So I just bit the bullet and decided to snag some Battle Beasts (part of the G1 continuity in Japan where they're known as Beastformers).

I bought the entire first 3 series of them (all rub signs/pre-crystal figures) for around $1700 on ebay.

I have no idea what these are but congrats!

I love Battle Beasts/Beastformers. I've got a handful and there's plenty more I need(most to replace ones I had as a kid but lost/broke).

I still have a few Battle Beasts from my childhood, from the first series to the crystal series. They were a lot of fun when I was a kid. Triple Threat Snake (English) / Snakebomb (Japanese) holds a special place from my childhood, as he was in the first 2 pack I got, and I love him to this day. His axe-pike is an awesome weapon, and made me think of the weapons used by Jabba the Hutt's guards. I remember when you had to mail away for the poster that had all their names on it.

The Laser Beasts (the ones with the crystals) are worth quite a bit these days as they're quite rare, I guess due to them being produced in low numbers towards the end of the series.

I had a ton of these as a kid as they were super cheap and I'd go to Wal-Mart nearly every day after school with my leftover change from lunch and buy a 2-pack of them.

It's funny, even back then when I was a kid before I even knew about the Japanese Headmasters series, I always thought of the Battle Beasts as being related to/part of the Transformers continuity. Just something about all the similarities between the rub signs, the mechanical parts, the bright colors/paint schemes and of course the fact that they were manufactured by Hasbro.

It's these and the guy that runs the site I just linked to is the one who sold them to me. He's sort of like the Seibertron of Battle Beasts/Beastformers. He's trying to help create an archive of the history of the Battle Beasts/Beastformers :)!

How they relate to Transformers can be found here.

BB are awesome. I don't have any of the old ones, but I am interesting in the new designs for Takara's recent BBs.

I want to own this.

I just had a hunt through a big bag full of these guys that I had as a kid.
I was looking up a few sites so I could match the weapons to each, but Wiki says that series 3 never came out in Europe. All mine are series 1 & 3, and I've never seen any of the series 2 figures here in the UK. I've never edited anything on a Wiki page before, so left it alone lol
I have all of series 1, and at least half of series 3.
Do any of you display them with your TFs? I picked out the ones that appeared in the Headmasters episode, the rest are now in a box.

I had a couple of these back in the day, but never realised they were TF cannon. What/how do they fit into G1?

They were featured in an episode of the Heasmasters cartoon, on their own planet called Beast (yes, really! No ties with the War Planet series however). Headmasters had plenty of planets, like Master, Feminia, Athenia, Pirate, and a couple more, Beast is nothing to be surprised about.

OK Thanks JZ. I've actually got Headmasters on DVD but have only ever watched 2 episodes because of the Japanese only dub, which I honestly can't stand.

If you want, the episode featuring the Battle Beasts is no. 5: Rebellion on Planet Beast. It also features the Monsterbots, appropriately enough.

War Planets was a decent series, and I noticed they used Planet Jungle for the planet Botanica got her Plant Mode from, before she returned to Cybertron in Beast Machines.
