Sigh, Mods, don't be so quick on the delete button.
Let's try this again.

:michaelbay: GOBOTS FOWEVAH! :michaelbay:

Seriously, I would really, really like a GoBots line. I mean, at least make a Generations deluxe line with the mian characters. Cy-Kill, Leader One, and the rest. They would have simple transformations and would be 100% show accurate. Is that too much to ask? Gobots ARE part of the TF 30 years History after all.

We'll have to wait and see what else they release in their Transformers: Legends toyline.

Thus far, we know of Rattle, Convoy, Tankor, Roadbuster, and Whirl.

Yes. 1984forever loathes those kind of Autobots (all of which came out in 1985-1986, btw, rather than 1984).

...Note to self.

Back on track, I'm actually looking forward to grabbing both of these figures despite not living in the UK or being a big fan of RID. Transformers are Transformers and from the video reviews and pics I've seen, they look like fun!

(Sorry, Va'al. I missed your post before I posted.)

But what are the chances of them releasing the figures with that paint job? High or low? Because I currently have a friend overseas who's willing to help me get some stuff that I can't find in this sad excuse for a toy aisle. So I would like someone to tell me the chances and if I should wait to import the figures or not.

The chances at this point are 50/50, as we have seen very little of this line and don't yet have a firm grasp on Takara's plans for it. All we know thus far is that line seems to have figures with "different colors and/or more paint apps than the Hasbro versions", which is something that could be said of every Takara TF line.

Why not? **** would be hillarious!

Seriously, Are you hating Gobots that much? They were pretty nifty toys and many of them were great fun! Appart the Rock Lords, obviously.

Most Gobots would change in two steps, with a pretty good robot mode and usually, a vehicle mode with ZERO robo parts visible. Seriously, most Gobots in vehicle form could pass as normal Matchbox cars!

Those guys deserves the Generations treatment.

Not hating on Gobots. I remember as a kid running around the dining room, bent over, running my mom's pin-roller on the floor.
I actually had a Rock Lord and really liked it!
Animorphs are what I'm mostly ripping on. If people want to see it return, why not? (It would be hilarious!)

Based on promo pics, the Japanese versions of Roadbuster and Whirl WILL have different paint apps. RB has a more "glow worm" like visor. And the decals most probably will be ditched.

The mini-bots legends also most likely have a slightly different paint apps if the last combining minicons are any indication (Centuritron)

Gobots/Machine Men aren't part of the Transformers 30th Anniversary. Va'al has already asked people to keep things on topic, so let's keep it on topic.

Got Roadbuster today, so far so good. I love the modular nature to the weapons. Haven't had a chance to sticker or transform it yet.

I know they arent part of the current line but a wish for it to be included is way more on topic than the previous "trufan" mudfest. Va'al asked people to stay on topic by stopping the pontless "geewun" fan argument and going back to the 30th anniversary line. That's what I did. I made a WISH for something that is PART of the wide TF universe to be included in the line. It's something everyone do all the times for every threads ever. That IS on topic.

Are we now banned from wishing things to happen in any lines ever? We should only talk about what is currently in the line and what is officially announced to come only? As soon that we wish for a random transforming bot to be included on the line, a transforming bot that is part of the Transformers universe no less, we get shout at? Gobots/Machinemen is considered an alternate universe of TF and is owned by Hasbro. It's also pretty G1. The 30th series is a line that honnor 30 years of TF History by hommaging multiple TF universes. Beast Wars, The Unicron Trilogy, G1, IDW, Cybertron, Ect... Gobots went to the TF comics a couple of times, notably the running gag of CyKill be killed like a South Park Kenny. You telling me it's not part of it? At all? Not even remotely? It's so off topic that it's considered warning worthy as a random flamewar?

Threads are usually a balance of discutions about what is, and what we wish to be. So, we must now cut the "wish part"? Especially if it IS on topic?

Allow me to find the idea revolting and to be angered by it.

Unfortunately, whilst Hasbro owns the GoBots IP, Bandai owns the toys (which were under the Machine Robo line in Japan) so there's no chance of the toys being reissued.

Which is a shame, because Defendor is awesome, and Destroyer would totally work as a mass-produced Decepticon drone (also, rubber treads). Defendor is to the best of my knowledge fairly easy to find, but getting a Destroyer who's treads haven't rotted/cracked is near impossible. For once I would be up for knockoffs (or rather counterfeits/recasts) just to "save" the toys. Also, AFAIK, modern rubber shouldn't dry out and disintegrate the way the old stuff did.

New toys homaging them would be great though.

On topic, Roadbuster looks cool. I was thinking about getting FP's Revolver, but I might just get this instead (I'd totally be down for Recoiler and Riftshot though). Sky-Byte looks great too, although I'd have to see a comparison of this new toy and the original. I always wanted Sky-Byte as a kid even though I never watched the cartoon (I just saw this big, mean-looking, chromed-up cyborg shark and thought "It will be mine. Oh yes. It will be mine.". Never got one though, sadly.

I totally should watch RID though- is the Japanese version particularly better than the English version or should I just stick to the dub? Normally I only watch the original Japanese version of anime, but seeing as (AFAIK) the dub is pretty good, and it was made to be exported anyway I don't know which to watch.

Quick question, do we roughly know when Windblade and Chromia will hit retail?

I hoping that they will hit uk stores, already got a big import list, don't want to add to it

On the matter of gobots, isn't that something the club would do?

They would, because they have integrated Gobots in their fiction. As far as Hasbro's concerned however, Gobots are not Transformers, and only serve as cameo material.

I just hate when a company only have half the rights. As owning the name but not the thing. Still, I would totally see GoBots as a Botcon/club set.

As for the girls, all 3 at once (!) I'm really, really looking forward to them.

Puzzler was the best thing ever when I was a kid. 6 robots (one of whom looked exactly like Sunstreaker) that had NO KIBBLE WHATSOEVER, combining into a mecha that put Hasbro's offerings to shame. (Except maybe Defensor.)

One thing I like is that HasTak seems to be making a better effort of acknowledging different continuities now. We have characters from Beast Wars, Beast Machines, RID, Armada. I just ordered these two and just received my Tankor and Rattrap. :D

Question: If they did Generations toys of Animated characters, would collectors prefer them in their cartoony aesthetic or something more realistic such as what they did with Lugnut?

It's hard to say. They did the characters from other continuities as a mix between the IDW style and their original style, with amazing results. I don't see why not stopping that trend. I'd like some re-imagining of the GoBots, as I said before, but I'd want to see some Animated and Movie characters as well. Note that it would be preferable if they did characters native to these universes. As for Animated, that forkloft mafia-boss constructicons, and as for the Movies, Barricade. They would be "classificated" to great success, like they did with RTS Lugnut, and would fit in the line perfectly. I'd like also to see a CHUG version in deluxe form, of Gobots Leader One (as a :BOT: ) and GoBots Cy-Kill (as a :CON: ). Come on, HasTak, you can do it!

Here's to hopefully more fembots in the generations line :D (though what about decpticon fembots? Must be some unique molds there waiting to be made)
