i cant help but think about all the things ive missed in the past. everyone has something theyre kicking themselves over. what have you missed out on?

for me its:
encore bruticus- with all the versions of him out there, i didnt think he'd disappear like he did.

botcon beast wars- originally passed because of the price. now.... its doubled...

brave maximus- i wasnt even in the market for things like this at the time, but with the encore fort max and warden, im just drooling over brave max now...

Oh geeze, half my collection is figures I passed originally on, only to then want them badly and have to pay inflated prices.

Of course, now I'm so terrified of that happening, I buy a lot more figures if I have even the smallest inkling, thinking they won't be available later. My wallet can't win.

Agreed about Encore Bruticus; I would put the rerelease of Primus in as well.

primus certainly hasnt seen as much action as unicron. but the takara 2010(?) releases sure are pricey these days.

anyone else surprised they didnt repaint primus as a "golden age" cybertron?

Classics, Universe, and Animated. They were all released during a time when I was on a break from the hobby, though I was very tempted every time I saw them.

Luckily, I was able to get most of the Animated stuff for a good price at the tail end of the run and at Botcon '11.

I've missed the boat on lots of stuff. I didn't start collecting until 2007, so I was still able to get some Cybertron figures and a few Alternators and other figures from the early 2000's for decent prices on eBay, but I wish I'd started a few years earlier.

On Encore Bruticus, he has some justifiable bad rep and I remember a couple of posts (not from this site anyway) disparaging the release over it's not worth owning since the release of FP Colossus. Well surprise surprise, 2ndary market for him is up the roof. Though on my part, got him for the finally owning a complete set.

Mark my word, the next item people will be kicking themselves in the buTT is Encore 20A, aka anime Devastator. The Floro Dery style head, new hues, Diaclone arms and extra paint apps to emulate his anime appearance seems to be unappreciated (Tomy was kind of at fault for not releasing him as Encore 20 in the 1st place)but I noticed lately that it is quite hard to find him in Japanese online stores that cater to the 2ndary market.

2012 Unicron and the Primus re-release. I'd have loved those. I'll get them when I get a job.

If only I can trade in my Micron Legend Unicron (which I also got on the cheap)for that movie head version. baddies don't sell particularly well but the 1986 movie style head has made him quite pricey (and when released back then.........was kind off broke :BOOM: )

Japanese G1 stuff, 10-15 years back. It was nowhere close to expensive as it is now.

Also, exclusive Microns in the Galaxy Force/Movie 1 era. Extremely tough to find now; I can only assume the production numbers were much lower than any of the ML/SL era guys.

I'm actually looking at being on that side of the fence now. I really do not collect the beast wars stuff and maximals but this new Rhinox is putting me on the fence. A target by me has four and I was looking it over. Very nice, but I am trying not to break away from what I want my collection to be.

Part of me says just get him and keep him in the box for now so if I ultimatly decide to not want it I can return it no harm done.

I'd stopped buying toys around G2 so wasn't getting anything at the time of Beast Wars. Was looking after some of the neighbours kids for some cash and they were playing with the likes of the first Cybershark, Claw Jaw and Optimus Primal. Now I'd seen these on the shelves, but had dismissed them because "Trukk Not Munkey" but after a few minutes of playing about with them, appreciated the designs.

It wasn't til much later that I got a chance to see the fiction, and then I was really hooked. I managed to pick up a couple of them when they were on clearance, and kept somewhat interested in the franchise to get some BM and RiD but there's a lot of BW stuff I'd love to get.

thats an arguement i really dont understand. FP's bruticus upgrade doesnt take away from G1 nostalgia. if thats a persons reasoning then why collect anything G1?

and i dont understand the underselling of the anime devastator. i have him and hes brilliant. i almost wanted a second one just to display the individual bot modes, cause those new paint apps on their heads are amazing. i picked mine up on sale at bbts for 99... now theyre out of stock.

Anything G1 I missed in the 80's especially Jetfire Fire, Roadbuster, Shockwave etc, because they will never get a reissue.

Definitely the 2010 Takara Primus.

Powermaster Optimus Prime and Sixshot reissues.

ROTF Leader Jetfire, Buster Prime and Megs, 2007 movie Brawl leader class. Battle blades Bumblebee

Beast Wars.

