Cybertron Excellion Review

Okay, this is my first Cybertron figure in DELUXE size. I finally got him today. Hasbro Toy Shop is slower than snot running up hill when it comes to shipping things. Anyway, despite that, I got him along with Armorhide.

When I opened up the shipping box, I was surprised to discover how big the Deluxe size is. He dwarfs Classics Rodimus/Hot Rod. I may just call him Rodimus Prime, hehe...but I won't. Anyway, the size is great.

Car mode, he looks pretty sweet. Very fast looking and futuristic. The Cyber Key gimmick is something I will never understand with these figures. Hardtop's simply flips his gun over, Armorhide's to reveal the 8 missiles he's packing behind his grille, and with Excellion, to flip out his wings. Meh. Despite that, he looks great in car mode.

Robot mode is, to me, where he truly shines. What a fantastic looking fellow he is!!! My only gripe would be his shoulders, he can not move them. His only articulation on his arms would be his elbows. Kind of a shame. Leg articulation is great. Everything else is great, just his arms are stiffer than, well, stiff.

All in all, I love this figure, and he has become an instant favorite in my collection.

Since I mentioned Armorhide, well, he is nice too. Not as nice as Excellion, but nice. He is simply too small for my tastes. I'd rather call him Pipes. That is somewhat contradictory since he has no pipes. Oh well.

As a figure, both in robot and alt mode, he is very nice. I do like him despite his small size. He makes a perfect match-up with Hardtop, which is who I have him against right now.

Yeah, pretty good review. He's a nice figure, one of my favorites from the line, and a good Hot Rod homage. If you have Cybertron Hot Shot, you can swap out the wings to make Excellion look a little more like Hot Rod.

What do you mean the shoulders don't move? He can lift his arms, but if you meant they don't rotate, that's correct. Unfortunate, but a fairly minor flaw.

Tempting...but finding a Hot Shot at a decent price is next to impossible it seems. At least on evilbay.

Ooops, my fault. I did mean the shoulders. I was mistaken. I was handling him too gently. Only now did I find that his shoulders to rotate up and down. They still don't rotate, but that's not a big deal to me. Now he is even cooler. :)

Hah, no worries. I've got several figures that can do things I had no idea about for the longest time.

Hmm, I didn't know Hot Shot was that desirable... I guess when a figure's fairly decent and it's sold out, the price skyrockets... Well, if you really want him, just keep a lookout, I'm sure a loose one will pop up in Carbombya or something. :) But if you only want him for the swap it's almost not even worth buying the figure for, it's just makes him a little bit cooler.

Thanks for the pic. He really does look better with the yellow wings.

Wow nice Hot Rod/Rodimus collection there kirbenvost. You are missing Tit Rodimus though. He's an exceptional Rodimus in my Opinion

As for Excellion, yeah, the Hot Shot mold is pretty good. i have the blue version. (Original Cyb Hotshot) I do like him. Specially since he's based off of a Chrysler MeFourTwelve.

Any way great buy on your Excellion Sportimus

You're welcome Sportimus Prime. :)

Thanks Overcracker! Yeah, I know, I've been trying to get Titanium Rodimus Prime but I didn't pick him up the only time I saw him in stores, I should've... It's only him and Alt Hot Rod and my collection will be complete!

Unless I decide to get Star Convoy & his little buddy...

As well you should.

(and KP Rodimus, and SDCC Rodimus, and Armada Hotshot Redeco, and, and, and  )

Being somewhat less than wealthy, I've decided to limit my collection to mainly North American releases, with a few exceptions (say if Japanese ones are readily available), and only 1 version of a figure (no re-releases, variants, etc) :P So I won't be getting KP Rodimus because I already decided I like SDCC more. And I'm not really one for Armada molds, whomever they may be.

So yeah, in my eyes, my Rodimus collection is nearly complete.

It's better this way.

Seriously, I can't afford to be importing Japanese DVD-Release exclusive repaints! :-(

Isn't Armada Rodimus a truck? Rodimus/Hot Rod are meant to be sports cars.

Heh, so far, I have Original Hot Rod (G1), Classics Hot Rod, and now Excellion who looks like Hot Rod. I hope when I get to SDCC I will be able to get a Alt Hot Rod/Rodimus before the damn ebay scalpers horde them all up.

Yeah, hopefully you can grab one. There is a limit, so the scalpers are at a disadvantage.

I think you must be referring to Energon Rodimus, there was no Armada version. Yes, he is a truck, but so was Rodimus Prime...well, a futuristic hot-rod winnebago, that's close enough! :P Good enough for me anyway, I think he looks cool, but I rarely put him in alt mode.
