New Hasbro Transformers Trademark Applications

We have a new round of Hasbro trademark applications courtesy of the United States Patent and Trademark Office. We already knew that Nightbeat would be appearing in the Generations line as a repaint/remold of IDW Deluxe Bumblebee. The other four remain, while all familiar to the Transformers franchise, remain a mystery.

BotCon exclusives perhaps? Or maybe they're for Generations figures, who knows?

I misread 'Overload' as 'Overlord' at first. I was ecstatic for a split second. Now, I'm sad. :-(

^ Yeah hell since this is generations and the regular movie line was moved into Gen heck some of them could be AOE characters.

This.

In any case, Nightbeat is obviously for the new GEN Nightbeat.

Overload could be an AOE character, or perhaps a GEN Wide Load?

Rook (After looking him up) very likely a AOE character, as we don't even know what the original turned into, thus: No toy.

Strongarm was way too minor a character during the Unicron trilogy to earn a toy. Probably an AOE.

Sunstreaker either an AOE or a re-release of Universe Suntreaker in a better paint scheme

I present to you a possible use for Rook: as a grey RtS Windchanger repaint:

Yeah, I know Takara Tomy makes 'em first. A guy can dream, can't he?

Is there any reason to assume they are trademarking these names for the purposes of creating a figure? Could these trademarks merely be for comic characters?

If there's a Sunstreaker figure coming, I'd bet it's going to be Generations, not MP. The MP Lambo mold doesn't work for Sunstreaker, and I doubt they're going to make another lambo mold.

these are all probably repaints of either generations or movie figures. Repaints typically stick together so since nightbeat is one then its safe to assume they all are. But shouldnt they have done nightbeats trademark before making the toy?

I wouldn't think so. Do you see tm or ® whenever a name is uttered in the comics? Trademarks are used for products like toys and merchandise, I don't think for every single fictional character.

And looking at them a bit closer, they're filed with this ID:

Toy action figures, toy vehicles and toy robots convertible into other visual toy forms

Well that's good to hear! Now let's hope they're for Generations figures, not flip-n-changers or one-step-smashers or mash-em-uppers or flip-n-mashers or two-step-changers or stomp-n-chomp-construct-bot-KREON-riders.

Rook is probably a repaint of Legends Tailgate and not RtS Windcharger because if they bothered to make a new mold for Tailgate instead of using the RtS Windcharger mold then they've probably given up on the RtS mold.

If that's the case then he would come with a repaint of Groundbuster with the name of Strongarm or Overload.

Sunstreaker and either Strongarm or Overload can be anything. Maybe even new Legends molds.

Maybe Overload will be a repaint of the Generation Legends Optimus Prime (the one that comes with Roller)

Yes! A new deluxe, more G1 Generations Sunstreaker because the old one is too big and doofy, and now too expensive to manufacture.

Thanks in advance Hasbro!

I've already decided to get Nightbeat.

The rest I don't care about aside from Sunstreaker. I know it's very unlikely but I wish it was MP Sunstreaker. I still think they could do a heavy remold of Wheeljack to get a proper Sunstreaker. But, being Hasbro, I'm sure it's just some AOE toy or (almost as unlikely) another Generations version. Which I actually don't want because the existing one is fine.

Do trademarks really mean all that much? I'm looking at older TM news stories, and a LOT of them haven't been used. Funnily enough, I re-found that "Tankor" was renewed back in 2011. So maybe it'll take another 3 years for these names to get used.

And shouldn't Nightbeat's trademark have been gotten a while ago? I'd assume they'd need the legal right to a name before they go showing it off to customers...

I personally love that Nightbeat on that body. :D I never got the Dumblebee with that mold because IDW Dumblebee will never be anything but his small squat self. >:oP Do I wish Nightbeat would be a headmaster? Of course. :BOOM: Hasbro, you're ridiculous. WE WANT OUR HEADMASTERS!! :BANG_HEAD: :BANG_HEAD: :BANG_HEAD :HEADHURTS: :HEADHURTS: :-B :-B :

Dude, the Universe Sunstreaker was a good figure, I thought he fitted in perfectly with Hound, Mirage, Bumblebee ect.

You know what's weird about them filing for these Trademarks? Hasbro already had them. Instead of just renewing the these Trademarks that they already had, they avoided the easier route and filed for new ones of them all over again. Why would they go the harder route?

Calling it now, Sunstreaker is a re-tool/re-paint of WFC Sideswipe.

Or since Sideswipe is a retool of Jazz

they take both molds and combine them to make Sunstreaker

of course he would need a new head.

Plot twist: Overload, Rook, and Strongarm are all new names for Long Haul, Hook, and Scavenger, respectively. 8-}

I'm surprised they hadn't done an Overlord yet (outside of BotCon) yet. He's such a fan-favorite; should he not deserve his own figure that isn't just a cheeky retool?

Totally agreed, even if all we get someday is a repaint, I'm hoping for Cybertron Starscream (Voy or leader, take your pick) or GEN Blitzwing (If you mod him, he's quite cool)

Rook as either the G2 or Regeneration One character really does make sense. After all he was one of Jhiaxus' cronies so it's a good pairing. But more than likely he'd be a repaint of Legends Tailgate in black and gray.

I'd like to think Overload will be a remake of the Armada character, but it probably is a blue repaint of Legends Optimus Prime as someone else mentioned.

Sunstreaker will probably be an AoE repaint of one of the cars.

For Strongarm I'm thinking AoE Hound repaint.
