I believe these are the KO dinobots. They were never officially reissued.

Still, it's a decent price if you're looking for display pieces and not too concerned with the occasional off-paint app or things not aligning all that well.

To be honest though, I've never done much research into these, so I cant' really speak to their quality.

You can always tell the KO Grimlock box because it contains the typo Dinobot Bommander Grimlock.

And one thing, in the KO Grimlock, the gold chrome chest piece won't lock in the side notches.

I've heard that the quality is quite good, especially for the price. I've not seen too many complaints on them. If I was into G1 and the Dinobots, I'd pounce on it.

Yeah, there's also actually a KO out there of Swoop with a blue chest, diecast and all making that particular KO the most show-accurate version in existence. He doesn't have the blunted beak either, unlike the US release. I'm still looking for one for a decent price (I have all the original non-KO Dinobots already, but come on, it's blue Swooooop!!!!).

Swoop's wings won't fold properly.

Which version? I ask because there's a review here of the one I want (the Diaclone colored version with the blue chest) that shows the wings folding quite happily (along with metal wheels for landing gears in his feed as opposed to the Hasbro version which has just solid plastic 'fake' landing gears there):

These KO's are by Zhong Jin, a Chinese company.

I can tell you that Snarl's tail is too big on the KO. And the paint can be especially flakey on all of the Dinobots, not to mention ANY Zhong Jin reissue-style KO. Don't even get me started on Springer. And if you want to buy a Zhong Jin minibot, look carefully beforehand. It may have 2 left arms. Every example of Mirage has 2 right hands. Lastly, the sticker sheets made by this company are NOT like Reprolabels. In fact, they are just printed paper and the designs on them can rub off really fast. You see these sticker sheets for sale on eBay a lot, since Zhong Jin also releases just stickers, boxes and inner-packaging bubbles (besides the toy's themselves).

Beware!

The KO Springer is kind of like next to the real thing............except for the lack of paint apps on the face. Though I'm not sure if mine is from the same manufacturer.

Did the original have paint apps on the face?

There are 2 ways you can tell who the manufacturer is (or isn't).

The Zhong Jin box for Springer has an error on the bottom of the box. Instead of saying "Springer", the box says "Octane". This is a sure-fire way to tell the difference, but only on boxed examples. The other thing, is that the Zhong Jin Springer has a die-cast metal chest, unlike other KO's of Springer.

(Edit: Incorrect info here:) Also of note: Zhong Jin (or any KO company, really) has never been in the practice of stamping moulds with the original Takara/Hasbro trademarks, so you won't see any stamps whatsoever.

If the first 2 things are not apparent, then it's most likely a release from a different company.

Izzat so? Mine has the metal chest. I'll be checking the box for the misprint. Thanks for the heads up.

(Though really,if that's the case I got the upper crust KO version because aside from the labels not sticking.......all are good.)

And the KO Grimlock has a Made in Japan stamping.

@ Ms. JGR

You mean to say Springer's face was not painted in the original? So the KO I got IS indeed next to the real thing (I'll update this thread concerning the other details mentioned by distinctroom)

Take a gander at his

Yup. Mine is the Zhong Jin version. Octane at the bottom of the box. Great quality (of course the paint chips at the locking notch)

Also has the Hasbro/Takara 1986 stamped on (beneath his chest plate.)

It has too much of a sheen to it. Another possibility is that the face is a separate plastic piece in a somewhat lighter green.

Oh, yeah! You are right about the stamps being there. I should get out the rest of my Zhong Jin's and reevaluate them.

I had to get my Zhong Jin Springer out to see if I'd missed anything and he does, in fact, have a light green paint app for the face, over a single piece of plastic for the head.

I did rechecked again using a different LED light source, yup, the face does have some extra paint apps

So this KO is indeed the closest thing to the original (except for the stupid misprint)

Nice to know that we learn something new everyday.
