Hi,

I'm just backin in business and would like to buy my first two transformers for years.

I saw that there were major différences between Takara and Hasbros versions of the figures.

Considering I'm willing to buy Grimlock and Soundwave (Voyager Class), which ones are the most impressive ?

Soundwave looks classier but I don't see major différences between the Grimlocks.

Try checking if Ryan has hi res pics of both. Personal anecdotes from my end......well the extra bling in paint makes the Tomy version more desirable.

If you can swing the import price then get the Takara Soundwave. I think the TT version kooks great. In terms of Grimlock, I'd choose the Hasbro version since in my opinion there are not import price worthy differences.

If you have any interest in FoC Bruticus, you might look into that Platinum Edition two-pack of him and Grimlock. The Grimlock in that set has a chrome gold torso and dino neck and Bruticus is basically the same as the SDCC release. I won't lie to you, FoC Bruticus isn't great, it's an acquired taste at best, but I like the combined mode pretty well and I don't regret the purchase (I've got the G2 version, because Skittlescus).

I'm not after that Bruticus at all ^^

Don't forget the cassettes minions as well. They are worth it and Soundwave is not complete without them.

Pictures don't do the Takara Grimlock justice. I've seen it side by side with the Hasbro ones (I have all three versions, Hasbro, Takara, and Platinum) and the Takara version is by FAR the best deco. The darker grey and better gold paint really make it stand out. Unless the price ends up being exorbitantly more, get the Takara one over the other versions of Grimlock
