damaged. Meaning the corners are all while and several large creases along the front and back of the box itself.

I am wondering if it would decrease the value if i just took Metroplex outta the box and pitched the box, as opposed to leaving it in the damaged box as is.

I'd like to display this guy in my living room, but this box is just fugly. Please advise and thank you for your time!

it's already worth less than you paid for it. better tell your kids they're not going to college off all those chromium holofoil comics you've got stashed away either.

do you want the toy? if not, I'm sure someone here will gladly sent you a nicer box in a straight swap.

I don't get the attitude? But i'm not collecting for some hope that someday they'll all be worth millions, but i'd prefer to keep the ones i do have, that are MIB, MIB. Just sayin.

Either way, i'm getting rid of the box. Its just trashed. Thanks anyways.

Dude, anything MIB that isn't a G1 just isn't worth the trouble to KEEP MIB.

Too true.

Btw to the OP, I get it about having a crunched box but what's important is the contents. Congratulations for getting one btw.

Fenrir, thank you! But now i'm curious... I have multiple boxed TFers from RID, to Armada, to the re-issued Optimus Prime, to an Alternators Smokescreen, and tons of Generations stuff. Is it better to unbox all these toys and display them that way or keep them boxed?

I have kept them all boxed for years, because i bought pretty much all of my collection form either Walmart or TRU. I just feel nervous about unboxing them.

Goddamit, dude, open all that **** up and PLAY WITH YOUR DAMN TRANSFORMERS! You're missing out a lot if you dont. Keeping things MISB is a pure stoopid waste. I bought some doubles that I keep MISB and I regret it deeply because they're barely worth the original price. Lately, I succeeded at selling a MISB DOTM Leader Sentinel Prime for an amazing 0% of profit. At least, some guy is glad to have obtained the TF he missed out at a reasonable price very quickly.

Also, I bought a couple of MPs. All open and played with, of course. I bought many Unicron Trilogy and Alternators toys BRAND NEW in the last 3 years I started collecting. All at reasonable prices. All open. All played with. All loved. Even the hardcore collector editions like Million Publishing Artfire and 2010 Protector Primus. Same with expensive 3rd party toys.

Toutching the toy, trnasforing it, smelling it, posing it, admiring it in all it's glory. Do you love TRANSFORMERS or CARDBOARD? Think about it. Here, have some pics of half of my collection, the most expensive parts. (Please ignore the dust cause imma lazy bum.)

See? I often transform ALL OF THEM. It's way more worth it than keeping them sealed.

...

HOWEVER.

I do keep some sealed for the exact purpose of keepeing them forever. All are either doubles I got for cheap in store or through Ebay. I want to keep one double (either straight double or a repaint, like the Thunderckrackers)because the toy is perfectly visible on the card and it show how the card is made with all the artworks for that specific line. Kinda like having a peice of history. I will never ever have a toy sealed that I dont already have open and played with.

In conclusion, you may keep some repaints sealed for some sort of legacy, but open and play with the rest. Even the most "rare" and expensive ones. Collect and play with Transformers. Not boxes.
