Hegemon vs. WFC Megatron?

Assuming financial barriers are not an issue, which of the two is better, Hegemon or WFC Megatron (any deco)?

I don't agree with the premise that one needs to be better than the other; they accomplish very, very different things.

I've owned several Hegemon figures, but sold them all due to what I considered poor QC. Those were all from the initial run; I've been told that subsequent runs held up better. What I can say from my experience is that Hegemon is an awesome figure, at least in theory, and serves a G1-esque purpose. His transformation is finicky and frustrating, but you get a gun, so.

WFC Megatron is great - relatively simple, beautifully Cybertronian, and very accurate to his game character model. But he's a deluxe. If he and WFC Optimus were voyager-sized, they would absolutely be my Classics faction leaders.

Yup, the two aren't really directly comparable. Hegemon is over Voyager size, whereas WFC Megs is a Deluxe (a chunky one though, despite not being too tall) and they're very different designs for the character. I don't have Hegemon but he is quite poseable and the alt mode seems good enough. Transformation appears to be quite fiddly and at the end of the day he's over a hundred dollars. The WFC Megatron should be able to be picked up for around $20-30 or there are some rarer variations if you fancy a different paintjob on him. He's got some good articulation and is quite accurate to the game.

I like my leader characters to be tall; a head taller than their subordinates. But in the case of WFC Megatron, he actually scales very well with the other WFC/FOC Generations figures, especially among the Decepticons, who are all a bit shorter than he is, with only Soundwave comparable in height. He is very accurate to his in-game model, and I like his transformation far more than that of Hegemon.

But he looks out of place with the other CHUG figures and their Earth modes. I don't display him there. If the majority of your characters on your "Classics" shelf have Earth-based alt modes, then I think Hegemon is the better choice.

If I could, I'd have both.

Unfortunately Hegemon is illegal to own here in Australia due to our gun laws

So this ^

I've got Hegemon and I also have every single variant/version of the WfC Megatron mold. If Voyager size is not a requirement and neither is G1 cartoon accuracy and you're just looking for straight up which is the superior figure all around, then Has/Tak wins by miles. It's one of my favorite molds of all time and if they ever release any new variants/versions of that mold in different colors, I'll own them as well (so far the best are the 2 Takara versions, both of which have paint jobs and plastic colors that will make you cry because of just how epic they look compared to their drab Hasbro counterparts).

YES - I have both the United & Darkside versions of WFC Megatron, and they are GLORIOUS.

I've thought about picking up the regular Hasbro Generations version again (I sold the couple I had last year), but that white, though game accurate, doesn't quite do it for me. Gunmetal & Black, all the way!

Dude, it all depends on how much you did or didn't mess with the default brightness of your display settings/the game's graphics settings. The darker/more metallic tones on the United version ARE more game accurate if you leave everything set to its dark defaults (I know cuz' I paused the game once and just sat there staring at Megatron's back and comparing it to how that toy looked in hand with a huge grin on my face :P). Plus, that metallic red on his arms (and the metallic purple on the Darkside version for that matter) is just amazing. It's like liquid metal blood.

Even if WFC Prime has a cybertronian mode and not an Earth mode?

Between those 2 I'd say WFC Megs hands down, as I have little to no love for a full on G1 Megatron design to begin with, let alone a fiddly-a** 3P toy that uses said design.
