Hey guys, are King Kong and Godzilla considered characters you think? Because if so, I think there are some BIG omissions here.

Top 100? Well deserved. Maybe for me, the top five but hey, you don't get everything you want in life. :-P

Optimus Prime chosen as one of the best movie characters of all time? :???:

Don't you need character development in order to actually be a character in a movie? :-?

Sly I don't think you know what character development is.

I like the movies but even I can see how the robots have no character and only Optimus shows a little bit

But in no way does any of them have development.

Optimus, Bumblebee, Megatron, Sentinel, and Lockdown all had it. The Fallen had a bit of it and so did Crosshairs, just a tiny bit. You can't tell me none of them had any development.

You're right, their development involved killing or dying.

what about the fact that optimus' opinions of humans flux all the time and lockdown is immensely dedicated to his creators, or Sentinel had his mission of saving his planet and that was the only goal? :BOT:

How could I forget about those. And then they killed people or died, that's what we call a character arc in the biz : D

Well to be fair, tha autobots started in AOE by not caring about the humans. And at the end, they do. So much so that Optimus then rises to space to take down anyone who would hurt his beloved human friends. Isn't that development?

He took off to go beat people up.

Same as he's been doing since the first movie.

Optimus Prime is nothing more than a bully looking to subjugate the Decepticons who are doing nothing more than wanting their race to expand across the galaxy.

I'm sure by the end of AOE, Optimus still hates humanity. He just knows it's his duty to protect them, no matter what. After all, the reason the Decepticons came to Earth in the first place was his fault.

Except it was Megatron's fault since he started the war and got to Earth first.

But Optimus sent the Allapsrk to Earth. If he hadn't, Megatron probably would have never even known about Earth.

And it was The Fallen's fault for both turning Megatron to the dark side and for building the Great Machine on Earth in the first place, which is what drew the AllSpark to the planet. Optimus never knew of the Star Harvester being on Earth or that the AllSpark would be drawn to it. When he launched it, he shot it into the Alkaris Anomaly, a wormhole in space that has a potentially infinite number of exits, meaning that enters it gets spit out at random into ANY place in the universe. It just so happened that the AllSpark was still drawn to the Great Machine on Earth regardless of where it got spat out.

See my previous post right before this one. He did not send it to Earth, he sent it to the Alkaris Anomaly. The AllSpark went to Earth on its own, drawn there by The Fallen's Great Machine.

I watched all the films and I never got that story from them.

It's war, violence can be expected. And in this case, it seems the best way to end a war is to annihilate those threatening said life. Optimus just became more of a warrior than a philosopher in the movies, and to me thats cool. slight tweak to the character :BOT:

That's cuz the movies can't be bothered to go that deep into its own lore, leaving that task to fall to the Movieverse comics and novels instead (back when those were a thing, anyway, in the pre-AOE years).

I know he didn't sent it to Earth on purpose. But if he hadn't jettisoned it off Cybertron, it never would have found its way to Earth in the first place.

Which he did cause of Megatron and the Decepticons which in the movies clearly show they are psychotic and not like G1 or other continuities

If he hadn't jettisoned it, Megatron would have seized it and won in the end, and that's a BAD thing.
