Why no Masterpiece molds at Botcon?

Does anyone know, or have any theories?

I would think repainted or retooled Masterpiece molds would be very popular. G2 versions of Optimus Prime, Grimlock, or Starscream. Or that Actionmaster Thundercracker.

Is it that they would be too expensive?

Exactly. Regular retail molds used for conventions already fetch a price about 5 times higher, can you imagine the price if a Masterpiece mold was used?
You also need to take size and overall availability into account. FunPub has plenty of regular retail molds to choose from, allowing for creativity (relatively speaking), with Masterpiece not only are there only a handful of molds, the most you can do, like with your suggestions, you can also do as store exclusives. Remember the Seekers from 2007? As for size, well...

What's the mark up for a deluxe? 5x retail? What's retail on your average MP? $100? How's a $500 Botcon figure sound?

Or if you're talking about the MP car bots with lower price points...well, the problem there would be licensing. It's probably going to be impossible to effectively spread out the licensing cost over a 2000-3000 figure run.
