It seems that everyone's upset he's coming back but I'm not I mean he did create greats like mp08 , mp10 and the greatest transformers figure ever mp01 so why doubt his ability ?

Mp05 was always going to be hard to engineer I think he did a great job with it and wasn't too fragile you just had to know what you were doing.

Mp03 has one of the best alt modes in transformers history mp11 is actually a worse figure in my opinion because of tge drab color scheme and blocky alt mode once you do the mods for mp03 he looks amazing.

Mp08 is pure awesomeness I don't think they could make him bigger than mp01 because that would be madness. But they definitely could have made mp10 bigger

As for the new designer he was good but you need to take a few things into account.
1 he had to engineer far less complicated transformers like Soundwave
2 they too had problems like the datsun trios hollow legs
3 the lack of die cast ir rubber wheels.

I personally believe that the old designer can do a much better jib this time around he's had more experience better technology and learned from his mistakes besides he's designing wheeljack and what we've seen of him so far looks cool,.

Shogo Hasui (the new guy) designed MP-10. The last MP figure Kobayashi designed was MP-09 Rodimus Prime.

I think a lot of people, including myself, are skeptical about Kobayashi's return because Hasui has been doing such an amazing job. To be perfectly honest I never have been a big fan of MP-01. He has an amazing robot mode, but a horrible truck mode. I'm a big alt mode guy, so the crazy proportions and indented front on the MP-01's truck mode drove me crazy. I also take no issue with the hollow legs, lack of die cast, or lack of rubber tires on the the recent MP's. I really hope Kobayashi proves me wrong, because I'm loving the current MP line.

Then you must prefer mp03 to mp11 ?

Also to guve mp01 credit at least the alt modes legs actually stay together unlike mp10's

Really, I'd classify any new Masterpiece Transformer mold made since the first one(Save perhaps Megs) to be leagues better. That thing is so big and heavy it could probably kill toddlers just by dropping it, it looks disproportionately ugly, and it's so chock full of pointless gimmicks it could pass for an overpriced UT toy. Mp-10 is a godsend compared to that old concrete block.

And, eh, I'm not sure how I feel about this. The fellow responsible for the MPs we've been loving is pretty great...and while earlier MPs were good, well I can't say they were great. MP01 having a crap altmode, the original MP Seekers having that silly hip kibble, MP Megatron...yeah, and MP Rodimus... Can we agree that the last two are fairly awful? What with all the mechanical issues the two have.

Y'know, the more I think about it, the more I DON'T want Kobayashi working on the MP line again.

I never had the chance to get MP-05, and I'm glad for it. Got the v1 MP-09 and was bitterly disappointed! MP-01 has a good robot mode, but as others have said, the truck mode sucks. Never wanted MP-03 or any of the repaints because of the stupid hip kibble, and, lets be honest, MP-03's colour scheme was crap. When I look at MP-03 I see a generic seeker, not Starscream tbh.

Everything from MP-10 onwards has been great. There was complaints about MP-12 paint apps, but there was no problems with mine so I can't speak to that. This "2.0" lot of MP releases has been getting everything right, and if things go back to what came before, then there will be a lot of people with collections that wont be finished without going the 3P route.

Atm collectors have good reason to be worried, because we have expensive MP sets that we've been told will encompass season 01, but they are changing designers midway, and the guy they are bringing in is responsible for most of the less liked MPs. I also remember reading that MP-03 was designed the way he was to be as accurate as possible to the real-life F-15 with no care what-so-ever for how he related to the cartoon character. If the MP line goes back in that direction it will be ruined for many.

Anyways, I'd say the stuff the newer designer has produced is far more screen accurate than the stuff the older designer had pumped out. But hey that's just me.

I guess I'm missing some context here, but um... I don't really care. I only ever handled an MP-01 once at a local-ish geek store, and that was all I needed to reassure myself it was a chunk of crap.

Mainly my issue with the change is: why mess with perfection?

