Umm, this isn't G1 Prime. This is AoE Prime. Different character.

And even if it was G1 Prime, who honestly cares? It's a tiny detail, and if you ask me it's about time Prime got a little reinvention.

Oh, I know that full well. The mold, however, is very clearly meant to homage G1 Optimus Prime. Although a flatnosed truck version of Prime exists in the movie, it's all rusted out and colored with dull browns and grays. So, none of the toy releases of this mold are even close to "screen accurate." Hasbro rolled with the G1 homage pretty well, but made a few mistakes and omitted some paint apps. Takara added in some nice paint apps, but switched some colors around, managing to pull the homage away from G1. In exchange, they seem to be trying to homage original movie-verse prime a bit. I'm just saying, there's no win for someone who wanted a spot on G1 deco on this Prime, though it's obvious that's what Hasbro tried.

Meh. If you wanted a spot-on G1 deco, then I'd say get classics/Masterpiece prime, or just paint the hands and feet blue.

I think he looks better with silver hands and feet myself. It sets him apart from other Primes and makes him look like more than just G1 Prime run through a Bayification filter.

Also, I'm pretty sure the whole point of a homage is it's supposed to be somewhat subtle, a nod to the older material, rather than a blatant "HEY LOOK IT'S G1 PRIME WITH MORE GREEBLES". It's the difference between an original idea and a rehash of an older idea.

@Valandar: I have the Payload mold, aside from the long stem sticking from his back (which I'm willing to forgive because GIANT CLAW) he's one of my favourite Movieverse toys. Very poseable, cool vehicle mode, probably the best headsculpt out of the "camera faces"... I certainly don't have many troubles balancing him, and the easily detachable parts can be fixed with a dab of glue. Not sure why you hate Payload so much.

Regardless, if I see him, Dispensor is mine.

Huh, pretty interesting what TakaraTomy did the packaging for these toys:

- For AoE toys, it's simply adapted Hasbro packaging, including the "Changes in so many steps!", Size Class, Series and Figure ID's.
- For older toys (AD08 to AD15), it has the name of the Movie the characters appeared in and a Japanese bio.

Jolt, Revenge Optimus Prime, and Dispensor I'll definitely get. I'll be sticking with the US releases for the rest, I don't care for the "the TakaraTomy one has better deco", leave that until comparisons appear on Japanese blog sites. >:oP

Still NO for Grimlock even though the paint job is good. I'm never buying this mold with the mutant t-rex chest that looks like an alien is about to pop out. Not to mention the BIG elf shoes is a huge turnoff.

On the leader mold at least you can tuck the elf toes under. No cure for the terrible T-rex chest though.

Yeah I know, leader looks slightly better bot mode too but the Rex mode is fugly in its own way. So I'm not holding my breath for the black-knight leader Grimlock, which just looks like a chunk of obsidian plastic. Hopefully they are re-engineering him to look better for future versions... hopefully
We agree a lot taste-wise Diem, wish there is a like button so I can thumb up your posts.

Why on Earth did takara paint the black detail on the front of Crosshairs' arms, and completely skip out the paint work on the doors!? He has just the same problem as the Hasbro one!

Yes on ProtoPrime and maaaaybe a Scorn. The rest can go into the recycling bin. I really am not a fan of that head sculpt on Classics Prime. It's really weird lookin.

Oh....and Dispensor. I like him as well. Not gonna buy it though.

DON'T. The repaint may be awesome and fan-inspired, but the mold is one of the worst ever.

Not really sure why they are doing all those movie repacks but I'll just stick with pick and choose of the Hasbro versions.

Don't care for the painted eyes on Eva mode Prime but why didn't the sword make it to mass production?

It's a damn shame that our chances of Hasbro doing something this cool here in the states is about zilch. I got my first look at some of the AoE figures last night in hand and they have as much appeal as a frozen suppository.
I'd snatch up The Protoform Prime, Dispensor, Starscream and Devastator to go along with the High Octane 'Bee and I might even add the E-mode Prime to that list if their version looks more appealing in hand than the U.S. version does. BUT... Hasbro isn't going to do anything this cool since they already have a metric sh**-ton of their own poorly thought out movie figures to peddle on us. So I guess I'm stuck with paying an ungodly amount for mark-up and shipping if I want these figures or do without and since I'm a cheap bastard, it looks like I'll be going without.

Just get a paintbrush and dot them in yourself. It would literally take, what, 5 seconds?

I wasn't saying it would be a difficult thing to do were someone so inclined. I was commenting on those folks who believed these versions would have these details painted.

(but for the record, it'd probably take more than literally 5 seconds, especially if you have to go buy paints and paint brushes and open the paints)

Toys"R"Us Japan has updated their website with some nice high quality images of the upcoming Transformers: Lost Age Movie Advanced figures AD-16 Dino and AD-17 Soundblaster. Dino is a redeco of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Delxue Sideways with a newly molded head, and Soundblaster is redeco of Transformers: Dark of the Moon Deluxe Soundwave that was originally intended to be released in the ill-fated Movie Trilogy line.
