Optimal Optimus GPS?

Okay, I know Optimal Optimus does not have gold plastic, but the entire cannon/robot head area of mine cracked in half without doing a thing. I have never seen anything like this happen to any of my figures and am honestly quite shocked.

Does anyone else know of this figure suffering from weak plastic? Does the Japanese version use different plastics? Also, if anyone happens to have the cannon head thing available to buy, send me a PM. However, lets focus on the issue at hand here. Is this an isolated case or is it much more widespread?

Yes, I'm back from the dead. Its good to post again.

I remember a chunk of mine the size of my pinky nail broke off, I think after a hand-to-hand brawl with a TIE fighter. That being the only damage after many such duels and smackdowns, I wouldn't have thought GPS would be a problem, though his turret is made out of that sort of pearlescent plastic...

Yes, Optimal Optimus is a confirmed minor cause of GPS. TFWiki has this to say:

The sparkly dark brown plastic used for his wheels turret suffer from this. The block that holds the batteries is the most likely to break, as the "soft" ratchet joint requires the affected plastic to bend.

Don't know if the Japanese version switched out the affected plastic like it happened with Transmetal Megatron.

btw Welcome back robofreak, it's been a while! Yes, the site still contains nuts, but we're trying to change the warning.

This is a most unfortunate development then. He was one of my favorites and now I'm terrified of him. I'm going to do more research and see how different the Japanese version is.

We're in the same boat, different figure, different problem, same result: My Classics Skywarp's nosecone broke off at the hinge and replacing it or finding a suitable junker will be a nightmare. so I know how you feel :BANG_HEAD:
