I am curious to know if any of the movie verse toys could fit into classics/generations line? like DOTM soundwave? or Blackout/Grindor?

Thoughts?

Definitely Sea Spray from the 2010 line as your Classics Sea Spray. He was even meant to be such in the developmental stages of the toy, but got released in the ambiguous 2010 line instead, and then put into some movie-verse fiction, though Hasbro still insists he is NOT a movie-verse character.

Another great choice is ROTF Bludgeon. Again, he's got a long history before he ended up in the ROTF line. He was originally going to be in the Cybertron line, then in the Universe 2008 line as "Classics" Bludgeon, but ultimately didn't see release until the ROTF line. Like Sea Spray, he found his way into some movie-verse fiction as well.

Lockdown is also another toy you could add to your classics shelf. His entire movie-verse model, car and bot mode, were repurposed in IDW's ongoing Transformers comic books, the ones that are a reboot of G1, so the movie-verse toy is now a "neo-G1" version of the character as well.

Of course, any repaints or retools of the above molds are fair game to add to your shelf as well, so don't feel guilty about throwing in Banzaitron, Axor, Circuit (TFCC), or even the fictionless Deep Dive.

DOTM had a Powerglide in the Commander class that I felt worked fine as a Classics representation of the character. I got the Maketoys one that filled the spot better for me, but the DOTM one is fine. There was also a DOTM Guzzle.

I'll second Bludgeon and Lockdown. Both are very nice.

The DOTM Human Alliance Basic bots are also quite nice for a collection and there are a couple that could fit in as Classics characters.

I'll "third" Lockdown..........especially since a new mold is coming with the 4th movie so you can just slide him over permanently.

Some have claimed Brawn / Fallback which I would absolutely agree with a different head mold.......

RotF Bludgeon is my Classics Bludgeon with the Headrobots upgrade set, hes a winner!

I also have RotF Whirl (RotF Blackout repaint) who has been my Classics Whirl but he will be replaced with the recently released Generations Whirl.

Standing proud at the front of my Classics shelf is also RotF Human Alliance Basic Half Track who fills the gap as my Classics Beachcomber! ;)

There are a handful of movie-verse toys that work for Classics. Here are a few (some have been mentioned already):

ROTF Lockdown
ROTF Bludgeon
RTS Lugnut
HFTD Banzaitron
HFTD Sea Spray
HFTD Axor

I know Axor & Banzaitron are just repaints... but they're great repaints!

Any non-movie character HftD/RtS figure is fair game for G1 repurposing. Some G1 homages are good as well, as I've done in the past:

- RotF Gears
- RotF Hoist
- RotF Deadlift as Gobots Spoons
- HftD Axor

Come to think of it, I do use ROTF Mindwipe as a Classics character...

bludgeon w/headrobots upgrade kit, and banzaitron for sure.

sea spray... while ive heard he is an excellent figure... i just cant. while im not obsessed with scales, he was a minobot. same reason i never got classics powerglide.

What about Blackout/Grindor? or DOTM Deluxe Soundwave?

Blackout would work; I just don't have him. I wish they'd release a larger version of that toy; it would be quite cool.

DOTM Deluxe Soundwave seems less viable, especially when you have WFC & Music Label Soundwave available.

RTS Lugnut is already a neo-G1 character, actually. Check out the comic that comes with the RTS "Battle in Space" two pack with Rodimus and Cyclonus. It takes place during The Transformers: The Movie and retcons Lugnut into the battle at Autobot City. I don't think there is actually ANY fiction that places him in the movie-verse. Plus, Takara released him under the United (Henkei 2.0) line. I don't understand why Seibertron.com has RTS Lugnut lumped in with the movie-verse, honestly.

RTS Lugnut is a movie-styled figure, that's all. His mechanics and overall aesthetic scream movie (at least to me). Same thing with Lockdown - I think they just wanted to give fans popular TFA characters, and the movie line was one way to help us shoehorn them into Classics.

see, I think they're probably more Classics figures that got released in the movie line because it was easier. Lugnut definitely. The case for Lockdown being either/or is strong, but he does have an actual face, so I'm quite happy putting him in Classics.

In addition to everything that's already been named, I give a vote to Rotf Scout class Rollbar. It's a pretty nice looking little mold, and it's a flipchanger (a pretty decent one at that), for added nostalgia. He looks pretty good, all blue-and-grey, and cuts a nice figure as a sort of Optimus Minor/Orion Pax stand in with an earth altmode. Or, of course, he can just be a generic Autobot (with a touch of Prime Apotheosis) to fill out the ranks. I'm surprised he never got a Red/Orange/Yellow repaint, he'd make a great Rodimus.

Issues? It doesn't stand up super well, as it's quite topheavy and he's got no heels.

Longarm (2007 line) makes a good 'generic' Autobot, a lot of the Real Gear characters (especialy Longview IMHO) make good 'mass changers' like G1 Soundwave and Perceptor and the like, Wreckage and his repaint Bludgeon are excellent 'generic' land troops for the Decepticons, Deep Dive if you don't like Seaspray as a giant (it's still an excellent mold), Ransack / Dive Bomb (the biplane mold) is good for a pair of comedy characters, Hailstorm / Mindset for fire support for their factions, Highbrow is just a fun mold and looks "clanky" enough to be an old Cybertronian grumping around on Earth...

