Beast Hunters Predacons

Me again, with my undecidedness. :D

I've recently been really getting into the Predacons from the Beast Hunters line, as you might have seen in every other thread ever on here. I currently have Grimwing, Predaking, Lazerback, with Skylynx and Ripclaw incoming.

I've been considering expanding the beastie shelf though, maybe including Thundertron in there too..

What are people's thoughts on the Abominus mini-beasts? And what about the various repaints of the other figures, like Vertebreak and Darksteel? Worth a shot?

Y'know, I was really excited for legends Abominus...right up until I had it in hand. It just..doesn't do it for me. I like the aesthetic, I love the mangled beast-arms, the proportions are "abominable" as per the name. Despite all that, I just got it in hand and didn't like it, I can't quite tell you why.

They're awesome individually though.

I like the Legend Terrorcons.

I also love the Preds. I've got all the Hasbro versions, I need to order the Takara Go! ones to complete it.

Hear hear. I have him and theyre pretty decent for their size. You do need to be careful with Twinstrike's leg covers and Rippersnapper, but other than that they're pretty fun. :)

Skystalker is pretty simple, but that's part of his charm. With Skylynx you can't go wrong. Can't comment on the rest, missed out on Grimwing and still trying to decide on Vertebreak. The rest we never got. I did get the 2-pack version of Voyager Predaking (with the grey heads) in Germany.

As I said before, I'm patiently waiting to see the Preds in discount stores. They're making me nostalgic for Beast Wars, but they're not quite as imaginative or interesting (what can I say, Sky Shadow's got me spoiled). I'm particularly drawn to Laserback, Ripclaw, and Grimwing; they seem like a nice trio, not too "samey" like Predaking and Skystalker are.

I absolutely adore the Terrorcons, though. So much so I want repaints of them, and I almost never want repaints. Blight especially, possibly the best Legends/Legion figure. Abominus is decent enough, feels like the combination was a late addition; much better as individuals than combined.
If you do get him, I recommend sliding down his back until Hun-Gurrr's tail peg plugs into his, er, waist. If you don't do that, he's all stumpy looking:

If you do stretch his torso out, he looks so much better:

Yeah, I wasn't actually thinking of the little critters as a combiner, but I do like the look of them individually. My brother has Twinstrike, and he's actually a pretty cool dude in hand!

Hm.

Voyager Predaking is actually quite the revelation, as I said in the photo thread. The engineering is really interesting, with a DotM Sentinel Prime vibe for the hind legs. The rubber doesn't bother me that much either, but he does need some touching up with paint (and I did, here).

JelZe, I could get you Vertebreak here in Italy, I'll over in Amsterdam this Thursday.
Shoot me a PM if you're interested. :D

JelZe: Lots of Vertebreaks on the shelves here as well if Va'al comes up empty handed.

I've got the Takara versions of the Voyager and Deluxe Predacons as well as all the domestic ones. Can take some pics if you need comparisons. Love the Takara ones the most, due to the heads/faces.

Lots of them here as well, what I meant was I can't decide which looks better: Lazerback or Vertebreak. I like Vertebreak's earthy colors, but then again, Lazerback doesn't look bad either.

Vertebrek looks cool, but I still want a Laserback. They both are needed to complete the full rainbow of Predacons.

I'd rather go by element, tho I'm hitting a bit of a snag:

Skystalker: Water/Ice
Grimwing: Wind/Lightning
Lazerback/Vertebreak: Earth (due to lack of wings)
Ripclaw: Fire? (only one left)

"The Lord and Master of Cyberbeasts; Predaking,
once ruled over the revived Cybertron,
but his powers were too terrible for Autobot & Decepticon,
thus; they united, and hunted the Tyrant,
Predaking was captured - overthrown,
then divided - sealed in to 7 Predacons,
7 untamable & uncontrollable pure animals, who were exiled...

"He who finds and tames the 7 Predacon lords,
He who unites them will revive the Predaking,
He who summons the Predaking - will rule Earth & Cybertron!"

The Predacons are awesome. I have every deluxe and voyager, including the Takara versions, that have been released so far. They're definitely worth it if you're into beastformers.

As for the smaller Cyberverse figures, it really is a mixed bag. They look decent enough in beast mode but they're so darn tiny, it's hard to put them up next to your larger Preds and see them as anything other than completely out of place.

Got the three Takara Deluxes today, so I'm just missing one now!

Tempted to get a second Ripclaw to repaint into Serket. She's not a Pred, but it's the only mold missing a second use in the US...

A couple of days ago I popped into Bart Smit in Amsterdam, and found these guys.

Image

I call them Theo, Beatrix and Arjan.

Then, today, I found an InterToys, just round the corner from the Bart Smit, and discovered Herman and Remco.

I give you... Amsterbominus! (Toch?)

I've got a shelf like this, just for my BH Predacons. It's a high shelf and I like to think of them as perching on it like gargoyles.

I also have BH Soundwave and BH Knockout up there with them. I used to have Abominus up there too, but with his smaller scale and translucent plastic, he looked out of place.

Yeah, that's what I'm doing too! :D

All my shelves are high, the lower ones have books and writing material on them. And a box of comics.

I gotta admit, I don't want to collect anything else but MPs, since the majority of the Prime toys aren't as accurate as I would like them to be.

But yea, the Predacons and a few other Prime figures are pretty tempting.

Any opinions on Ultimate Predaking? Is he good? Is he more show accurate than the Voyager?
Or does he suffer from his alt-mode gimmicks?

Asking, cos Predaking is one of my favorite characters and I found a pretty neat deal on the Ultimate but am still undecided.

I prefer the Voyager, at least from what I've seen from reviews and stuff.
The transformation seems a lot better, there's a little more posability, but you do lose a lot in size. A lot.

I'm not that bothered with show accuracy, as you can tell from the shelf. :P

I own him and I really like him. He´s solid and pretty much the closest thing to screen accurate. The wings are the biggest difference in robot mode. Still, he is simple and his beast mode is almost a brick, save for the wings. He´s also in scale with the rest of the Prime guys.

I´d recommend him, if you can get past the simplicity of the figure.