Shogo Hasui's MP figures are very cartoon accurate, and have a sleek alt mode that looks just like the real car or truck.
They're so good looking and well done that I'd be impressed even if I didn't know the charterers.
His figures also scale well together.

I read an interview he gave, and follow his posts, Hasui gives the impression of someone who appreciates the original materiel and knows what he's doing. And well, it shows in the finished products.

Additionally, I don't like the way some of Hironori Kobayashi's MPs look. Especially Megatron. I was hoping Hasui would redo him (and Starscream again.)

btw, Wheeljack was designed by SH.

Mp01 a piece of crap ??? Wow... I do not know what to say to that it's gimmicks were incredible such as a light up matrix and wrist communicators and working pistons and wheel suspensions.

I will not go into detail about mp10 vs mp01 because that would be silly as there is no clear answer but hopefully no one can deny that due yo its success the masterpiece line was spawned.

Ps as leader of the Binaltech auto bots mp01> mp10 any day

Absolutely not, I much prefer MP-11 to MP-03. The changes to eliminate the hip kibble don't impact the jet mode that much. MP-11 still has a very realistic alt mode, but a much better robot mode.

There's a difference between gimmicks that hinder the figure and gimmicks that enhance it.

Articulated fingers are some of the biggest structural nonsense I've ever messed with, pistons are neat but hardly do anything pleasing, and I could argue forever that the budget for such pointlessness could go to making a great deal else about a given figure better in other ways.

Then we shall agree to disagree, as I find MP-01 appalling compared to MP-10. If I must go further though, I don't find either Masterpiece Optimus Prime to be the best in any respect, I just think the new mold prime is leagues above the old one.

I also don't get your love of die cast, it's just added weight. Hell if you look at any old G1 toy you can see that all that die cast content is offset by the fact that the plastic is super thin and breaks easily, which I've found can also be said of alternators. Take the metal out and re-budget in some better plastic content and it'll work better IMO.

I remembered when MP1 prototype pic first debut on the internet transfans worshiped MP1 beauty like he was the god of Venus! We marveled at the designer as to how he was able to achieve and hide the front wheel. 10 years later, the same mold is now being bashed as a piece of crap by some fans, this is just a joke :BANG_HEAD:

In my eyes, MP10 isn't quiet an improvement over MP1 in term of cartoon accuracy, in someway he's a lot more off than MP1. I'm still not a fan of that leg kibble or the gorilla long arm of MP10. Me personally, in an exception to MP3 which was screw up by the Macross dude, I love every MP figure that was released so far. The two biggest aspects which Hasui brought over to the MP line which our 1st designer Kobayashi failed to do are scale and simplifying the transformation. But in term of design and aesthetic, they both are pretty much good. I would rather let TTomy put Kobayashi back instead of letting some new dude who never done it before. Kobayashi did an amazing job on MP1,8,9, original prototype MP3, so I really have no issue on him. I think everything will be all right once he incorporates scale and lighten up the transformation complication e.g. MP5,9.

Die cast is incredible because
●It adds weight to the figure
●Die cast feet make the figure stand easier.
●Painted die cast looks much better than plastic
●Heaftier and higher quality feel
●Can withstand a much higher force compared to plastic
●Metallic colors like gold and chrome look better in die cast.

Honestly die cast is never a problem its just the weaker plastic that burdens it I mean look at mp05 if he had more die cast, the plastic parts wouldn't have broken same as mp09 if his leg panels were die cast it would have taken a much greater force to break them.Also in my opinion die cast makes masterpiece figures feel less like toys and more like high end collectors items hold up mp01 and mp10 together mp10 feels like
A toy in comparison , which isn't bad because that's what they are but I don't know just feels a bit cheap.

I think the biggest issue I have with mp10 is price, mp01 cost 120 usd to import while mp10 was double that, sure it came with a trailer but so did mp04 and he was still cheaper so in conclusion.
Mp10 is a great figure no denying it. but I feel that a mix between mp10 and mp01 would be the best. keep the gimmicks of mp01 and the die cast but keep mp10's size and articulation/joints also keep then newer altmode which is undeniably better than mp01's