In short, a whole LOT of non-movie characters straddle the design line enough they could slip through. :D

Yeah, Sea Spay and Bludgeon are definitely part of my Classics lineup, and I'm thinking of grabbing a Movie Lockdown as well. Given that various official fiction have already re-purposed Lockdown and Bludgeon as G1 versions, it's not even an issue.

Oddly enough, I don't place RTS Fallback, Hailstorm, or Mindset in my G1 lineup. They look a little too movie-esque for me. I know, it just a matter of opinion of what is too movie-eque but I think it helps that none of them really world fill any holes in my Classics shelf. Two are stand alone characters and I already have an Outback that's more accurate.

I may repurpose Mindwipe, although if I do, he's going to be Bomb burst. A batlike robot mode and a jet alt mode scream Bomb Burst to me more than Mindwipe.

What does anyone think of the Power Core Combiner figures? Their robot modes seem to have a movie aesthetic, but otherwise, the seem too unrealistic to fit into the movie line.

DotM Soudwave is an awesome figure, who I also believe could squeeze his way into a Classics/Generations line-up. Despite his limited availablity in his original form (not to mention the Soundblaster repaint) I am still surprised Hasbro hasnt given him a respray into G1 colours as a Movie4/Generations figure?

Actually, where the heck is my Seaspray? I must pull my storage boxes down NOW!! ;)

Saw a recent Ebay seller knocking out oversized KOs of RotF Rollbar which caught my eye... :-?

May I ask who you use as Outback as I still need to fill that gap, preferably with something Deluxe if possible?

Good thinking Batman! ;)

I use PCC Leadfoot as my Classics Leadfoot! :D

The Outback he's talking about is probably the BotCon 2005 Fallback (renamed for Subaru and steakhouse reasons). He works surprisingly well as the G1 character.

I've renamed Fallback as Fallout, and he's a 'Con. (I thought the quite movie-esque headsculpt could work as a gasmask of sorts and with that and the colourscheme he reminds me of the dude on the cover of Fallout 3) He's an Extreme Conditions trooper, or something.

Mindwipe as Bomburst works pretty well. I don't have him, but if I ever pick him up on the cheap I might do that too.

I have the PCCs as sort of an opposing faction to my Classics-integrated Human Alliance guys. Most of my HA bots are Autobots, whereas I seemed to only pick up Decepticon PCCs, so it works out that the goodies have the human partners and the baddies have their wee robot buddies. Renamed and re-envisioned some of them of course, and some of the heads are a bit movie-ish, but otherwise I think they go well. Undertow would have made a nice Octopunch if he was a bit larger. Even as is he works nice in that kind of role. I have him mistransformed with the diver helmet on top and the PCC connector arms up by his head as "tentacles".

Speaking of the Human Alliance basics, Reverb is a great homage to Action Master Rad. Now that I've finally tracked one of these guys down, I'll be using him as Classics Rad when I get him in-hand.

I have the Igear Bushwacker which isn't that great (the colors are off), but still looks closer to a G1 Outback, especially since I have the Igear Hench (Brawn) and the two compliment each other well.

Before that, I was using 2007 Movieverse Crosshairs which uses the same mold as the Botcon Fallback. The colors are lighter but for the cheaper price, I felt it was still a decent match.

Taking the cue from PCC Huffer I've repurposed quite a few PCC figures into G1 characters.

Searchlight - Highbrow
Leadfoot - Slapdash (though I'm starting to like the idea of G2 Leadfoot)
Sledge - G1 Sledge
Heavytread - Guzzle
Skyhammer - Triggerhappy
Icepick - G1 Icepick
Bombshock - Roughstuff (Onslaught seems more obvious but I already have too many Onslaughts on my Classics shelf)
Skyburst - Tread Bolt
Double Clutch - Freeway
Steamhammer - Gravedigger
Grimstone - Slag

Movie car breakaway is really getaway, and the crankcase from that wave works well too. But this is because they were ment for classics anyway.

Along those same lines, Big Daddy from the 2007 movie line works great as a Classics version of the character. Plus, that Cybertron Downshift mold is one of my favorites. It's very simple to transform, but fun and satisfying.

Some other Wal-Mart exclusive 2007 movie deluxes I've repurposed include Crankcase as the G1 character of the same name, Jolt as Roadhugger, and Grindcore as Crashbull. The only one of the seven I can't fit onto my Classics shelf seems to be Divebomb with his glorious rotten banana deco. :P

We think alike as I do the same thing, except for Grindcore. About Divebomb, his bio has very subtle references to everyone's favourite Seeker Clone: Sunstorm. The pattern is actually based on that of a real life plane, like Classics Starscream, in this case it's the Russian SU-37 Terminator.

The Power Core Combiners are an odd lot in my collection (it doesn't help I've broken Skyburst, Darkstream, Sledge and Leadfoot), but I've done some repurposing here and there:

Huffer as... well, G1 Huffer.
Salvage as G1 Mudslinger
Stakeout as G1 Hot Spot

Crankcase as G1 Motormaster
Over-Run as G1 Drag Strip
Windburn as Gobots Twin Spin

I also have 2007 Mudflap as Erector, though I need to get an Autobot symbol to cover his Decepticon one.

If Stakeout had better drones, I would've picked him up, though I think he makes more sense as First Aid. Especially since there are some other Hot Spots available for the Classics line.