I'm sure there's more too

I don't get it, either - its a wonderful reissue. Those that know me will know I avoid reissues like the plague, as I often find them not quite up to muster compared to a true original (thinner plastics, dodgy stickers ECT).

Whilst 20A had a problem with mine - it was otherwise a lovely purchase. Maybe if I'd bought it as a toy, I'd have been a little worried (the plastic is a little sharper than my originals and it feels lighter), but since its little more than a display piece - I love it. And yes.. I bought it for the head. ;)

Mine was £60 including TRACKED and insured shipping from china. Crazy cheap. (and definitely legit, too)

I know you have your reasons A, which I fully respect. However I love those reissues. For me it's the thrill of opening a brand new G1 toy for the first time and smelling that new toy smell (especially if it has rubber tyres). I never had many TF's growing up so I like the fact that it's 'untouched'.

I did get the regular encore Devy release and he is flawless no QC issues at all. I was tempted with the anime version but funds are tight and I really, really want to get that reissue Fort Max by the end of the year before he gets ridiculously expensive.

I am tempted by the Fort Max reissue, but I hold back for these reasons.

- it would mean the start of me collecting Head\TargetMasters which is a whole new can of wallet pain compared to other G1s. Specifically - TargetMaster Scourge.
- I'd be buying a reissue Fort Max *purely* for the sword, because I'd want to have a vingage, too

As for reissues - I understand the love, I really do. I have TFC00 Convoy and the TFC06 Megatron, both of which were loved for their minty freshness. (I bought them for the axe and mace, really). But money is the devil and I have to make a choice between vintage and reissue. I chose vintage because its capturing a little piece of history. Plus I like displaying boxes. And theres my incredible bad luck with reissues to consider.

On another note - I missed the Ehobby Black Megatron ship. Twice. That sucked.

personally, id just get him. but it wouldnt be a complete loss if you waited and missed out. i mean, a couple years down the line you might have to pay a premium of 10-20 bucks. but thats not the end of the world. what was (nearly) the end of the world for me was paying 210 for a henkei dinobot recently. generations rhinox wont be impossible to find... for a while...

and actually, my anime devastator's mixmaster had a broken arm. which really sucked. i just kinda shrugged cause he was going to be combined for display anyways. but yeah... the old saying "they dont make em like they used to" really rings true.

right there with you. my G1 collection will be everything reissued for that reason. as for the non-reissues i havent decided... im thinking i want sealed bubbles but thats going to make things very expensive...

Talking like a true Transformer collector shajaki. As I said, the logic of the poster I mentioned defies logic (probably more on the blowhard logic of "I can afford to buy this" and you can't  , going to the point of emphasizing his ability to buy 3rd party incarnations of the original gestalts and how they don't even come close.........my gawd.....comparing 1980s tech with todays :BANG_HEAD: )

Encore 20A btw, I too couldn't get right away (d@mn Tomy for 1st releasing Encore 20) due to funding issues but I eventually scored the last unit from an online store at 47% off the regular price.

Btw, those gestalt Encores cost quite a sum on the shipping so the 47% off was a godsend.

On Q.C. Encore 20 has issues wit the rub signs. The laminate on them kept falling off and Tomy idiotically placed the signs on both 20 and 20A Mixmaster in a location that gets it crimped during Devastar mode.

I missed the boat on a bunch of the Generations-styled Japanese stuff. Like Henkei Smokescreen & Sunstreaker, or United Drift & Tracks. I have most of the Hasbro Classics/Universe/Generations versions, but it would have been nice if I had the funds or gumption to go after the Japanese versions when they were still available.

A lot of the other stuff I missed - like Dominator Unicron or Creator Primus - I was able to pick up at a reasonable price not long after they stopped being widely available. Luckily, I started collecting right around the time the first Classics figures were releasing (I may have started collecting seriously BECAUSE of Classics), and I mainly collect Classics & MPs (I used to collect Movie, Animated & Prime as well, but I sold most of those), so I haven't missed molds so much as particular versions of a given mold.

Drift & Blurr are definitely attainable - I'm currently pursuing a few leads, so we'll see!

As for the Unicron Stand, I was lucky enough to snag the Brownnoize Throne of Chaos when it was on clearance from BBTS. Super happy with it. :D
